  • Hey Everyone and welcome back to the Criss Karver channel!
It has been almost three months since my Flowerhorn Fish, 'Horace' passed away and out of respect for her loss, I kept the aquarium empty until now.
I added electric blue jack dempseys to the 55 gallon fish tank today and WOW... they are cool! I have only tried electric blue jack dempseys one other time which ended in complete failure. I'm pretty sure that this is the ONLY fish I have purchased that would just not live in my aquarium. The one I bought years ago died within a week.
So now, I have TWO Jack Dempseys and they are a VERY COOL ELECTRIC BLUE!
I'm very happy to announce that they will be a great addition to my collection of snakes and fish and will have their own future videos!
Thank you for dropping by and be sure to LIKE and SHARE all you want!

    Cool channel
I really enjoy looking at other peoples ponds and fish. I have 4 koi ponds and a fish room with multiple tanks. My ponds are surrounded by decking and trees. If you would like to view them that's great. If not that's ok too.
Thanks again for sharing and take care.

Electric blue males have longer fins, and slightly less color than females. They could also be smaller, and the normal cichlid gender identifiers like the protruding organs on the lower side for males, or one larger and one smaller hole for females. It’s a lot easier to tell when they grow, I own one as well and have done tons of research. I’d love to see how they’re doing!

Did you have any luck with these two? did they make it this far?

    • @CrissKarver

I did not! I was so upset too. I tried again in my big tank this year and failed again! That rarely happens to me. I don't lose fish but these guys.... darn... just can't keep them

@@CrissKarver Their genes are incredibly bad due to human intervention. Very very very bad. Better just get normal Jacks.

Ever think of starting a tank with bucktooth tetra?

    • @CrissKarver
      @CrissKarver  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never really looked at those.

@@CrissKarver their like mini piranha. They only get 3-4 inches max and are even more aggresive than piranha. They have personality of Tiger barbs constantly swimming and playing with each other and never get boring

I read a long time ago that EBJD are all female... I'm not sure if that is true... I might be reading too much Jurassic Park 😂

That's news to me.... I know it's hard to keep them

  • @samueltorres7555

Well, im guessing they didnt make it. Ebjd are known for being weak and parasite prone.
If you just started that tank im guessing that a little stress killed them.
Your lack of updates makes me think im correct as well.
Beautiful fish. Im giving them a go as well. But my tanks are old and cycled.
    Goodluck

I've had them a few times. Currently have a 2yr old ebjd. The past ones I've had made it to about 3 1/2 yrs old. My goal is at least 5yrs.

I have one left. He was beat up pretty badly by weaker fish so these are not aggressive

I have one left. They are not like normal jack dempseys. They are pretty weak when it comes to cichlids. My other one is living with my tiger barbs if that tells you anything. lol
