    It makes me smile when you realize that the parts you had the most trouble with on a totally custom build is the stock parts (calipers and brake lines).

    The way you work through a hard day may be one of the best things you've illustrated on this channel. I would not want to face a camera or keep plugging away on a day like that. One more example of the countless ways you inspire!

      _EXACTLY_ ! I would have had a juvenile tantrum, destroyed something and quit for the day to ice my fist and order a replacement of the things I'd wrecked .. .. . ..

    Absolutely awesome. Tis running under it's own power at last. All those parts and spare bits pulled in and sat for ages now its rolling along ..I can just imagine the size of that grin in your face . Now it can be moved round the shop when needed and not having to tow or drag it about . Easy mistake on the pipes for the steering you had a 50 50 chance getting them correct or not lol who knew lol .. thanks for sharing Karl

    Next time bro, the calipers that you started with could have been rebuilt for around $20us and are extremely easy to rebuild, 1sqared off O-ring and a dust cover. But watching you is far more fun, lmao.....
    Love the vids and your self-taught style, you are an old school spirit in a younger body for sure!

    Carl have you ever used candle wax instead of penetrating fluid?
    Its an old trick but definitely works.
    Heat up whatever your trying to loosen ad the wax it works like capillary attraction gets right in there and is non flammable just works its way into the threads and even if it sets you`ll still be able to slip that bolt out with ease.
    Oh and vacuum bleeding is the way forward ALL DAY LONG.

    heating and the cold water always works when heat alone still won't work. I thought for sure the grease fitting was gonna snap. MY momma always said Everything happens for a reason although it took me a long long time to learn that one. I've learn not to fret anymore over things because all things work out for out Good. It All works out in our favor to those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Congrats to finally seeing you your shop truck on the road and running for the very first time. kudos to you both. Killer looking ride.

    Great stuff as usual. One thing you've got to watch on those vacuum bleeders is that sometimes they'll suck air into the line around the bleeder nipple. This doesn't necessarily add air to the system but it can give you air in your suction hose and make it seem like there's an endless amount of air in the lines. I gave up on mine and went to a positive pressure bleeder, which has been working much better for me.

    • @alphaghost1633

  • @danielvick7875
    @danielvick7875 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What I used for years is from Lordco the one ball valve, one person bleeding system. Just cracked each bleeder one at a time and pump the brakes until you do not see any bubbles in the clear line and you're ready to go!

  • @kevinwallis2194
    @kevinwallis2194 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I see so many people heat the wrong part of what they want to loosen I’m saddened, but you are the first to do it the right way.

  • @VS-16
    @VS-16 ปีที่แล้ว

    I saw it and knew immediately: you won't be able to get over the red bar of the lifting platform that slowly!
    Had to laugh when it happened exactly like that...
    No weight on the rear axle, single wheels and the floor is smeared, and the exterior mirrors can hardly be folded in ---> everything fits!
    Watching is always more fun!!! Best regards from Germany 👨‍🔧

    Those vacuum bleeders are super handy, cut down on the pedal pumping. Use them all the time in the shop. They create vacuum from the shop air thru an orifice. Important to allow them to equalize before removing it from the bleeder by turning it off first and watching the fluid stabilize in the hose.
    Truck is gonna be so cool AND handy as a tow rig once done!

    @leonhart2452 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Using heat on rusted bleeders does get them loose, you just risk melting the rubber inside the caliper. You didn't this time around, just be aware this can happen.
    When you get the bleeders out, cleaning them out with small drill bits ensures they will bleed.
    On clippers that the bleeder breaks off, they sell kits to fix them. You drill out the broken bleeder, tap it to the size of the new bleeder seat and thread in the new bleeder.

  • @Enter-a-name55
    @Enter-a-name55 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the style that this COE has. It would make for a really neat truck with an 8 foot bed. And still keep the dual wheels.

  • @boblister665
    @boblister665 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Hint, for getting old bleeders open first tap around the bleeder with a hammer and flat punch or an air hammer with a flat bit. The vibration loosens the rust grip and helps a lot with stubborn bleeders

    • @bradpage8967
      @bradpage8967 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the old Victor Hot Wrench is most commonly used in road salt areas 😮😢 the locals are working with the parts manufacturers to wear the cars out from the outside in rather than the usual way…..damn salt!

    3500 HD rolling chassis's hard getting really hard to find . I found one locally come available for $700 or best offer , guy was moving and had to get it out of the yard . I couldn't get because I just had kidney surgery and couldn't do any physical work . That really sucked as I've been looking for one for almost ten years , well that's life . Awesome project . Great video , plus I've learned so much knowledge from your build . Thanks from Sherwood , Arkansas U.S.A.
