Karl, spray the outside of the plywood boxes with Flexiseal spray to water protect the outside of the boxes.
Agree I have seen some wreckers where they had plywood inside behind the tool box it would hold the water and rot the metal around it. Could also use an undercoating or box liner.
Agree completely, not only would it look better with black Flexiseal - but without being thoroughly sealed, those exposed end cuts are going to start to delaminate much sooner that you want them to…
Sweet ride guys
Rolling on fiberglass resin works really good too
And maybe even do a Raptor coat on the inside of the box's.
Analytics be damned - fabulous project and fabulous results. For sure you are a great teacher and inspiration but it is nice to see a project to its end.
Totally! That truck freaking rules!!
FYI, the builds are my favorite content. I enjoy the time you put into excellence of metal work to make them special when completed. I think the combination of "how to" content while working the builds is the perfect content mix.
Yea the balance is spot on and keeps me coming back every time
Right on thanks for the feedback!
Fabulous work Karl. You, Elio, Brent and the thrash squad knocked it out of the park. It’s been a pleasure watching every step of this build. Looking forward to the Japhands roadshow! Rock on man.
Love your work and your relationship working with your brother. Having Brent (AND ESTER!!!) from Half Ass Kustoms doesn't hurt. TEAM WORK! Nice truck.
Wowsers! Knew this build was massive, but seeing you sitting inside one of the boxes (comfortably) really drives the point home! She's a BEAST! The enthusiasm between you and Elio, and everyone how helped on this build was just plain smile inspiring! Us loyal viewers will be here for all your content! Go Japhands and Elio and crew, keep moving forward!
It's takes a village! You had loads of helpers and support. I enjoyed it all. That thing will be with you for decades. It's uses are endless!
One last thing, please. Old Skool Hot Rod pinstripes!!!!
Great Job on the Ramp truck! Enjoyed seeing it come together and all the help you got.
I’m so excited for you watching you reminds me of me and my brother building our first wrecker more than 35 years ago. I’ve learned a lot from you about metal working as well. So when they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Is false
Seriously glad to see this finished!!! I'd love to see more builds. But you do what you need to do, I'm going to watch anyway.
Very cool man! Elio and Brent are some very good people, and it’s been a pleasure to watch how all your friends come together to help the project to completion. The feels are real 🙂
I love the ramp truck, and have watched all of the videos. I'm so glad to see it done and how it turned out, and it turned out great! Now we're looking forward to more of your regular content.
Loved this truck at the Layed Out show this year! Now I just need you to bag my squarebody suburban!
I like your channel the way it is. I mean most of the time it is metal work. It is cool to see you work on your own projects as well. Keep it up man
Awesome man, always down for a working holiday haha!
Hey Karl. Awesome, awesome, awesome and congratulations to you and everyone else involved on the completion of the ramp truck. I'm a long-time subscriber and you have helped me and taught me more than you will ever know. More power to you, Steve (New Zealand).
Fellow kiwis here too, great content alright 👍
Awesome!! Such a great watch all the way thru. Good job guys - happy for ya!
Awesome truck Karl, something you can be proud of to have. Maybe see you here in Arizona some day.
YEAH , ME TOO..! LOVE THAT RAMP TRUCK..MY DAD SEMI REBUILT A DUMP TRUCK SIMILAR TO THAT BEAST … PS ; SOME DAY BUILD A AIR CONDITIONED SLEEPER ON THAT CAB ..LOL..! THANKS KARL..! ❤🏁
You are really good at propelling the creativity and inspiration along. I am sure your supporters and sponsors have no regrets about helping with this awesome build.
good work!
For durability you should varnish or paint the wood, even if "treated" (means the glue won't let it delaminate just from water exposure, but the protection of wood itself is left tobe done according to the final application), at least the horizontal panels (likely to keep puddles at places)...
Nice work guys, that is a huge build for 2 people to complete.
Nice to see a build complete! I'd be inclined to paint outside of that ply. Treated or not, paint will really help it last. Great work getting it done. Huge effort.
Hey Carl, love what you do, I watch all of your updates. Someone mentioned the Zephyr, so think Bart Simpson; we there yet? We there yet? lol. Whatever you do holds my interest. Your idea of visiting and helping other subscribers with projects would certainly add another dimension to what you do, great idea.
Great Job On Such An Outstanding Build, Hit & Miss, Trial & Error You Guys Concord It All. Can't Say How Much I Enjoy WatchingYour Builds. I Also Watch Brent & Enjoy His Builds, Especially After " Especially After Rising From The Ashes" That Disaster Was So Heart Renching. You Two Complement Each Other Very Well, I Applaud You Both. I Also Enjoy "Bad Chad" From Nova Scosher, Ya All Are Great!!
That turned out awesome!
Sad that it's the final episode of this incredible build, but can't wait for the next one!
Maybe I'll get a chance to see it in person one day. You and Brent could road trip down to the Lone Star Roundup in Austin, TX!
I loved the ramp truck build. Excellent job. Keep doing what you love.
Cheers from Australia.
O.
Shoot building the vehicles is just as fun as watching you do metal work
My 2cents, I enjoy the big builds, but my favorite videos usually have you metal working a piece from start to finish and sharing the process and what you look for and how you make the decisions for each detail of that piece. Throw back favorite, taking a HAMMERED roof and planishing it back to shape to prove it can be done simply.
Congrats on the completion it was a great journey.
Great job guys, looks good. As much as I like the metal work videos I am here for the projects. Keep it up
The builds are kind of like “talk the talk, walk the walk”
Yup. Fully agree
Freakishly awesome build, Karl! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Terrific project. Like your use of the small marker litghts
Oh yes sir Brent what a great person to have as a great friend well done
Really enjoyed this build . I have built several trailers including a 30’ enclosed for hauling our race cars around. Built our own aluminum cabinets for it . We are currently building out a 40’ Prevost bus into a motor home, and have a 52 ford F-4 we want to do a ramp truck build. Love the videos. Your metal working skills are over the top!
Wow she is gorgeous Karl. Well-done guy's. Brent is awesome. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Take care be safe.
The paint job on the deck looks spectacular. The storage cubbies look great and will be put to good use for sure. All the little details are really cool and very practical. Look forward to seeing the ramp truck being put to good use. Look forward to seeing what's next. Congrats to all who participated and contributed, but specifically to you, Brent and Elio. Be safe and stay well.
That turned out amazing very well done guys WOW
Stayed with you on the entire build. Great finished truck.
FANTASTIC! Now back on the Zephyr 😁
Engles coach shop just had a video about how to paint wood that will last. In a nut shell he uses a primer coat of paint thinned 50%. With what im not sure. He mentions linseed oil at one point, but maybe thinner too. Not sure. Anyway having that first coat soak deep into the wood was key. Then follow up with one or two normal coats with a light sanding in between. That will give you a long lasting coat that won't peel. Although I'll bet you'll get sick of the wet boxes pretty quick and will be upgrading them in a few years 😉👍
I bow to you oh awesome ones. You guys have killed it. Great work & such a useful piece of equipment. Billy J..... Queensland, Australia.
You should put an inverter for electrical in the truck. Could put a mini fridge/ microwave in for those long trips. Plus use some tools if needed.
Outstanding Truck, Outstanding Fabrication, Outstanding Personnel, Outstanding Sponsorships!
I’ve enjoyed watching every episode of this build series on your channel and on Brent’s. Such an amazing build, thanks to everyone involved especially Karl, Elio and Brent and all of your wrenching buddies.
I enjoy seeing the builds finished. But I do enjoy your tutorials. I've learned so much! Mike
Love the ramp truck. Looks Awesome and should look really good cruising down the highway at night!
Luv me some Ramp Truck!! I've always liked ramp trucks. They were a big part of 60's and 70's grassroots drag racing. Simple and very functional. I got mine 2 years ago and have put it to good use. Mines not as Kool as yours but I like it just the same. Nice Job!! Can't wait to see it put into action!!
Really enjoyed watching this come together! Turned out GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤜🤛
23:27 - beautiful country side here . reminder that the sky is blue and anything is possible in life and Karl is proof… congrats Karl on all your success , well deserved
Way cool. The final product is pretty awesome.
Karl it looks fantastic Hats off to you Ellio Brent and everyone else who chipped in for the build, on a side note Re the locker lights i would have put them on their own circuit pretty much like the interior lights on a car with the same switches so that they only come on when you open the doors that way you don't have to have the marker lights on, also i know you said the wood was water resistant but for a bit of belt and braces i would have coated the outside with some underseal. 👍👍👍
Great project loved watching it being built
That looks great! Good to see it all together and on the road!
I think the engine replacement should have two digits, a dot between them, ending in a nine... 😉
Maybe have someone holding a hairdryer where you're trying to work the vinyl. Heat gun might be too much. The heat might allow for more stretch.
I don't think I've ever thought this about anything you've ever done before, but I'm not really digging the vinyl padded look. That might just be an Aussie thing but. I've never dug that look. But hey, I do admire your diligence as always and going for what you're chasing and what I always admire about you is trying your best at something you've never done before ( usually always with incredible results 👏🏻 ).
All the best Brent with your build, have fully enjoyed following this build as with all the others. Keep up the great work and your personality is pure sunshine on a shitty day. As always, LOVE YOUR WORK.
Awesome to see it completed. Looking forward to whatever comes next. Keep it coming and love that you acknowledged everyone who contributed to this project and your channel. Aloha🤙🏼
Killer job guys the truck looks absolutely fantastic and a real stunning unique build 🔥👍
Thanks for bringing all of us along on this epic ride, building this epic ride. It's been a pleasure to watch just like everything else you guys do.
Just a Tip
You can use Polyester resin on the joins and the endgrain to stop the Ply swelling even though it is treated that will help bigtime.
Looks great Karl.
Awesome build guys. What a mission 👌
It's always a pleasure to see you work Karl! Your enthusiasm is the icing on the cake!😎
Awesome job Boys. Will a mini bike fit in the front storage bay? I thinks so. Some painted pinstripes on the deck sides would be cool. Keep up the great videos Karl and Elio..
I found Brent’s channel because of the first build colab, he is awesome.
I've been subscribed since you worked on the 70's Chevy van. I'm here for everything you do. You want to make a shop fan. I'm in. If you don't finish a project, that is fine with me. I enjoy every episode. It is ultimately about making stuff. Still subscribed.
Turned out Awesome Karl… That truck is incredible. I can’t wait to see it making the rounds with the hot rod on the deck. You guys are inspiring…Thank you.
Nice to see it done 👍👍 being Australian gauge has to be the wonkiest way of measuring thickness, it's basically the number of times the sheet of metal goes through a roller/stretching machine which is why the lower number is thicker material, probably also explains why aluminium sheet is different
Karl, Fantastic build.
My 2 cents,
1. It might be a good idea to seal the ends of the ply even the weatherproof stuff needs to be sealed.
2.Install a sensor on all the storage boxes to tell you they are shut. Vibrations happen. You could use a wireless switch similar to tech to TPS.
PS I'd call you if I need a lift just to see the build in person.
That ramp truck is sick. I am sure I speak for many. I am happy to watch this build start to finish. If you have ever built something from the ground up you know it takes an incredible amount of time. Forget the money, hundreds of hours of time. Most of us build part time, nights and weekends so triple the time it takes to finish a build. You have taught me a lot. I enjoy your variety of projects. Thanks Kevin and Ellio.
amen! my thoughts exactly
Much appreciated!!! And ya the time is the killer!
I’m sure you’ve heard this, already. The mystery engine squeal can be a spun rod bearing. Love your show!
Congrats man! Engine squeak is a bummer but hey, opportunity for an upgrade! Bad azz looking truck and it’s gonna be a big asset to the shop and gettin things done 👍
I absoulutly love the videos. You've given me the courage and drive to tackle my 51 chevy and make as much of the panels as i can. Thank you
Oh man Carl, what a day! I've been hoping and praying for this day. I'm so excited for you. A great truck that's built strong 💪. Thanks for creating this video 📸. You ROCK Carl!!!
Karl Elio and Brent. you did awesome job.
So stoked for you guys! You crushed it!!! You made it your own & has been a blast following along! Can't wait to see where you take this!!!
Karl I loved this build mate, absolutely fantastic job with it. Definitely needs a truck motor though, hauling all that steel around, lol.
Outstanding, would have loved to see it come thru winnipeg, maybe next summer?
Nice ramp truck project build
My 2 cents
Hide a tow hitch in front Tons of chains, straps, snatch blocks, gloves and air tools
Storage for 4x4 Go jacks Long air line. Long jumper cables Fuel jug storage
Show how to recover a car in a ditch and a rollover
For me it’s a shop truck
Great project. Really enjoyed it. Congratulations!!
That ramp truck is too cool. Great job!!!
I’m so pumped to see it at night all lit up
That is weird that there has been a dip in analytics. I wouldn't have guessed that. For me, this project was the easiest thing to watch. The progress came fast and furious which to me keeps the viewer engaged but I think that is super hard to do week in and week out. Some channels build stuff like this all the time and keep the progress up and I don't know how they don't burn out.
Ramp truck looks Awesome! maybe just a bit of blue on the bed like a fade to black or a thin racing strip....
Good fabrication !
You Can protect the plywood cut ;)
I like your construction 😊
Thought you would at least given us a celebratory honk or two on the horn!!!. Excellent content keep it coming.
looks awesome! Can't wait to see it again. I like the wood box idea. Keeps it quieter rolling down the road as well.
It really turned out beautiful....
Love the lights. Nice touch! 💪👍🏼
I loved the ramp truck build. I love the metal working. Keep up the videos. I've watched them all.
Good job getting it done. Never miss your videos, Karl. Keep up the good work.
Turned out rad! When you were presenting it at the lake, the way the diamond plate is framed, it looks a lot like a 66 Corvair rear end. With your skills, you could easily make that happen and it would be a killer touch
I was pretty jacked up to see this video in my feed. You guys killed this project. Props to everyone involved.
Awesome build! So cool you and Brent (Halfass Customs) colabbed on it, rock!!!🤘🏼😎👍🏻
I agree Eric
Great Job Karl and Elio!
Epic build, such a great addition to the fleet!
Brilliant job, Karl. Definitely up to the usual standards we've come to expect from you. Safe travels
in the mighty beast! Cheers from OZ.
It looks soo good laid out!
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy 32750 approved ! that was good info & see = looks good! Make it Kustom
Looks amazing brother ! I would be worried about hitting a big bump and the ramp pin bouncing out ! Just sharing a thought . Thanks for the video brother !
I enjoyed watching this build, it is always nice to see the completed project. Look forward to seeing what come next.
Brilliant job Karl . Well done to you all..
That is one cool truck!!!!! Now back to the Lincoln!!
Congratulations Karl and Elliot on the finished Rampage Truck. Hope your mechanical problems are done. Thanks for sharing! Looks beautiful 🤩
💯👊👍
