    I just picked one of these up and I love it, I already have 2 24" levels and a 32" levels and 4 torpedo levels ranging from 7" to 9" and so I wanted something in-between all of those so I got the 16" version of the level and I absolutely love it and I like the display on the top it actually reminds me of the dual view plumb sight that is on 2 of my Kapro levels the only difference is it is digital of course and the main display is great it is huge and the blue back-lighting is sweet and the 7 different function modes are really cool. Thanks for the great review as always bud, keep up the good work your one of my favorite channels to watch!

    Now there's something I could use because it's getting hard for me to read the viles anymore.
    Dang Brian, another super nice Chevy!

      OK, I bought both the 24" and the 48" because I have a hard time reading bubble viles with my old eyes. So far I have gone through 3 of each and none of them read the same either with the bubble vile or the digital readout. Unlike most Empire tools, these are NOT made in the USA, they are Chinese made so I guess that explains the poor tolerances between units.
      It you are considering getting one, the first thing I would do is to check the accuracy of both the bubbles (all of them), and the digital accuracy - for both level and plumb. Home Depot sells the regular I-beam Empire True Blue 24" and 48" as a combo set for $25. The digitals will run you $280 for the pair. For that much money I would have expected them to be dead-on accurate, but none of the six I tried were perfect.

    Empire is owned by milwaukee, gotta say empire makes some nice heavy duty levels and priced fair compared to competitors

    I'd be buying this mainly for the audio beeping feature when level/plumb has been achieved.
    What are your experiences when using this feature. TIA

    All I want is an extendable, digital, lit vial level all in 1 unit... is that too much to ask for?

    Ive had mine for 5 years building pressure vessels. I just today had to recalibrate mine after dropping it off a cylinder 12 ft in the air.

    If i put it against a wall and draw a pencil line from one side to another, will that be a problem with the edges? the old serie had a 45% along the sides that made it impossible to make a straight line at the wall with pencil.

    When in 90 degrees the arrows work oppositely than on a horizontal plane. This is confusing. The blue vails are not lighted. Smart part does not work when layed flat. Works really good for about one month, then will to be calibrated. Will not calibrate if 0.4 degrees out, which is ridiculous since the level has the inspect feature which allows you to set any angle at zero for a limited amount of time, which can be tiresome and reduces the level to a nonauto calibrated limit time use. Also customer service is odd, goes to a recorded advertisement then instructs to leave a message and u will be called back during normal business hrs and does not tell u their normal operating hrs. At best this is a read the box review with no hands on use. My advise: dont buy this one, buy the lighted version and never drop it.

      Ours was dropped and is now out of level and we have been unable to get it back to level. We are in the same boat.

       @WorkshopAddict I'm a big fan of your videos and am a little alarmed to see this comment. Don't you think you should update your comments or video to reflect the fact that your level no longer works due to a drop - which is a common and even expected thing to happen to a tool like this? As it stands your review seems very positive - but it sounds like you don't use it anymore due to issues.

    i have a 4 footer. when used in one direction it gives me one reading, when switched in the other direction it gives me another reading. is there a reason this happens? at a job we had issues on a balcony, using the level in one direction it gave me 2% when switched it gave me 2.5%. we even tried a stabila digital 6foot level and same issue was read. why is that????? im gona switch back to torpedo level that has the slopes instead.

      Look at the video on second 37. You need to calibrate it.

    • @petermacdonald4955
      @petermacdonald4955 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      all I can see is to calibrate it using the spirit level- If I could differentiate .01 of a degree on a bubble I wouldn't need the digital aspect also end from end should be the calibration technique not just eyeball and resetting?

    Nice idea, but for me I think its just a waste of money. I have a little magnetic cube digital level that I pop on top of any size level I have and it does the exact same thing ... I mean, its useful if you only need one size level or if you can justify buying it in several sizes, but it just doesn't make sense for me.
