      Is he though? I agree with a lot of what Nigel says and stands for but labelling all working class as caring about feelings more than words ....I can't agree with that. I find it snobbish, which was what Farage was accusing Andrews of. Just because the working class didn't go to Oxford doesn't mean they aren't capable of eloquence and intelligence. Words and facts do matter and MP's should be thoughtful about how they word what they want to say. If Anderson was clumsy with his words, he did correct himself, and I agree with what he said. I don't think any MP including Lee Anderson should be rated on their social class and I think Farage is buying into that by emphasising Anderson's class and making it an excuse for his "word clumsiness". The working class aren't fools and MP's and media including Farage should stop treating them as such.

    As a working class person Nigel is 100% right. It's insane how intolerant and uncharitable educated upper-middle people are.
    Working class people speak very directly. They do not care about saying things in a politically correct way, or even necessarily a logical way. A working class person tends to speak from an emotional perspective rather than a rational one. It's like how when young kids are angry they might say things like "I WISH YOU WERE DEAD". They don't mean it, but they feel it, so they say it. When working class people say things, you need to hear it more as a reflection of their emotional state, rather then some calculated and logical opinion.

    • @jamonit7169
      @jamonit7169 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      A strange way of describing the "working class", dare I say, apart from the opening sentence I thought it was absolute nonsense. We speak that way because that's the best way to communicate with each other.
      We also understand when we see some poor soul the MSM have "door stepped" to get an "emotional" response, that emotion is pure frustration at the way our self styled "educated" elites are running the country. If the educated classes are actually more intelligent than us plebs they could easily figure it out and do something about it.
      Political correctness was introduced by authoritarian regimes to suppress speech which is exactly what's happening here..

    Andrews genuinely seems to believe that she and her friends at the Spectator should decide if Lee Anderson's comments about Sadiq Khan are 'acceptable'. They may not be 'acceptable' to you, but they are quite 'acceptable' to people who are not you. That may be because they are not as educated than you, but it may also be because they are smarter than you & understand the issues far better than you because they are actually affected by them in ways you are not. This is what Farage understands and his detractors do not. Are people at the Spectator under the impression that they get to decide what is or is not 'acceptable'? That would be ridiculous.
    Khan may find himself torn between different factions of the Labour-Islamist alliance, to whatever extent he finds useful in the pursuit of his personal aims, but he's very clearly biased against every single person who isn't an Islamist or a Loony Left protester. Lee Anderson just said what most sane people are thinking. Perfectly acceptable & completely true.

Same can be said of Lee Anderson. Don't analyse the exact phrasing of his statements, understand where they come from (the streets), understand the strength of emotion behind them and understand the general meaning of his statement. This nation is finding its voice again. It will become clearer with time, but the volume will increase as more people join the chorus.

Working people do not couch their opinions in the subtle self-deprecation that signals the ruling elite, they speak in blunt sentences from the heart. As we’ve all heard Lee’s explanation, I didn’t understand Kate’s continued point on the wording and whether that wording should ever be “welcome” or would be allowed to be said in the Reform party. If any wording on any topic is wrong because it is untrue or unfounded that’s one thing but if it were ever to be true, it can’t be banned from being said. The plain truth must always be “welcome” in politics, however brutal it might be. Such a pointless, nitpicking debate, Nigel was right to push back to the sentiment.

    I had the Nigel Farage interview on in the background while doing other things. After several minutes I had to come back to the page to double check which channel I was listening to.
    From the comments of Ms Andrews I honestly was beginning to believe that it was the New Statesman. Mr Farage is one hundred percent correct that the London bubble have no idea how the rest of the country thinks and feels.
    I am terrified of a Labour government. The thought of Ashworth, Rayner, Lammy and Burgon getting anywhere near the levers of power chills the blood but the Tories do not deserve to win in their current form.
    Hopefully the Reform vote will cause them to see the error of their ways and they can become Conservative again. If by some miracle they do win, I fear it will be business as usual and we will be the losers.
