I had a passenger this last weekend that told me she would "tip me in the app" as the ride was ending. I asked her, "do you know what the phrase "bless your heart" means in the south?". She said no, so I told her "it has a double meaning, it could be sympathy or it could be an subtle insult, but it is typically used as an insult. Most drivers view the phrase "I'll tip you in the app" as an insult, because usually the person who says it never tips." She paused for a second, reached into her purse and handed me $20. I thanked her and she asked what I would have said if she had left without tipping. I said, "I would have said bless your heart".

When you work for your price without the hopes of a tip is the way to go because thats just extra bonus you werent guaranteed
Levi I sometimes get passengers that have to take Uber every day for work and some of them. I understand why they don’t tip because they’re having to spend so much to the apps there other times. You pull up to this really expensive house and they don’t tip.
I'm not american so I'm confused, why are you running after the passengers/customers for not tipping, instead of the company that should properly compensate you? Something is not right.
Because the definition of "gig work " is temporary/part time not intended for full time work yet many people rely on it for full time work and depend on tips because gig apps don't pay enough. Gig apps know when you rely on them as a full time job and they take advantage.
Minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage, but look what people are doing driving the minimum wage up minimum wage was meant to be a starter wage for people just beginning to work some people like me who can’t physically work anymore use gig work to make a living so before you make a comment about something you’ve never done think about this
Plus they also don't really want to tip because Uber and Lyft is charging them double with their used to taking and making it a little more uncomfortable if not nearly impossible in their minds to tip so there is also that reality even though they should still tip I can understand why they're apprehensive from time to time
The first type of person described as "always tips" can't be assumed to be a good person. They could easily just be guilted into it or afraid of negative emotions or confrontation by not doing so even when the service is awful. This video even acknowledges this during the "never tippers" section.

This is real. There's some "interesting" meta shit going on in rideshare lately. Riders are noticing and they're not liking it. At all. It's a problem, but it's also a huge opportunity for good drivers if you're not afraid to exert yourself as a true "independent contractor." Download and print out your uber and/or lyft driver contracts out on real paper. Yeah, I know, 99.999% of drivers just clicked "accept" without reading anything at all. Well, print it out, on real paper, and READ it. With a highlighter. One paragraph, one sentence at a time. You'll be amazed at what your actual driver contract says you can do.

I drive with Uber and ride with them as well. College town, so most rides are college students. The key is to lower your expectations. ex: with college kids, 80% don't tip... which is fine. But the ones who tell you they will tip in the app and don't are the worst. 99% of ppl who tell you usually end up not tipping. Now, when there is a surge and people are charged way over the regular price for the ride I understand why they would not tip, and I don't expect them to. ex: I take a short 3 min 1 mile trip from the train station to my house and Uber usually charges me $8. I know the driver gets around $4 out of it, so I add a $3 for tip. But sometimes when Uber charges me about $16 for that same 1 mile trip when there is a surge I don't tip, sorry.

Here’s the ultimate insult. You pick up a couple from the supermarket, they’re visiting from out of town and staying at a hotel. You aren't taking it too personal. In the United States tipping is customary for individuals doing certain types of service work. Also yes if Uber just paid us more then everyone would just be forced to pay more all around so those who tell us to get it out of the company, they aren't our employer we are all subcontractors, are just telling you they don't want to pay at all regardless.

I have a good one for you, Levi. My sister and I were out for lunch a few days ago at a restaurant we frequent. Our waitress was a woman that I recognized and I had given a ride a few weeks ago - she did not tip. I asked my sister if it was appropriate for me not to tip the waitress, after all, the restaurant was paying her an hourly wage.
So you make career out of saying the unreasonable things ride-share drivers dream of, what you are saying is not what most people agree with. Here is a tip: forget about your tip and focus on opening a business and worry about the connections. You can have a really good tipper give you $200 on a $10 ride, or you can have a non-tipper give you a $900,000 contract. Act like a businessman, dress like a businessman and you will be treated as a businessman and will be a successful businessman. Talk like a beggar, dress like a beggar, act like a beggar, you will be treated as a one, and will always be a beggar. You beg for money and share you beggar attitude with beggars so that they remain beggars. That is low. Know more and be more, so that rideshare drivers can stop having the reputation of beggars and grow as real movers and shakers in their areas, as it should be. Your goal as a video publisher should be to facilitate class mobility, REAL class mobility…have drivers just from $90,000 USD a year to $450,000 USD per year, connecting business deals or something worthwhile dude. Stop this low life beggar attitude that will take drivers nowhere.
Uber drivers should get a real job. It is no ones fault but your own this is the job you choose to do and the people you choose to deal with. Uber pays drivers if you want a tip you better give me good service. Get snarky with me I will tell you with a smile on my face you are getting nothing. You are a glorified pizza delivery driver.

And that’s why you don’t get tips and have a sht rating
Are you that’s the right move for me?
99% of riders don't tip!
It seems like it.
thats why i never expect it
Uber drivers should get a real job. It is no ones fault but your own this is the job you choose to do and the people you choose to deal with. Uber pays drivers if you want a tip you better give me good service. Get snarky with me I will tell you with a smile on my face you are getting nothing. You are a glorified pizza delivery driver.
They are stealing. And they do belong in jail
Bold claim. I can't prove it.
@@tipyouintheapp next time ask them to tip before leaving the car. It will mysteriously go missing. It's happened to many drivers
I agree with you 100 %@@bubbasue74
@tipyouintheapp new vid rideshare professor just posted proof. A driver got a screenshot of riders payment with a tip of 10$ and only got 5. How many are out there that none is received when tipped
@@christhayer5498 exactly my point!!!!
