Hii
I am both :)
Hi! :D
Hi
Hi
There was a study that showed that heavy metal and classical music listeners have more in common than any other genres. It makes sense when you break down the two styles and you can see that classical music was really the metal of its era
My music playlist is damm near only those two, so that checks out
It's due to the complexity of the music in both genres
Well Rammstein is kind of like Beethoven’s evolution…
Yep, that’s me
Symphonic Metal, anyone?
As a metal fan, I don't find that I have a low self-esteem. I think what I mostly like about it is that I find the musical elements of extreme metal to be very transcendent, empowering, and I also love the complexity.
100% agree with this
me too. To be honest I was shier when I used to listen to pop music and rap. Rock and metal gave me strenght to face the world.
@@alessiodaini7907 same with me I was a rap fan for a while but when I first discovered LP and Slipknot everything changed for the better

Electronic dance music
where are electronic music???? like, dubstep, brostep, deathstep, house, witch house, electronicore, nightcore... you got the gist....
no soft rock?-
I used to listen to rap almost exclusively because it was cool. But as I got older and out of high school I migrated to metal/rock because a friend showed me some bands. But eventually I came to realize that I relate so much more to the lyrics and emotion in a extreme metal track than a rap song. The majority of good metal is very emotional and I find that to be very interesting considering the musical style
I agree like that was exactly the same for me. I still listen to rap from time to time but it doesn't feel as enjoyable as metal. (deathcore fan here)
White 😂😂😂
Ah yes, I relate more to "I FEEL LIKE I WANNA KILL" than "these times have some lame ass rhymes". Makes no sense.
Dude I agree my taste switched when I went out highschool
@@-originalLemon- yeahhhh not all metal is that, a lot of it actually is pretty emotional, thats why theres even a genre called emo. don't just judge a book by its cover
I love both heavy metal and rock, but I also enjoy listening to classical music as well. It wasn't until I did some research of my own that I discovered that both metal and rock were derived from the style and tones of classical music. That's when it clicked and I realized why I liked the genres listed above. And it also explains why I like symphonic/ochrasteric metal.
On a similar topic, there was a study that was conducted not too long ago that found that listeners of rock and metal had a similar personality, temperament, and demeanor of those individuals who listen to classical music. Just some food for thought.
Additionally, yes, I act and think exactly how you described rockers and metalheads are. I think it happens to be very strange how there's a stigma attached to how we're supposed to act based upon the music we listen to in society. I remember having a rare, casual conversation with some of my classmates in school and as I was very, extremely shy and reserved back then, they were astonished that I even listened to half of the music I said I did; they thought I was too nice and gentle to listen to bands like Slayer and Grim Reaper once they looked up who they were! :)
Im no expert, but don't forget rocks roots in blues, jazz, country etc, so black american music and folk music. But I think rock and metal did develop into a more classical like direction later.
Im also a big fan of these genres and usually shy and introverted.
I love those types of music too I thought it might be weird like in both Heavy-metal Music and Classical Music
Listening to metal (especially power-metal) and rock fills me with confidence. It's as if the awesomeness and badassery of the music and lyrics (and sometimes even the voice of the singer) temporarily transcends to me, empowering me and filling me with confidence which I usually lack.
if you're a power metal fan, check out the band fellowship, you ain't gonna regret it.
Yes
Do you know Sabaton ? If not, then go listen to them they're awesome.
@@Sniper_4_Life they are literally one of my favourite bands, I have so many songs of theirs saved. I even have one as my alarm clock!
You should listen to Shining Unity by Galderia if you haven't already, incredible power-metal song. You may also like Insomnium, but they are melodic death metal, so their lyrics are a lot more somber and they have brutal vocals, my favorite band of all time though.
I like a lot of different musical styles and genres- it’s hard to pick just one! I guess that’s why I love to play piano, because you can cover so many genres at once! As a musical person in general, I really enjoyed this video! 💕
I fully agree!
I can't play the piano but I sing :3

first song i listened to was in the end by linkin park on an amv in 2011, and this the alternative rock and post hardcore rabbithole,
nowadays i listen to anything that feels good but i feel to rock more than anything else
Yeah, that’s a good point- there’s always that one genre that sticks out to you because it has a special meaning or something like that. And falling down that rabbit hole is something that I wouldn’t see as a bad thing!
I mostly listen to soundtracks inspired by video games, rock and pop in Spotify. I still don't know what is my personality when I'm listening to video game music.
@@leguichettravel1599 It means you like video games lol
My music playlist is filled with literally everything lol, Rock, a little bit of Jazz, classical music, hip hop, pop, Lofi, a bunch of anime songs, ✨Movie/anime soundtracks✨, some more popular music and a fair share of older music from the 60's or like 80's, some piano music and some songs my friends made!
Lol, I'm literally the same

Not literally everything, that would be extremely unlikely. You should look up how many types of music there are. But maybe like me, almost everything or every core genre.
I also listen to a vast variety of genres, ranging all the way from pop to dubstep, to EDM, future funk and rap. I love all of the aforesaid genres, but the two which have a place nearest to my heart are classical and patriotic/army music.
You're a laid back, simple, down to earth, intelligent, creative, outgoing introverted extravert with high self esteem and self esteem issues
I listen to a lot of Vocaloid, especially the ones from the 2010s! My favourite producers are DECO*27, PinnochioP, Kikuo, MARETU, and my favourite of all time, wowaka! I have to say, my favourite songs are coin locker baby, rolling girl, and lost one’s weeping, and lower. I know some of the songs are a little bit depressing, but I feel like that’s the true beauty of vocaloid!
It’s so nice to see vocaloid fans in the comment section :’)!! deco has to be one of the best producers out there, I love the tuning style so much, though my personal favourite is mothyP, also lost ones weeping ROCKS!!

people need to stop grouping rock and metal music together 💀💀 there are tons of sub genres, somebody who likes pop punk is not going to be the same as somebody who likes grunge who isn’t the same as somebody who likes power metal
Ikr I like soft rock music but when I said that my friend sent me metal songs 😭
Gonna need a whole new video now with every rock and metal subgenre lol
As an EDM fan (particularly dubstep and other bass music) its always surprising when I see others see a similar taste in music irl.
There are many of us out there :) outside of DnB, I listen to some heavy hitting bass music
Bass boosted music is what keeps me alive
Yea man I don’t see a lot of people who enjoy them when I introduce it to them, or they’ll say it’s too loud.

As a lover of rock and metal music, I can honestly say that I do have low self-esteem.
With your channel, I was able to learn things about myself. Thank you so much for your content.
I love instrumental music such as jazz, rock, metal and indie. It's the most emotional for me, I often feel a response not only in the sound, but also in the lyrics
I love ambient, IDM, downtempo, lofi, onkyo kei, lowercase, glitch for this reason.
you should check out some post-rock bands if you don't know yet, like meniscus, russian circles, if these trees could talk, god is an astronaut, and such
Ah yes, jazz and goregrind lyrics😫
As someone who’s favourite genres are rock, metal, and indie, you’ve literally just described my whole personality
I prefer indie music when calm, and rush music when concentrated. I'm mostly a little bit of a mess and can be unstable if in a large social setting. However, I do socialize a bit and play about with people, being chill around those I trust.
Overall, I say there's some portions that overlap because of my health (in all senses), but I do reflect off my music!

The one music genre I truly enjoy that has that powerful emotional feeling, is video game music. It's so strange but relaxing how music can make you relate to the characters from it's story. Minecraft volume beta is a album that reminds me of how majestic the good old days can be. I know it's just a game but if your that into games, you want to relate to the world of them as well
I also dig listening to soundtracks. If you've ever beaten a game with a story line, listening to the soundtrack takes you back on that journey.
I find music game can't be a genre, because you can produce a music game indipendently on genre. You can find metal/rock/pop and etc... inside a game. Videogames are art, so music is important, since it does give us atmosphere.
Well music in video games can really be any genre but chiptune/8bit music would be the closest thing to being an actual video game music genre.
Yeah, for me it is FIFA soundtracks, the nostalgia of playing those games and listening to them is immense. And many I love because of their message too, which is really the point of a song for me
Yeah same. Payday, Terraria, Minecraft and even Boneworks and lots more. Its just amazing what these people can make. Like in payday all the songs have different stages for phases of assaults and it just adds something special. Boneworks is kind of in a weird place because of its theme but the synth and the opera at the end really fit well. Terraria has a soundtrack that I hold really close to my heart and my favourite mod soundtrack is from calamity. Like yahron phase 2 (forgot what the track was called) is just amazing and brings me back to me playing with my friend back in the day.
You should do a video on "music therapy" and how people can listen to different types of music to help themselves psychologically. For example, some music can be "healing" and helpful for processing and dealing with emotional trauma; other types of music can help one feel more energetic, improve mental functions, feel more positive, etc. For myself, I've recently started listening to a lot of adult contemporary jazz to help deal with work stress, depression and anxiety related to the pandemic, and it's helped me a lot.
Agree
Agreed, except a lot of the time it goes between a few genres of music.
Cool
Let's see what splash woman's theme will do to you then.
ambient post-rock is my favorite by far! but stuff like prog metal, folk, free jazz, etc are also really good
I enjoy the unpredictable art of wavey air that we call Dubstep. It's pretty uncommon, and that's part of the reason why I like it, but I'm also fascinated by the sound design and music production aspect of the genre.
Its wild, ive been trying to learn how to make it recently but its kind of difficult to get good sounding growls
It’s weird because I guess it goes with dance and I love it, yet I’m not extroverted.
Who's ur fav dubstep artist tho?
Nice
I listen to several different types of music, the only one I don't listen to is country, classical, or dance music.
However most of my songs in the other genres are sad or in different languages. I tend to find comfort in rock or some indie and hip hop music, sometimes even rap.
Music is my therapy and my main coping mechanism.
Same here. Music really does smooth the savage beast, like my mom likes to say. :)
I love how cats are included in so many of your animations. I love cats and this channel, and it's helped me so much. A big thank you to the team for their effort!!

You can try to estimate towards which genre you tend to go. Like take your 10 favorite songs and check the genre of each of them, it's always nice to know our tendencies, it helps us find new songs more easily and allows others to suggest some too. Just a friendly recommendation.
i like pop, hip-hop, rap, electronic music genres
As a person with Aspergers/ADHD I love EDM (Electronic Dance Music) but don't really dance to it. I kind of just zone out and stare into space for hours and sometimes fall asleep to it when i'm really tired. Even the fastest most energetic songs are relaxing to my hyperactive brain.

For me, it has always been metal. After the usual "I'm a 90s kid" eurodance/pop/BSB/Kelly/NSYNC fling, it started with nu metal, proceeded to power/speed metal and landed at thrash/death/black. And yeah...my self esteem could be higher to put it mildly.
What about confidence? Also, you gradually got into Metal
I'm 43 and got into Metal and playing instruments in 1989. You were a transplant. Welcome to have you, but you aren't the norm
I love heavy metal and various electronic genres (mainly vocaloid :D) and the the rock and heavy metal section perfectly described me lol
As a rock and indie listener, this was actually really relatable 😅
I can confirm I have lower self-esteem (I'm working on that), I'm gentle (I feel bad for even killing a bug), I'm creative (at least, that's what everyone says I am), and I'm passive. I wouldn't say I'm an intellectual, but my 4.06 GPA, parents, friends, and teachers say otherwise. I guess I'll never know

Hey P2G, I noticed you have lots of vids on personalities and learning your personality but not identity. Could you start a series or at least do one or two videos on identity crisis please? That would be really cool.
Your identity is just a collection of your values. 🫵🪞
Values are just information cycles/traps 🪢♻️, that’s been perceived as interesting (especially considering the time and state we’re in perceiving information).
Information comes-and-goes, like how a moving thread 🪡 tangles and untangles knots 🪢. That’s how we learn and forget simultaneously, we trap information that fits.
I'm a metalhead but i am pretty extrovert and social.....i very deeply enjoy the depth of metal music, be it heavy metal, death metal, or black metal....each has its own soothing feel and complexity....i do also enjoy alternative rock music sometimes.....Music just makes me happy....Life's always good with music and energy....
Something my dad taught me when I was younger is that every song you listen to tells a story, and it's up to you to figure out what that story tells.
💯💯💯💯
For me, my playlists have most genres, although are primarily stuff like emo/pop/punk type stuff. Personally, i don't look at genre but the song itself. Pretty much if i can vibe with it and i like it, it goes in a playlist. I have a bit of almost everything, some country, some rap, some slightly older from like the 90s/early 2000s, its just a mix of genres and I have one playlist on spotify thats over 24 hrs long so its a lot.

I kind of bounced around between genres all my life. In fifth grade I briefly listened to classic rock due to this show I use to watch called supernatural. By high school, I was listening to rap and hip hop, (Pop at times) which I'm convinced was just a phase because that's what most of my schoolmates would listen to and I was very selective depending on the lyrics. Out of high school I was really just playing video game soundtracks in the background while I did whatever. Despite this, I always caught myself coming back to country music, probably because I grew up with my dad listening to it. I feel like each country song is like a story about a point in somebody's life. As a fairly creative person who writes in his own time, this is probably why songs like, "What hurts the most" resonated with me more than anything else. With that being said, I feel this video is only half right about me. I wouldn't consider myself outgoing or emotionally stable, and I'd be down to experience anything new with the right group of people. But making new friends is nerve-racking as hell, haha. It should go without saying, I'm very introverted, but at least being hardworking and being around others, mainly a few close friends who share my interests, does describe me quite a bit.
Funny story, on the first day of school in sixth grade, my teacher had everyone write down a question on a piece of paper and throw it across the room and we all had to pick one up. I got the one that asked what music I listened to of course, and not sure what to say since I wasn't really into anything in particular at the time I responded, "Country". The entire class erupted in laughter, and I was extremely embarrassed. When the same thing happened to another kid who liked metal, the teacher got after everyone.
I'm pushing the line of the standard Hip Hop fan. I'm generally high on self-esteem but pretty much an introvert, I'm comfortable in social settings but truthfully never wanna be there lol
Soft rock, Country, Ambient, Vaporwave, Synthwave, and DOOM-like music to play games where you just kill enemies like John Wick. Also Cyberpunk 2077 & Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tracks are the BEST. Especially "I Really Want to Stay at Your House", "This Fffire"...
Also yeah I like to listen to Video Game OSTs sometimes, like TLoU & TLoU PART II, and again, Cyberpunk 2077... the list is really big.
The metal part is 100% accurate
Me a metalhead who also loves classical music: guess I got the whole creative introvert package right there 😅(kinda true tho)
I've always enjoyed a wide variety of genres. But my music journey started with listening Audiomachine, two steps from hell, immediate music etc.
Back in 2015 I've discovered Erutan and her unique take on folk-medieval style.
After that I've started to dig deeper. Skillet and vocaloid peaked my interests eventually.
Currently I'm more inclined towards Uplifting trance and symphonic metal (nightwish)
Anime is a big factor in my music taste.
I like those first 3 too

I love a lot of music, but the only genre I can say I don’t like is probably pop. For me, it’s just too mainstream!
But (unpopular opinion nowadays) I really love country music. For those of you who don’t like it or think it’s stupid, I think you should look at the lyrics of the songs. Songs like “Brothers” by Dean Brody and “Travelin’ Soldier“ by The Chicks are really beautiful. I don’t always listen to country, but when I do, I feel happy, at ease, and inspired. ☺️
Thank you Psych2Go for an awesome video!! Love you guys 🧡
completely agree with you, country music is not all that popular today, and I personally think country is one of the best genres of music,
Rock and heavy metal is so true for me, and it's all I listen to (and my dad and sister call it trash, but it's what I like, and it help me drown out everybody/everything else)😉

My 2 favourites are indie and rock and it matches me a lot-
Couldn't have been more wrong about rap and hip hop. Many rappers came to music due to mental illness, trauma, and/or isolation, and the fans are into it because it speaks to them personally. It can give comfort mainly to isolated introverts.
As a creative individual, I appreciate various genres of music primarily due to the emotions they evoke. Depending on the situation I may prefer to listen to a specific genre at any given moment, mainly so I can immerse myself in the music and learn from its emotions.
My Playlist on Spotify is so mixed that it's difficult to pin just one down. There's Broadway, female punk, lots of LGBT, but i think if i had to pick one genre over all the ones i enjoy it'd have to be Celtic music. I LOVE Irish music so freaking much!

What about people who listen to songs they relate to? I listen to a lot of Vocaloid which can be difficult to categorize due to its branching genres. But I listen to a lot of the…depressing songs. (Ex: Rolling Girl, Lost One’s Weeping, Jishoumushoku, Inochi ni Kirawarete iru).
That's indie music I think
I have an entire book about the psychology of metal. It's called Hard, Heavy & Happy by Nico Rose
Yeah I believe this video is true for me, I love punk and indie, Green Day being the favorite for me. And yes I'm an introvert and a wall flower, but I guess I know several rock lovers who are the biggest extroverts and are the most outgoing guys I have ever met. So, yeah I believe a music taste can't define anyone at all.
My favourite genres are pop, rap and hip-hop and especially the hip-hop description was quite the opposite of me. Though I agree that I like to define myself with music - it sometimes makes me feel energised, self-confident or excited which are things that I naturally miss and would like to have/be.

What about folk/pseudo-folk? My favourite playlist is a bunch of songs you could potentially hear on a fantasy adventure. Dulaman, the Misty Mountains, Sa Rider Jag Mig, Rolandskavedet, etc.
I had to say that - Rock and Heavy Metal are very different genres, the fact the instruments are the same instruments isn't related. Ever heard of RHCP? They are rock. Rock isn't necessarily loud, and heavy metal is way more extreme
You are very correct to say that rock, and metal are very different genres. But you also forget to realize that rock music, in general, can also be loud, and heavy. There are plenty of noise rock bands like "helmet" who also have high levels of distortion in their guitars. But does that make them metal? Nope.
So just keep in mind that not all rock music sounds the same.
