I am in the market for a new reel, I have watched so many videos on the SLX. You did a great job comparing them. Well done keep the content coming Ladybass !
Great review of these reels. If i had to pick one of the three reels, I'd go with the SLX XT. That seems more my liking. I'm not at all interested in the DC technology. It's nice, but I'd rather master the baitcaster than for it to do all the work for me.
Well said Young man well said I think she is a very special person you don't see girls like her in the industry. And she has been on u tube for a long time. I think she was on a Canadian fishing show a few times. But very talented young lady with out a doubt.
Even if you were reading off all you were saying for the presentation it was impressive! If all that came off the top of your head , UNBELIEVABLY IMPRESSIVE!! You’ll have your own show one day if that’s the route you wants go!!👍🏻
Amazing review. Very detailed, no messing. Made a decision so much easier to make. I can now go out and make an informed decision based on my own abilities and budget. Subbed.
OK ladies and gentlemen, fishing all my life. Great video BTW, I just want to add one thing. DC imo is what she said a specialty tool. I have only found that DC reels only really help while casting any clumsy or less stream line casting lures that may tumble a lot or catch wind easy. IE: Chatterbait, spinner baits, A-Rigs etc... That's where years of fishing many reels and DCs as well. That's where I only have found that for the money they cost they only truly shine and are worth it for those applications along with skipping distances and windly conditions. They fall short of helping in short skipping and flip/pitch. Just a couple more tips. IMO SLX XT overall the best if you can only get one. Thanks again for the video. Great job. tight lines
My SLX 150DC XG I fall in 😍❤ with her,at first I put fluorocarbon on her but then went to 15 pd Powerline and made my Forest cast ever!,she cast out all 120 yards WITHOUT a backlash, blow my mind!!,, I love how you can use all different setups on this real anything from jigs to senko to a 4 inch swim bait.i enjoy your video, keep up the good work!
thank you very much for comparing these three reels. i am newbie in fresh water fishing who confused in choosing a baitcasting reel sub 200$. this video helped me a lot. and finally I made my choice, SLX DC is the best choice for me. Best regards from Bali - Indonesia
I've watched your videos on and off over the past year or so, and today I was on amazon where some reviewer or q&a person pointed to your channel about the slx reels.
I know it's been a year and you probably won't see this, however, thank you for this video! I was unsure of which to get, but you were super informative and helped me decide upon the SLX DC. Absolutely love it!
Thank you that was real informational I just started learning how to use a baitcaster last year and I really enjoy it but I want to step up my game and I believe that you help me decide what I want to do thank you again good fishing
Another Great vid. Thanks. I have the SLX, which I love, and the SLX XT, and I agree the SLX XT is worth the extra $30 US. But from every thing I’ve read the SLX DC is not worth an additional $50 over that.
I don't care what anyone says I've used all main company reels all doyo reels etc. Hagane is not a gimmick. The feeling of the reel completely changed with the hagane body for the better. No flex, feels stronger than any reel I've ever used. It's such an improvement.
Great job, I have three slx baitcasters and like them a lot. And I am ready to buy another reel and was wondering about the others but not now. I love Shimano reels ! Thanks
got a curado DC before the SLX DC being new to baitcasting got more confident got a SLX XT and really like it the baitcasters make it more enjoyable starting to get the arsenal built up likin shimano thanks LB for your help in picking the right equipment you are spot on
I think the SLX is the most worth. In my opinion you don’t need the digital chip or the abs breaking system. The SLX is what I have and it casts really really far, and also is extremely light and sturdy. You don’t need the extra 10 yards of casting distance while paying 150 more dollars, but that’s my opinion. Great review! You really did a good job explaining everything!
First off all the difference in price is $89 not $150 like you said so you should probably check your facts before acting like you know what you're talking about anyway the extra 10 yards of casting distance was from the SLX to the SLX XT And you gain even more from the DC Not to mention casting distance isn't the only thing.
Really enjoyable video. I'm looking for my very first baitcaster, I found the SLX and just started researching. I will be fishing from my paddle board. I'm serous but not that serous. I'm a gear guy but simple is good too. $100 range also good. I'll be watching more of your videos.
Hey great video and as they always say, you get what you pay for. It is better to spend the money now on a quality reel than buy a cheaper one because they last and perform wayyy better!! Catch a big one and hoping to see some more videos!! :)
great video young lady, I was wondering what the difference between all the Shimano SLX reels were and Im glad you made this video, very well explained!!! thank you!
people just getting into fishing these days are kinda lucky that so much good gear is available at low to mid prices. when i learned to use a baitcaster, it was on a garcia 5000. reels didn't even have mag brakes back then. adjusted for inflation i bet those reels were more expensive than the ones you show. i have a curado dc, and i like it, it's a good reel. even the lew's mach 2 i have is a pretty good reel for the money.
I remember when the shimano citica e was $99, (have 2) the curado e was $150 (have 4 ) and the chronark e was $200 (have 6). Just picked up an slx dc and the slx with svs brakes, very impressed with both. I have bought all my Shimano E reels back around 2010, and they are bullet proof, still going strong. I have had to change some bearings, and gears and drag pads but they keep on catching fish. I have high hopes for the slx
Beckman I am very happy with it! I use the dc on a Med hvy rod for skipping jigs and the other with svs on my hvy Flippin and pitching rod. Both cast amazing, drag is super strong and they reel in a fish very smooth. I like being able to adjust the brakes without opening the reel.
As someone who is very new to baitcasting, this was a great video. I am leaning towards a SLX but DC also sounds really good. I think if I purchased a DC reel, I would use it as a crutch instead of making me a better caster with time and effort.
The Casitas doesn't have a strong frame, it's weak composite plastic from what people have said. Flexes alot under heavy loads. Not saying it's a bad reel just isn't meant to be a workhorse.
Fantastic comparison video!!! Shimano should hire you full-time. Because of you I purchased a 3000 Nacsi fantastic spinning reel I'm going to buy an SLX DC for my son's first baitcasting reel. Thank you so much for making up my mind. 🤙😎☮️🙏
I have two Nasci in the 3000 for about 2 fulls years now. Great reels. I used them pond fishing Lizards and ribbon tail worms. Lately I've been on my Stradics more and my SLX.
@@MsTheSteffy I was curious if that DC technology was as good as a experienced thumb. After checking the specs on these reels they don't hold enough line. I'd emty the spool with 20 lb mono bombing big baits like walking topwaters. That's mainly why I stick with Daiwa. Most of their reels hold more line capacity at a lesser price point. I very seldom use less than 20 lb test in Texas waters
Kinda late, but thanks for the amazing review Not decided yet, but you certainly help me on my may to make a decision. I'll subscribe, to your channel as they are informative and I believe honest as well. Thanks again!
Difficult to say where to put my money. Save or get a dc. Some say mgl outperforms dc reels. Whats the differances between mgl and xt, lighter spool weight giving more feet?
SLX in U.S. retails for 99, SLX DC retails for 189.99. 90$ difference not 50$, could make or break the decision for someone. I’ve never used the SLX but the DC casts pretty great and handles great although it doesn’t feel as solid as a Tatula.
I think the curado k is a little bit smoother and maybe more solid but for the price I think xt is more worth they feel almost the same, I have not fish any of the reel but have tried it
If you can afford that bracket the Curado is the better reels. SLX is is great starters. Shimanos no matter witch one you can afford are the best choice.
Thanks for your reviews and work. Have you had any use with the SLX DC after you lose some line off the spool? How much is the performance impacted by the loss of line ?
I was also concerned about this issue since it’s recommended to keep the reel fully spooled for best performance. For this reason I’ve been using leaders to preserve the length of my main line.
I had a full spool of Fluro and got stuck on a tree while casting and had a terrible birds nest lost half of the spool and it still cast a country mile🤣
@@LadyBass I first started out with the 7ft MH but went to a 6'6 MF,I'm thinking of going back to the 7ft MH cause I like to use a jig alot. I'm still playing around with it but I love my SLX!
I have the $100 slx and I recently bought the slx dc. It’s definitely not worth the 90 dollars. I have flurocarbon on the slx put kvd line conditioner on it and put the brakes on 2-3 and it will cast a mile even with 10-15 mph wind. Caught 3 fish on that reel with no backlash(slx).
Its hard to compare since one is a DC and one is not. That being said DC is a great tool to have! The K is a great reel but if you feel like you have a use for a DC id go for it

michael johnson agreed. Even the $100 reel from the $190 dc isn’t worth it. You can buy so much more for 80 bucks like tackle, line or a rod.
Agree. If you must get a DC then step up and get a Curado at least. Otherwise the SLX XT can get about anything done.
Very well put! You definitely made me think differently about the dc's of course id rather have all dcs but having 5-6 rods with me it gets expensive!
