memory song is definately the most interesting, olimar says that it makes him worry for future events, which makes people think pikmin 4 takes place before 3, but the song is called "memory song" which obviously references that pikmin 3 takes place before 4.

Louie hasn't eaten a shipment of golden pikpik carrots yet, which means that this game is before Pikmin 2 (and consequently, before Pikmin 3).
The side mode seems to imply that this is an alternate version of Pikmin 1.

You press A while observing them to get a closer look. Some treasures will allow you to interact further with the A button. Hope this helps :)
