    I did the mod today. Thanks for the useful video. I had decided to let a pro do the job, but after seeing this video, I went ahead and did it myself. The 350 steering wheel is a must have.

    Hey, my Brotha' from anotha': Where were you when I needed your advice on the paddle shifter extensions blocking the airbag release holes? Yes, indeed--I had a major problem! You see, I want to install the GT350 wheel on my own 2017 GT. However, I permanently glued on my paddle shifter extensions with JB Weld epoxy. Oh, yeah! You guessed it! I was screwed! I absolutely could not reach the airbag release holes! I needed to take them off as a dry run to practice the steering wheel removal. So, what did I do? Sigh... I had to take my Dremel and ream holes though my aluminum paddle shifters (I have the same red ones you do). Yes, I did fuck them up doing that, but fortunately--I actually wanted to replace my paddle shifter extensions with the carbon fiber extensions anyway. Therefore, I was back into a winning situation as my destruction of my current paddle shifters meant I was able to remove the air bag and thus, the steering wheel! CJ Pony parts and the manufacturer of the paddle shifter extensions need to give the exact same warning you ingeniously gave: That is, THE PADDLE SHIFTER EXTENSIONS BLOCK THE HOLES TO THE AIRBAG RELEASE SPRINGS! In addition--you would think that the manufactures would have already provided notches in them so as to not block those damn holes!!! Geeeez!!!

    Other videos are not as detailed or as specific with the paddle shifter change over. GOOD JOB, excellent video, saved me the $120 having the dealership make the swap. I'd like to know how you made or changed the center marker to white? My 50th is also white/black trim white stitching. I can see it would be a nice touch. Suggestions?

      Thanks! Glad it helped you out. The strip on my steering wheel is covered with white vinyl. I don't think they sell it on their site, but if you call Anchor-Room.com they'll probably work something out for you. Just tell them you saw my video.

    Hi, I know you posted this a long time ago. I just finished this process on my 19 GT. For some reason after reconnecting the battery I have a airbag light and code on my Ford pass app that I can't seem to remove even with a code scanner. Do you have any ideas of troubleshooting? So far the code scanner didn't work. I tried unplugging the positive and negative. Let it sit for an hour. Plugged it back in. Still showing airbag light and a code message on fordpass app

    how did you manage to remove the paddle shifter extensions. The double sided tape seems to be holding on pretty tight and afraid to break something trying to get those things off?

    HI there, Great video, I have a automatic mustang same with you, I really want to know how to remove the paddle shifter extension. I used the 3M tape when I installed and now it's really tight. What do you suggest me to do when removing it? Thanks

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, when I removed my extensions, I used a heat gun to help loosen the tape and then I used a plastic pry tool to get the extension off. Just be careful as the aluminum extensions get extremely hot.

    how much torque do I need to apply on the nut holding the steering wheel?

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. It's 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm) The complete manual with all of the torque specs can be found here: performanceparts.ford.com/download/instructionsheets/FordInstShtM-3600-M350R_FP.pdf

    Hey guys,
    whats the best way to remove the paddle shifters without damaging anything?

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You talking about the stock paddle shifters or the paddle shifter extensions? The stock ones just unscrew as shown around the 9:20 mark of the video. The extensions are easiest removed by using a heat gun to warm it up and then pry them off with a panel removal tool. You have to be careful using this method though, because the extensions are aluminum so they will get extremely hot. Wearing gloves is recommended.

    Hey for the steering wheel why is the gt350r cheaper than the gt350 wheel? How is the steering wheel holding up?

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn't noticed a price difference, but it's been a while since I've looked. My guess would be because of the red stitching. The GT350 blends better with most interiors, so companies may have started discounting the GT350R one. And the steering wheel is holding up great! I love it!

      is the shifting fast?

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is tuned, so it runs a bit differently than stock. But, there is no noticeable lag with the paddle shifters and even stock I enjoyed it.
