I took the Jesus line not necessarily as an anti religious thing but as a “our society as is today would just kill him again like we did the first time”. More of us as people still aren’t good.

Fun fact with the lyrics! Oli has actually mentioned (in a YT comment & expanded on NME) that this song lyrically is a comment on society, more specifically the Israel/Palestine conflict where the 1st verse is a victim of violence criticising the west & the 2nd verse is the victim speaking/pleading/criticising their government. The Jesus lyric (which caught some controversy despite both bands history with religious/non-religious lyrics), was topical based on the location of said conflict (not JUST for the shock factor).
The backwards lyrics also links to their ARG that has released with the album- direct translation can be found on Genius :)

All the capital letters in their song titles ended up forming a password on a hidden website the band put in a QR code that you can get from looking at Dig It in a spectrogram. Absolutely insane

Highly encourage you to watch a new interview with Oli where he discusses that controversial line about Jesus. He has proclaimed to be a staunch atheist for a long time but he says he has evolved and matured. And he can’t deny there is something bigger than us. He’s not going full Christian or anything. But the line wasn’t to be offense. It’s the idea that if Jesus came back we would just kill him again (with the way the world is right now…). He spoke a lot about war and the song. Good interview. I think it’s NME?? I’m probably totally wrong but if you can’t find it, let me know. Was a great interview.

There's a place beyond our bones. Like our souls go to a better place. And I've believed that for a long time. The man in the clouds just sounds too far fetched. I've been forced into religion. And the Answers they come up with," HE has a plan" just ain't a good enough answer. No-one really knows. And we're not meant to for a reason.
With the song featuring Underoath, this is more of a nod to classic 2000s and old-school screamer with a modern twist.
The Underoath feature was probably one of the best things in this song, they brought their own sound in this song and were featured properly. They were on the second verse, second chorus and part of the bridge.
They are the best reaction duo I've ever seen, I love how they appreciate the lyrics of the song as well as the rhythm, plus I love BMTH and I really enjoy every time they upload a reaction of them! Dig it should be next, it has a lot of surprises :)

As a British person, I think it’s much more likely that its titled “a bullet w my name on” rather than “a bullet w my name on it” because that’s just how most British people would say it and adding “it” to the end just feels odd and clunky. With the lyrics of the song and the way everything was phrased, I took the "Jesus" lyric more like even if Jesus did come back, we wouldn't believe it and would end up killing him in the same way or worse, so In the end it wouldn't matter because of how backwards society has become now, or in a way always has been. Underoath is an amazing band. Every one of their songs is a metalcore/post hardcore banger.
Fun fact, Underoath started as a Christian Band. And it was actually Spencer and Aaron from Underoath saying that line. It wasn't a statement about wanting to kill Jesus... It was a statement implying that if Jesus did come back, we(humanity) would just end up killing that fucker twice. I do not believe they still perform as a Christian band. I'm not staying I know them individually either. But that's how I interpreted it. I'm also not Christian, or any kind of theology fan.

This song reminds me of how flawed we are as a whole. No matter how good we are we are flawed still. God looking down and seeing how far we all have fallen and knowing the end is going to be like the beginning, broken from the start. His signs are being seen and nobody answers so he says it's goodbye and you get what you deserve. It's the grieving of the holy spirit is what it's about.
One of favs on the album. Loved the way the blended the album. But you can tell the ones Jordan Fishedo produced or left midway.

There were three very early songs on their first album that I fell in love with: Shadow Moses, Can You Feel My Heart, and And the Snakes Start to Sing. I was introduced to these guys on a flight to New Zealand or Air New Zealand, who love to advertise local talent. Shadow Moses was huge in both Australia and New Zealand. Quite a different style back then but still awesome.
