I sometimes like your videos first and then watch them. I do this because I know ahead of time I'm going to like whatever you put out there. Thanks for all your efforts....see, I just finished this video and I was right, I would like it.
One of the questions asked about getting spray adhesive off of projects. I used blue painter's tape on my projects and apply my templates onto the blue tape. When I am done cutting my pattern, I just peel off the blue tape and no fuss, no mess to deal with
Hey Steve , Thanks for the micro jig adds , bought two of them . Makes my work much more enjoyable , I used to dread cutting smaller pieces on the table saw and on the router. I install marine electronics and I make my own adapter plates for new electronics to fit. I enjoy your video's thanks !
Yeah right Doctor. Bigger on the inside indeed. :) That was really good advice about picturing things in your head before actually doing them. That has saved me a lot of fingers over the years.
great answer to on how to avoid accidents steve! i have the same approach, i would imagin what will happen if something slips and where my hands will be. being a mechanic ive avoided bruises and cuts for a few years now.
You are the man, having said that I have alternatives to not having a jointer or plainer. A lot of things I can thin down on either the table saw with a riving knife and a zero clearance insert, or the bandsaw. I usually use glue sticks to stick paper onto wood. Try it sometime.
I think it's really cool that people like you are able to make a living out of doing this stuff. I don't really have the right kind of mind or resources to make popular videos and get paid enough to live - I'm ok about it though.
Nice questions and answers, was entertained. The sudden sound change totally made my head spin for some reason. :D Somewhere around 3:45 :D Probably because I had headphones on.
Love your vids. Have you noticed all the vids that are coming out lately that seem to 'copy' your style? I can name at least 12. Oh well, imitation is the best form of flattery.
hi steve, i'm a begginer/hobby guitar builder and have finished 1 guitar just over a year ago. i'll record a few jingles on it for you if you want? what length of intro/ outro/ inbetweeny bits do you need? i'll make them up, maybe a bit jazzy/classical major or minor feels. keep on chippin away steve. vernon
Not sure if you're already aware, but look for "copyleft" and "creative commons" licensed music. You might have to attribute the song and you need to be careful of which Creative Commons license was used.
Here in San Diego, they're starting to work away from wooden pallets now. Costco, Home Depot, and Ace are a few bigger names that are starting the push towards "plastic" pallets because they're cheaper in the long run due to they're life span.
Jason Haeger It's a composition of recycled plastic based waste. Not sure about the pricing, but a friend of mine who works at costco said it's cheaper because they don't have to pay for the pick up of used wooden pallets, I guess they have a type of deal where in the plastic pallets get picked up for free by our local recycling plants.
MyTurtleCollab A lot of places get their pallets through a service, that's why you see them painted red or blue all over. I imagine some of the services have switched to plastic now. I don't know about costco, but some stores just ship back the previous load's pallets on the empty trucks back to the distribution center.
MyTurtleCollab Plastic pallets are reused by the company that owns them. For instance, Costco would send product out on pallets from the warehouse, then the empty pallets are taken back to the warehouse for re-use. Plastic pallets nest, the legs are hollow and tapered like plastic drinking cups so they fit inside each and save space.
To be honest, it's the way to go if you are a big company shuffling stuff hither and tither nationally. It's been going on for years in the UK for internal transport. Anything from overseas will still be normal pallets for at least ten years until there is a worldwide standard, just like shipping containers. It is "green" at the end of the day. The world rotates once every 24 ish hours, but to turn the world around takes 50 years.!?!
i like these mere minis keep them going also have you seen april wilkerson shes a young women doing woodworking its a good thing to see a young woman into woodworking i think everyone should be doing woodworking
Worked with chemicals in manufacturing. Some nasty stuff got spilled onto pallets, and floors in the warehouse. Forklifts tires spreading throughout warehouse. Never segregated, so some probably got shipped out with finished goods. Chemical contaminated pallets loaded onto trailers, stuff falls onto floor of trailer. Pallets contaminating pallets. Wouldn't be surprised if some of these trailers eventually carried food. History of pallets unknown. I definitely would not use pallet wood for anything food related, nor lick one. Food for thought.
If this video weren't so old I would recommend you contact Matt Koon to write you some original music. Anyone in 2021 or after who needs original music for videos or whatever, Get Matt Koon. Search MattKoonMusic
I like your California map, and thougt that I would do the same. But I live in Denmark, and have you ever seen a map of Denmark ? 16.639 sqmile, 4.545 mile of coastline, 1419 islands, so never mind.
As far as pallet wood safety goes pallets are branded with how they have been treated. HT on a pallet means that it has only been subjected to "Heat Treatment". So it is wood that has just been heated up. If a pallet doesn't have the mark HT on it then who knows? All pallets do have to have some kind of treatment though because you just don't want to be shipping little insect critters all over the world. Some terrible environmental catastrophes have already happened because of bugs from pallets.
I could help with the theme song if you can send me a contact point I can help with the theme song. I am not a crazy person I actually want to help. But the way I love your channel.
#askmemo So you don't have a normal job? I had the impression from older videos that you did some sort of graphic design related stuff. Is youtube all your money or do you do freelance or something too?
Fun new series. I like these.
Boat making tools! Funny.

I have to say that I appreciate the odd Dr. Who references in your videos, Steve. They always make me laugh. Another good video, keep it up!
Thanks for the heads up on the carpet tape. I think I bought the wrong kind. I'm constantly having to clean tape residue off my projects.

I'm thinking of a question....good stuff Steve.
