    I'm imagining shock absorption without friction and rail cars that glide on a magnetic field. You could you turn propellers with this and slow a car's wheels with magnetic force. Oh man I need shoe insoles made of these. Literally floating on a magnetic field with every step. You could also use this to dampen shock waves in buildings.

    Thank you for this demo, I couldn't find a video as good as this one.

    Would it be possible to use a sheet of bismuth to act as magnetic shield?
    I know this doesn't work with conventional magnets but I wonder if this can work with polymagnets using small magnetic fields.
    Thanks!!

    I'm wondering if it would be possible to create--either in whole or in part--a frictionless system of virtual gears using free-floating magnets held in place by each others' magnetic fields, in a vacuum chamber (to make it frictionless.) Instead of cogs with teeth, it would be invisible fields of magnetic force.

    How long are these magnets expected to last under normal conditions of vibration, heat, and 'flux leakage'(? i.e. what happens if you don't store standard magnets with keepers in place) ? If these magnets are spinning around each other... won't the AC magnetic field tend to deprogram them? Perhaps not a big affect for a latch... but I recall you claiming you had magnetic gears which I can imagine people wanting to rev to high rpm.

    Does these Polymagnets last long enough like the conventional magnets?

    • @Bourinos02
      @Bourinos02 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it all depends on the magnet material they chose, but if it's strong enough, it's as permanent as a neodymium-iron-boron i.e. pretty damn permanent.

      I'm not so sure...
      Field life if closely related to how they are used. With these, a portion of the field is always in conflict... and conflicting fields often degrade lifespans (thus, why industrial magnets are separated for long term storage).

    I bought a bunch of these magnets, how do I get them apart? Seriously, is there a trick?

    • @olestrohm
      @olestrohm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you're talking about the strong magnets, they can probably be slid off or "tilted off" like a normal magnet, but I have yet to get myself some, so I am not entirely certain.

    • @BariumCobaltNitrog3n
      @BariumCobaltNitrog3n 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're very strong. I finally got them apart with two pair of pliers and slid them off each other. Keep the plastic disk between them for sure.
