@@Vergil512 no it's just funny how Hollywood magic works I've never seen anyone doing repairs on any of the ships (in these films) after so many cannonballs go through but i had no idea he got the ship off of Davy Jones so that makes sense🍻
@@justharrison6862 Agreed 100% I to believe it repairs itself. Jack has a magical ship raised from the depths by a tentacle faced cursed Davy Jones and Jack has a magical compass, im pretty sure the black pearl healing itself isn't that hard to believe.
I remember watching this at the theater on opening night. When Barbossa came out at the end, everyone went ballistic to applause! Great times! You need to watch all of the Pirates movies. Awesome reaction as always, Devin! 💯
The mark on Jacks hand was a target for the kraken. Like a smell to a lion. The compass points to what you want most, and because Jack didnt know what he wanted, saving Will, finding the key, finding the chest, rum, it didnt work for him. Which is why he made Will find the key and Liz to find the chest.
Since no one has said it yet, I will. Apparently, when Jack fell down those stairs while mocking Davy Jones, it was an unscripted accident from which Johnny Depp played on just like that. So the reactions of the crew are genuine 😂
I heard something different tho. That it was scripted that he had to fall. But instead of faking the fall, he fell for real. So he accidentally fell when he had to pretend to
@@Xgendude14 Oh yeah, I think I mixed that with the falling part. So the falling probably was scripted but JD accidentally fell naturally and from that he bounced with the unscripted "Jar of Dirt" song 😅
Ok, so the infamous compass was given to Jack by Tia Dalma (voodoo lady). It's special in two ways: 1. It never points north 2. It only points to the one thing you want most in the world. All that said, if you don't know what you want it won't work. Which leads to an interesting little scene when Jack Sparrow is rowing away from the Black Pearl as it's being attacked by the Kraken. Jack pulls out the compass, points it at the ship and looks at it. The look on his face suddenly turns to this incredulous "You've got to be kidding me" look, but we never see the compass. Presumably it pointed at the Pearl. Which means, for the first time, it would have appeared to point due north (directly in front of him) and reveal beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jack wanted to help.
I find it hilarious and awesome that Bill Nighy was Davy Jones, as well as Viktor from Underworld, Rufus Scrimgeour from Harry Potter, and Howard Clifford from Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. Quite the interesting career for that guy. The fact that that "I've got a jar of dirt" singing taunt was completely improv'd by Johnny Depp is also hilarious to me.
The black spot on Jack's hand represented his debt to Davy Jones and it was what marked him as a target for the Kraken. The reason the compass had a hard time working for Jack was because he wanted so many things. The compass points to what you want most. Jack wanted to be immortal like Davy Jones but he didn't want the responcibility that went with the job. And if he didn't have a bottle of rum in his hand, the compass would point to the nearest rum.. So that compass was all over the place. But now he has been eaten by the Kraken and has been sent to Davy Jones' Locker to be punished for not paying his debt. Now it's time for the third movie. "At Worlds End"
@Devin liked seeing you react to the next one as well :). The only 2 films I liked were the first two. Greed made the series go on far longer then it needed to be.
The cast weren’t told it would be Barbossa coming down those steps. They through it would be Zoe Saldana’s character from the first movie. So their reaction is authentic
There is a reason why Barbossa was kept alive, in fact, there are few pirates that shares his situation, if they die without passing their leadership as a captain, they will always be revived.
They said several times what the compass does. It shows you what you most want. The voodoo lady also clearly said Jack doesn't know what he wants. Therefore, the compass just spins around because Jack wasn't certain what he wanted. Once he knew for certain the compass pointed straight at the Black Pearl. He truly wanted his ship.
32:37. I absolutely love the delivery of this line. This is quintessential Sparrow. Suave, intelligent, crafty, wordy. This is the part of him that I felt the last pirates movie missed out on a lot. Not totally, but a lot.
I know Devin. I was stoked to see Barbosa come back at the end. He's one of my favorite characters. After the first time or 2 watching Pirates 1 I started to see Barbosa differently. Sure he did some villainous things but given that he was cursed and trying to get the curse removed from him and his crew... I mean... What wouldn't anyone do to free themselves from the curse that leaves you forever starving, parched of thirst, and unable to feel ANYTHING. And at the end of it all he didn't even get to eat his apple. I love that he takes a nice big bite of an apple at the end of this film. Way ta go, mate. Ya finally got to eat your apple.
The story of jack sparrow is really good for sure. He freed 100 slaves off a ship he was working on which earned him the pirat status. While doing so the ship burned and sank. He made a deal with Davy Jones to bring back the ship (shich he did) but it was still black from the fire -> black pearl. The price of 100 souls was made for the 100 slaves he once saved (and therefore took from Davy Jones), a soul for a soul.
That first rainy scene where all of the soldiers form up on a beach in a hurricane reminds me of a change of command ceremony at Fort Bliss. Only, it was a sandstorm instead of a thunderstorm 😂
Great reactions bro keep up the amazing work. Just love how Jack just got done explaining what the compass points to and then you say how confused you are and question what the compass points to 😂 btw it points to what you want most in the living world
Watching people watch these movies a million times is awesome, I seeing cherries get popped. XD Barbossa coming back, Jack dying, Will's dad, E becoming more and more pirate, great story. I love your reactions, can't wait for the next.
9:20 There's multiple tribes like this. Some are friendly but like to be left alone, some have been integrated into society as best as possible and some are just too hostile to approach so are left alone

Hey Devin I feel I should remind you in the last movie when the curse was initially revealed to you that you pretty firmly proclaimed you would hate it haha.
the british military. back in the day gave their sailors rum equivalent to an hours pay a day. as being on a boat there was NO water to drink and on land it keep the soilders happy from home.. it wasnt till after the fire of london and plumbing was put it things changed.
the compass points to what you want most so if you're conflicted about that it can't work the black mark means the kraken is coming for you. he didn't pay back davey jones in time. weird because you think he'd have plenty of time even with so much wasted. guess he forgot.
The black pearl is an enchanted ship jack got from Davy Jones. The special ability of the ship is that its the absolute fastest ship in the world.
And it seems to repair itself😅

My favorite out of the whole franchise
The Black Pearl is the fastest ship on the sea, that is why people want it.
Davy Jones is one of the BEST characters in movies, bro is goated

Extended version has a scene explaining lair's dice, Will challenges him once before his father jumps in the second game.
Barbossa did die. The voodoo lady brought him back.
Was waiting for this one, thanks Devin! Getting some movie snacks ASAP!

The compass points to what you most desire.
It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects!
Davey Jones is my favorite character. Him and Barbosa. "Jaaack!"

the compas points to what u want most in the world, and if that's a place, a moving object, or a person, it will point to that...
This movie still has some of the best special effects ever made, and it came out in 2006. David Jones is a masterpiece.
This is the best in the franchise in my opinion, Davy Jones is a cool villain.
29:51 the compás doesn't work with Jack because he's so unsure and never knows what he wants
