Lewis is 100% correct in this case. The map maker got it wrong.
They could argue that because it is terrorist town, the civilians are all terrorists too. However, the pop up refers to the traitors as terrorists so probably not.
Also, there's plenty of maps they've done that have some ridiculously elaborate series of hoops to jump through for the innocent terrorists to win.

There was also one in a sort of office building where they had to push buttons to open an elevator. Traitors could reset the progress of it in the traitor room. But still with the wording innocents should have been the ones winning.

the civilians were terrorists too, just like the innocents. so by killing them, that awarded the opposite team the victory, the traitors.
Tom and Duncan's theory's were wrong but so was the mapmaker
Duncan's theory was "the mapmaker made a mistake and wrote terrorist instead of traitor, so in reality it's the traitors that win", so no, he was about as accurate as you could get.
@@jacobnorris8256 yeah but the mapmaker also made the logic mistake to assume the good traitors would be the ones to win by murdering a bunch of innocent civilians instead of the evil "innocents". and technically the traitors aren't even terrorists if they're undercover.
@@nonchip No, they're traitors, people who were originally allied with the terrorists but changed sides, not agents who were never on their side to begin with. Arguably those people can still be called terrorists until they've completely left whatever organization they were part of.
But yeah, you're right that the mapmaker was wrong here. The traitors should definitely not be the ones to kill civilians.
I bet everyone was 80% sure innocents would win but Tom and Dunc tested it out before hand.
@@jacobnorris8256 No, duncan did not understand anything, he just fell upon the answer accidentally. The mapmaker obviously inteneded for that to be an innocent win condition, it makes no sense as a traitor win condition. Duncan thought the wording implied that it was a traitor win condition, but it did not. innocent = terrorist, traitor = non-terrorist. Terrorist win = innocent win.

Tom says innocents quest win has never been a mechanic, when the majority of the quest wins on the maps they played are for innocents.
Off the top if my head, the only one I can think of was the one where the traitors had to steal briefcases and put them onto a conveyor belt.
Other than that map objectives usually benefit the innocents.

To be honest, it doesn’t help when the map maker doesn’t understand it either.
sometimes gameplay needs to come before story. Especially in a game where the story is in no way connected to the gameplay.

So the undercover cops can win by slaughtering the civilian population. Something tells me people get good and bad mixed up in this game a lot.

The terrorists are literally called Innocents, so it's easy to forget they're actually the bad guys.
Lewis's logic was actually spot on, the map maker just didn't understand the game mode: in TTT, the traitors are like CIA infiltrators among the terrorist's ranks.
Duncan knew that the map maker probably meant traitors but did what everyone does and confused traitor for terrorist.
That Lewis possession betrayal was an incredible play. That's not something I get to say too often on here.

@@user-ec1bd6is1r It doesn't follow the lore. The innocent bystanders (NPCs) aren't terrorists, they are truly innocent. The innocents (players) are actually terrorists, and the traitors (the 2 players each round) have infiltrated the terrorists and are trying to kill them from within their ranks. It would only make sense for the traitors (good guys who have infiltrated terrorists) to be trying to stop the innocents (terrorists) from winning by killing all of the truly innocent NPCs. Not the other way around.

There are like 10 maps with innocent wins on them, this is the only map I have ever seen which has a traitor win.
Also the Deus Ex one, where you had to get the bomb to a chute (you may remember it as the one with Redstone Torches, and a murderous Chute Door)

I like to pretend the editors edit these so much that they just blindly live edit the Role Bar at the top as Lewis intros everyone in.
Poor editors were frantically backspacing in confusion as Lewis continuously added more and more yogs to the roster before giving up.
That possession play, holy shit. The fact he un-cuffed and gave him back his weapons is just the icing that makes it sooo sweet.
The fact that Wilsonator asked Tom for a Forever Traitor when Tom and Zylus were Traitor buddies is just so amazing.

Yeah, even as a Tom fan he was 100% wrong, just like the map maker. The only additional objectives in maps have always favoured the innocents before this one.

Best episode in a while. The montage with Zylus dying in it, Wilsonator's zombprime plays, Lewis's possession win... so many great moments.
My favorite part of this episode is Rythian's insane reaction to Lewis's detective win. That whole moment was just amazing. 12:51 for the start of Lewis's win btw.

Innocent wins have happened before, if I remember correctly they had to collect the artifacts and run them through a conveyor belt. That was a good map!

I don't think Duncan noticed he was being possessed, and was genuinely trying to get himself killed. He was pretty surprised after the round too.

Real talk, the win mechanic makes zero sense for traitors in both game mechanics and lore. Whoever came up with that idea really didn't think that one through. Also hate how smug Duncan became for the rest of the video up until Lewis possessed him after "Lewis was proven" wrong.
and he was talking shit about people making bad plays killing the jester. Duncan is the one who makes THE WORST PLAYS ALL THE TIME. god he's infuriating.
Yeah the map mechanic makes no sense because it adds a whole new level of stealth to the traitor play that nobody is gonna bother with.
The innocents have no reason to kill those civilians, so if anyone spots you, your cover is blown. Thus going for that win con is way too high a risk as opposed to simply killing all the innocents. As an innocent win con on the other hand, it's genius because the backdrop of all the gunfire involved in killing the civilians adds a nice cover for some quick and sneaky assassinations by the traitors.
Best play ever by Lewis dropping down that possession! Especially considering the risk since Duncan was the one who walked over it and was handcuffed!

MaMastoast The answer to that is simple. The map maker was wrong. Everyone is a terrorist, but traitors are the ones who are against the real terrorists and thus should be protecting civilians.

I mean, if you compare it to every other map with a convoluted win condition, it's usually the innocents who have to accomplish said task to win.
Why give the traitors an alternate win condition that is the exact same win condition as normal, just with more opportunities to be outed as a baddie? Even though the map is built this way, it's the wrong way it should be structured.
Yeah, and Tom says there's never been a map with an innocent win condition, despite the fact that they've played probably dozens maps that have had them, and nobody called him out on it.

Lewis taking over Duncan who was trying to throw to get back at Lewis is still one of the greatest moments. As soon as I saw that scene unfold, I remembered everything despite not watching this since it came out

I actually clapped when Lewis somehow had the best detective play ever, the only reason he was able to possess Duncan was because Duncan pleaded with Tom to let him be his minion because he wanted Lewis to loose, so Duncan wanting Lewis to loose is exactly what caused Lewis to win.
Lewis' logic with killing the civilians was correct, the mapmaker made a typo. There are a few maps that have mechanics like that that give the Innocents the win

This episode has some top tier moments. Rythian warning Zylus of the Doncon up the tower was great (even if it failed to save him, granted he died from falling), that possession play at the end. Rythian vs sudden death zombies

8:48 Off the top of my head: the map with the room that traitors can flood with gas. You had to find 4 flares and put them on the helipad to receive an item that gets put into a chute, Ben got crushed by the door as he was putting the item in. The drill bore map where the innocents had to activate 4 generators to activate the lift to get them to freedom.
I'm sad that Yogscast Seagal, Yogscast fountain and Bot001 only appeared in one video I really like their work it's sad to see them not invited back
Tom is wrong, there was actually that one map they played where you needed to find batteries or something in order to re-activate the "escape elevator", and if it made it all the way to the bottom of the shaft, the Innocents instantly won.
Lewis was totally right on this one. Additionally, there have been other auto-win mechanics for innocents before. I recall two other maps one where you had to press a bunch of buttons and get on an elevator, and another where you needed to pick up a battery or a flare or something.
To be fair Lewis SHOULD be correct based on what the map says. The map is wrong.
