At least the suit designs were unique for the time. Very angular sharp aerodynamic looking transitional period in gundam, at least for me, because going from watching the G Gundam, 08th MS and Gundam Wing Series along with the movies/Ovas on toonami and adult swim with 80s/ 90s perfectionist slavedriver art then G4 started playing SEED gease and other early 2000s mecha where only the designs saved from the atrocious stories, annoying characters, computer shortcuts and art timesavers. It was a big shift in Anime at the time plus it exploded in the West.
If I'm not mistaken Seed remaster is the first thing Gundam released on DVD/blu ray after the deal between Bandai and Sunrise ended. I don't remember the name of the new company that releases them but I'm pretty sure it starts with N. And it could be one of those things where each series will be released on DVD/blu ray by different companies rather one releasing them all. Also, it could be this released by Sunrise directly then everything else after is by another company. Additionally, since Sunrise still owns Gundam as a whole it's why this channel gets to upload these episodes.
After all these years this show still holds up so well. I remember being a 6 year old kid watching anime for the first time on YTV and just being amazed at the immensely complex storyline and the incredible art style of these shows. This, Inuyasha, and Sailormoon were phenomenal for what they were at the time. I missed that childhood sense of wonder. God this is great.
I was 10 years old when i watch this along side with inuyasha, hunter x hunter, detective conan and samurai x . now I'm 27 and still one of my favorite starter anime 🥰🥰
This is even funnier when the promotion art for Freedom references Dune part 2. Another film that unintentionally references "Life of Brian". Now all we need is Lacus to do a cover of "Always look on the bright side of Life".
This will be my 5th time rewatching this series. Every time I watched this, I always felt the cruelty of war especially when Athrun facing Kira, and when Strike stood up with the backdrop ablaze.

I watched this during its original run on YTV, and it was the anime that really hooked me on the genre. I'd liked it for years, but Gundam SEED is what made me LOVE anime! I was about 15, and while the battles drew me in, the story kept me watching.
The Strike Gundam rising up while the entire background is bursting with flames and explosion and followed by the smooth transition of ED is *chefs kiss* absolute perfection.

Athrun is such a savage. There is a reason that he is my 2nd favorite character. He shot that bitch and then came in with the knife, COD MW style. My favorite is Mu La Flaga. He's the only one on the leader boards without cheat codes, respect.
This is one of the first animes to truly integrate the ending song into part of the episode. And they did it perfectly. I haven't seen this series in 15 years and I still skipping to the end because I knew what I wanted to see.
It's so weird now hearing Kira so chill and carefree. Weird and horribly tragic. Knowing that this one year will break his entire spirit with so much dehumanization, even from those who don't mean it, and tragedy until he's nothing but a traumatized shell by the end of it, and all the more so two years after that. That one person who we'll meet in a few episodes is ultimately the reason he doesn't end up going over the brink only does help somewhat. And in a way, she ended up traumatized as well in the process. After these opening scenes, we'll never see this Kira again. He lost his freedom.
Poetic choice of words, I suppose receiving the freedom from Lacus later on was as much a metaphor for this as it was symbolically her entrusting Kira with her faith.
Lacus was the one person who never had any expectations or demands of who or what he should be. Only that he be Kira Yamato, whoever that is supposed to be by his definition. She clearly had no love for predefined ideas of what a person should be, something she also took Athrun to task for with his misguided sense of nationalism and loyalty. And when Kira started to think that he as the Ultimate Coordinator had no place in this world, she offered to be his place in the world. She chose him because he was the only one who had no illusions of who he was supposed to be, and was clearly chafing at the ones being forced upon him.

And sure, they didn't spend that much time together for her to put on the moves on him, but when she's surrounded by so many people with preconceived notions left and right, and here's this guy that is trying to break free from it, why wouldn't she be drawn to him?
This was the new busted hotness when it first came out. Although the stories and characters and art budget cuts were atrocious in the early 2000s the creative, new, organic and modern designs saved these series. Especially after the quality Gundam stories in series like 08th MS and Wing we came to expect from the 80s and 90s; although the mecha designs kind of stagnated from the 70s when everything felt like an RX 78 with extra bits. I came to like the bug like, big leg and lottsa thruster designs the early 00s brought us. They embraced the Zaku and Mobile Suit. You kind of felt like you had all this room for fuel, thrusters and heavy weapons while still being highly maneuverable and transformable. The small head, large back pack/Thrusters, small waist with thruster "skirt" and big feet late 90's early 2000s enemy gundam and mobile suits were my favorite of all.
So it back again my first gundam series that I watch as a kid . I remember watching this on YTV in Canada 🇨🇦 except it was dubbed but the voice actors and actresses were great.
My siblings and I were one of those kids who watched this anime way back then, now I'm rewatching it because there will be another sequel of this anime. This series definitely have lots of flaws but this became part of my childhood, I can let the flaws passed.
I just watched 08th MS Team here on GundamInfo, and seeing both series back-to-back it's quite apparent that the art style / animation quality of that is far superior to Seed even though Seed was released years later. I like Seed too of course, just that imagine if it had the same art style as 08th MS Team... wow.
Cant compare an ova with year long show. Each episode of 08th takes months to animate, not to mention no free broadcast on TV so you must buy each ep separately. Sure it would nice to watch Seed after its finished if Seed does have the animation quality of 08th, but when I was watching Seed on tv during the original broadcast I sure as hell would not think its worth it to buy each of the 50ep, probably cost couple hundred thosand yen in total, not to mention waiting years for the whole thing to finish. Style-wise, well lets just say Hirai's art style went from being in vogue to becoming so hated its politically incorrect to even defend it nowadays.
Yeah, it's the difference between traditional ink and paint VS very early digi-paint. A lot of early digital animation didn't age very well; it's why Turn A looks remarkably better than SEED despite being a few years older. Luckily, though, digital coloring has progressed and given us shows like Witch From Mercury.

Gundam Seed is really good at injecting their music making a lot of scenes epic. This one's ending, "Life Goes On" ending, Freedom's first flight with Meteor, "Honoo no Tobira" with Akatsuki and more! I never went to any concert but if there's a Gundam Seed concert in where I'm from, just take all my money!
I really don't get why are there anyone not like this Gundam. It's the best series of Gundam on my opinion. It has magnificent battle moment, it has romance, it has friendship conflict. It's like watching Naruto with Robots. Moreover I don't think there are any other Iconic Ship Like Arcangel.
I can agree this series will always be my favourite series in the gundam series. I’m still disappointed that they redubed the English version from Canadian voice actors to American actors.
It's .. not the best. But it's really solid. Also the archangel is literally a a redesign of white base from the og Gundam from 79. Actually it's a staple in the u.c. Gundam series for the earth side to have a ship that looks like the white base. This is Gundam seed's take on that. Actually Gundam seed in itself is pretty much a retelling of the original mobile suit Gundam. That's why alot of older fans didn't like it. Aside from the fact that it gets extremely melodramatic(which I'm fine with). I think seed pulls a lot from uc. But it doesn't quite nail it. I think as time as pressed on this, Gundam seed has stood be one of the better AU Gundam series. I put it up there next to turn A Gundam and G Gundam as the best of the AU series. And of course nowawdays with iron blooded orphans and now witch from mercury we have some really solid new editions. But if you were to ask me does seed compare to some of even the newer uc properties like unicorn, the adaptation of the origin, thunderbolt or even Hathaway. I'm gonna look at you side ways.

The directing in this episode reminds me why I love it so much. This is fantastic! It's a solid nod to Zeta Gundam, and looking back it also reminds me of Eva in a way. Great stuff.! I hope I can get through it all before it's gone.
21:09 Rusty was supposed to be Strike's pilot. And ZAFT would've won the war if Rusty were able to steal Strike here, since Kira wouldve died. But Hamana stopped that from happening. Hamana, the hero of Gundam SEED.
You know, I never noticed but the GINN got some really powerful thrusters. It went from the pod to the ground without needing parachutes or extra thrusters and propellant tanks to help slow the descent, like alot of other mobile suits like the ground Gundam or even the Mk2. Hell the Ginns, from the looks of it, was freefalling until its relatively close to the gruond before they even started to use the thrusters to slow down.

Gundam Seed is one of my favourite anime of all time. I've probably rewatched this series over 100 times (it was my first anime I saw with English Subs)
Even though it has it's issues, Gundam Seed is a solid series and will always appreciate it for being the first gundam series I've watched.

I just watched 08th MS Team here on GundamInfo, and seeing both series back-to-back it's quite apparent that the art style / animation quality of that is far superior to Seed even though Seed was released years later. I like Seed too of course, just that imagine if it had the same art style as 08th MS Team... wow.
Cant compare an ova with year long show. Each episode of 08th takes months to animate, not to mention no free broadcast on TV so you must buy each ep separately.
Sure it would nice to watch Seed after its finished if Seed does have the animation quality of 08th, but when I was watching Seed on tv during the original broadcast I sure as hell would not think its worth it to buy each of the 50ep, probably cost couple hundred thosand yen in total, not to mention waiting years for the whole thing to finish.
Style-wise, well lets just say Hirai's art style went from being in vogue to becoming so hated its politically incorrect to even defend it nowadays.
Yeah, it's the difference between traditional ink and paint VS very early digi-paint. A lot of early digital animation didn't age very well; it's why Turn A looks remarkably better than SEED despite being a few years older. Luckily, though, digital coloring has progressed and given us shows like Witch From Mercury.
Dulu nonton di Indosiar pagi2. Terus belum tamat yg Seed (tinggal beberapa episode lagi), dah lanjut aja yg Destiny dan tayangnya siang2 pukul 11.00 (kayanya hari Minggu, soalnya selalu sempat nonton, kalau sekolah g bakalan bisa).
Suara Athrun versi Indonesia ganteng banget. Masih selalu terngiang2. Tapi kabar sedihnya katanya pengisi suaranya sudah meninggal.
Dulu kurang paham sama ceritanya karena g pham perang dan politik. Tapi karena dah lebih dewasa dan tuwir😅, jadi nonton lagi sekarang biar paham. Dan ternyata bagus ceritanya

Gundam Seed is really good at injecting their music making a lot of scenes epic. This one's ending, "Life Goes On" ending, Freedom's first flight with Meteor, "Honoo no Tobira" with Akatsuki and more! I never went to any concert but if there's a Gundam Seed concert in where I'm from, just take all my money!

I really don't get why are there anyone not like this Gundam. It's the best series of Gundam on my opinion. It has magnificent battle moment, it has romance, it has friendship conflict. It's like watching Naruto with Robots. Moreover I don't think there are any other Iconic Ship Like Arcangel.
I can agree this series will always be my favourite series in the gundam series. I’m still disappointed that they redubed the English version from Canadian voice actors to American actors.

It's .. not the best. But it's really solid. Also the archangel is literally a a redesign of white base from the og Gundam from 79. Actually it's a staple in the u.c. Gundam series for the earth side to have a ship that looks like the white base. This is Gundam seed's take on that. Actually Gundam seed in itself is pretty much a retelling of the original mobile suit Gundam. That's why alot of older fans didn't like it. Aside from the fact that it gets extremely melodramatic(which I'm fine with). I think seed pulls a lot from uc. But it doesn't quite nail it. I think as time as pressed on this, Gundam seed has stood be one of the better AU Gundam series. I put it up there next to turn A Gundam and G Gundam as the best of the AU series. And of course nowawdays with iron blooded orphans and now witch from mercury we have some really solid new editions. But if you were to ask me does seed compare to some of even the newer uc properties like unicorn, the adaptation of the origin, thunderbolt or even Hathaway. I'm gonna look at you side ways.

I'm still shocked that Orb did not immediately demand an explanation from Zaft, or declare war on Zaft, for what happened at Heliopolis. You do not drive armoured vehicles into someone else's land without permission and then claim that nothing happened >.>
I guess the whole "secret weapons programme with the Alliance" looks pretty bad for Orb too, so the two countries didnt want to escalate the issue.

The directing in this episode reminds me why I love it so much. This is fantastic! It's a solid nod to Zeta Gundam, and looking back it also reminds me of Eva in a way. Great stuff.! I hope I can get through it all before it's gone.

Rusty was supposed to be Strike's pilot. And ZAFT would've won the war if Rusty were able to steal Strike here, since Kira wouldve died. But Hamana stopped that from happening.

not gonna lie seed is one of my favorite gundam series and im excited to see the movie
You know, I never noticed but the GINN got some really powerful thrusters. It went from the pod to the ground without needing parachutes or extra thrusters and propellant tanks to help slow the descent, like alot of other mobile suits like the ground Gundam or even the Mk2. Hell the Ginns, from the looks of it, was freefalling until its relatively close to the gruond before they even started to use the thrusters to slow down.
Let’s rewatch this for the nth time coz just finished the movie😍😍Can’t find the original version though 🥺🥺 i love the selection of songs in the old version..😅😅
