In Arkansas, was an LTC Pharmacist making $54/hr, roughly $112k. Amount I was able to save after bills/paying loans was about $2k a month. Now in San Diego, CA. Making $79/hr doing the same thing, almost identical position as before. Saving about $3k/mo so the cost of living increase was greatly offset by the increase in salary. Also the 10 rated school my children go to is much higher quality than the "10" rated school they went to in Arkansas.
A friend of mine was offered 100k from Walgreens (salaried, not hourly) which is roughly bout $50/hr for 32 hours/week full time. When I do the math, it comes out to be bout $60/hr. Why is there a discrepancy in the hourly rate? Please someone should help me understand.
they actually do , most hospital pharms start off at $80-90k a year as where a full time one in retail starts between $115-120k. But this may also depend on state too🤷🏼♀️
one thing this pandemic has taught hopefully everyone is that job stability > income.....I've heard retail and msl jobs have instability and some hospital jobs however no govt or state jobs have seen a backlash, can you elaborate? or do a video on pharmacy job stability?
I don't see how the pharmacist salary goes up with all these new schools that opened in the last 2-3 years. As they graduate their inaugural class, the saturation will only get worse. The drop in salary started when new schools opened. In CA, we have UCI who is opening next year (I believe) and AUHS that opened in the last 2 years. It's getting bad.
$54 an hour is not bad. Maybe, you can start another side hustle, that way you'll have more than one income source. Wish you the best of luck man, take care 💙

If corporate is going to continue decreasing pharmacist salaries with the horrible work conditions, pharmacists should be doing national walk outs or boycotts. Too bad they pharmacist association doesn’t have a backbone to stand up for its profession so it’s on pharmacists to unionize nationally and picket retail pharmacies.
That is an absurd statement. Our communities need pharmacists, and your industry is more than fairly compensated. A boycott would be catastrophic for those who rely on their medication. Greed.

If you aren't willing to work for what they are offering, they will pass you by. There are tons of pill counters and machines to replace you. New grads are willing to work for $30-40/hr.
I'm a hospital pharmacist in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Getting $60/hr. I managed a retail pharmacy for little bit and topped off at $165K. Your numbers seem pretty accurate. Cleveland has a low cost of living, but unfortunately we have to pay income tax, and being a pharmacist puts me in a high bracket. Thanks for your content!
@@dogeata6692 - go to PA school instead of Pharmacy. The demand for providers is increasing, demand for pharmacists is decreasing due to supply. You will have more job independence and flexibility with a Physicians Assistant degree. Pay is similar

I told to big pharmacy corporate managers and their goal is to lower the wage to around $20-25 per hour for new graduates

Everyone is earning more every year. With more experience, comes a higher salary. The catch is that it is going up very slightly every year.

San Diego (expensive to live in) is giving $50/hr for new grads...horrible. No way loans get paid off. The pay will also decrease next year.

I am currently working at Publix retail pharmacy and I got paid hourly 63dollors. I never heard about 40 dollars in Georgia.
