So Mickey Mouse battles a mountain sized humanly proportioned Satan figure in 1940 and it's fine, but in 2008 a rubbery furry boy gets more rubbery and furry and it's the worst case of clashing tone in the history of cartoons?
thanks a lot for having me on mate, it really was a pleasure to talk about what unleashed means to me! boss video btw, you did a top job on it, keep it up as you always do man!
I think the best part of unleashed is the soundtrack and the Day stages being fun and just the soundtrack sounding Beautiful and just something to chill out too ( Best ones are night time stages especially Night Chunan)
Dimps didn't actually make the Wii and PS2 versions of Sonic Unleashed, the only person from Dimps was one guy who I believe was a level designer for Rush, who did the level design for the Daytime stages, but that was just one person and everything else _was_ handled by Sonic Team.
The day stages in Sonic Unleashed to me were always messily designed, frustrating, trial and error gauntlets with the optional acts (especially Rooftop Run Act 2, Savanna Citadel Act 2 and Windmill Isle Act 3) sacrificing the little enjoyment i got from the stages and replacing it with brutally difficult level design and raising the trial and error so high i refuse to believe these stages (especially Windmill Isle Act 3) were ever play tester. I haven't played the DLC stages yet but as soon as I do I will tell you all about how good/bad those day stages are.
This is my favorite game of all time too. It needs to be ported like, right now. It's a far cry from '06. In fact, it's probably because of '06 that they even made Unleashed as good as it is. And it's so good. And the SD versions are good too. I actually played that before the HD version. That intro though... I kinda wish it was an actual level lol. I don't really have an issue with the Werehog either. The gameplay can be fun if you know how to have fun with him. The Rush gameplay was translated very well to 3D. I know the homing attack and boost thing is bad, if they actually port this game, they need to fix that. I never minded the medal collecting all that much. And the Werehog isn't all that bad. Yeah I get that it's very different from the day levels, but I really don't mind that. If you know how to have fun with him, then you know. The levels just need to be shorter. Sonic Team, if you port this game, please. The Boost gameplay is Sonic's best gameplay style. The game's story is very good too. This game is way more fleshed out than Forces. The graphics actually are the best in the series, most high-res Sonic model and all. There will be no other game like Unleashed.
You my good sir have earned my subscription. This is my favorite game of all time and I’m so glad that people are starting to realize how fucking amazing this game really is. Here’s hoping 2021 they’ll bring back a game of this quality either with the boost or adventure gameplay tbh i don’t care which one they do bc i love both but i just want a polished game with the grand adventure feeling and story of this game. Great video!!!
Lemon Yeah man of course! This is a great video and I think it deserves more views. I’ve always been the biggest fan of this game and I’m happy so many are starting to as well, keep up the great content like this I’m looking forward to seeing your channel grow! I love talking some Sonic with people considering I don’t have many friends that like Sonic and I love when channels take their time to respond to my comments so thank you, and here’s hoping for a great game in 2021!
How does this video just have 1,800 views this is greatly edited and told and the way you explained your points was amazing!!! Also I just subbed man can't wait for more videos from you now time to watch the rest of your videos!!
@@_lemon52 Oh yeah man no problem and now I’m really excited to see this video and my favorite video from your channel is the Sonic 06 video it’s just I can’t explain it but it’s by far your best video in my opinion!!! And now time to wait for your Sonic And The Black Knight video!!! And you’re so to close 1K subscribers!!
40:45 ooooh, man, how I wish Sonic Team had at least developed the possibility of switching off the Wherehog's battle theme, so we could listen to the amazing OST (love the night stages renditions) without any interruption. Don't get me wrong, the battle theme is also cool, but it gets repetitive very fast. If SEGA re-released this game to current gens with those 3 simple additions: 1) homing attack in the same button as the jump button, 2) option to disable battle theme and 3) stable framerate; well, THEN this game would be almost perfect!! Great video, man! I love this game, it is very underrated.
21:53 I disagree here. I'm gonna link a video about why Celeste is so popular with speedrunners. While it never references Sonic, it's clear that the principle of speed increasing with skill applies to Sonic too. In the classics you can interact with the terrain in tricky and specific ways to go as fast as possible. In Mario 64 you can repeatedly dive and tap jump to speed up. Celeste has its unique dash jump. All these things require tricky timing to master, and that's why they're so engaging. That's all you. Sonic Unleashed (this version) has more or less a set speed you can hardly fall below or aspire beyond. It's like following a monotonous list of instructions. Boost here. Slide here. Homing attack here. You're being pulled along airport security, not blasting away with the freedom the gameplay looks like it grants. It's not very Sonic, it's Geometry Dash starring a bar of soap. QTE's are just taking the piss at that point. So yeah, I'd agree with the concerns of boost to win, if not exactly those words. Anyway heres that vid th-cam.com/video/-lTI7Io0m6Y/w-d-xo.html
I would incline to disagree. Sonic Unleashed's formula while spotty in places because it's new(was Sonic 1 and Sonic Adventure), provides a classical Sonic experience. It's an incredibly fast-paced but also a challenging game where you have to maintain his speed to his fullest, while making split-second decisions on which routes to take.. Sonic 2 I can definitely agree where it hit a peak in terrain design but it's all about the player and how much work he puts into the game in order to use Sonic's abilities to it's full extent. Sonic Unleashed players(many of them) tend to use glitches rather than show Sonic's physics and skills which actually can carry lots of momentum compared to his past 3D floaty games. Geometry Dash is honestly being dishonest to use in an argument against SU since this game actually is in 3D and provides a lot more routes, content and different ways to navigate the stages. As Sonic Unleashed becomes more popular, the meta will develop just like the classics did. EDIT: This game allows you to play around with the terrain and Sonic's physics too. It's more so stage dependant but check out Basic Speed runs of the game.
I have no huge hopes, but i really want to love another official Sonic game like i love Unleashed. Also Sonic Time Twisted is a Sonic fangame that shouldn't be forgotten.
I might say something a bit off topic, but please listen anyway. From my perspective, Sonic Unleashed has a lot in common with Venom from 2018. Both of them are unfairly panned by critics and have their individual monster-ego for their main characters. So in my opinion, both Sonic Unleashed AND venom are great mixed bags that stand out better than a certain polluted Spider-Man movie from 2014. Question: DO you replay Unleashed's story? If so, how do you do it when you can only watch scenes on Pickle's TV?
@@_lemon52 I actually have a way to replay the story and I'll tell you what it is. So I'm gonna try playing the game on my PS3 using a different profile than my usual one. That way, I won't lose anything. Then when I'm at least halfway through the story, I'll go back to my regular profile and play the game from there. This way, you can replay the story without having to collect medals and bother with watching cutscenes in the lab, plus have all your upgrades on hand! I get that the medals might not be a problem for you, but still. PS: This may be controversial, but I like Roger Craig Smith as Sonic more than Jason or Ryan.

this is a good video, although the audio balancing, especially when it's just the music could use some work since it's sometimes ear blaring.

18:18 Well I mean, in pixel form, yeah he's pretty fast.
wonder when we will get a good 3D sonic game after forces
Last sonic game in general with original levels and non rehashed ideas was sonic colors in 2010 which was 10 years ago
Christian whitehead said that they want to make a 3D sonic game next, so we are guaranteed a good 3D sonic game next
One day I will be part of Sega and force them to fully remake every mainline game before 2010
This guy deserves an award

Always felt like medals add more depth to the werehog levels, I fail to see how collecting them is annoying
Love dis channel.
Thank you for being so kind God help me and these to better understand u God
We Will Never Get Another Sonic Game Like Sonic Adventure...but hey, it's worth dreaming about.
Probably a good thing considering the werehog part of the game.
Unless fans make it
