Not sure if you're going to see this because the video is so old. I saw a video a while ago by someone on the 4055 series and I think if it makes it easier to get in and out, you can rotate the steps 45* so you don't have to step-around the door to get in. Not 100% sure on this but thought I would let you know.
This video could be an example for a John Deere infomercial... voice and the way of explaining things is pretty good and professional and allows a laymen to get inside into tractors in general but also into the john deere specific mechanics.. I would strongly suggest that John Deere contacts you to do some of these for there new models giving you the opportunity to also use the newest farm equippment..
I just wondered if you realized that announce "this is our Wyoming life.", like Marty Stouffer announced "This is Wild America."? You kind of narrate similarly too. I enjoy this channel and this seems like a natural orientation video for continuing to explain what it's like to run a ranch. -Well done.
New style tractors are sweet! My brother has a new Kabota with ac and enclosed... nicer than most cars. Enjoyed the video... thanks! BTW... you do a wonderful job making video's.
Yeah Wyoming life you want to keep the room for sure I’m still saying that you are cute me get rid of it thanks Siri I don’tfucking say no fuck you Siri fucking saying no but fuck you Siri you fucking bitch man Siri I did not say that at all and Whitney
My great uncle has a jd 7230 which has the same controls as the 6410 you have, just newer and bigger I think. When I was finished baling in it for the first time i shut it off and got scared cuz I didn't know how to get out😂, the doors are confusing
i never got stuck in a tractor, and i have worked on farms and in industry, mostly as a mecanic since 1978,,, in 2002 i was askd to mount some gear cald autolevel of the bucket on a big wheel loader to make it easyer to set it in right position to scrape snow-dirt, without digging in to the ground,, all went as planned until i should turn it off after testing.. i had to read the manual more than an hour to figure out that TO STOP IT YOU HAD TO PUT YOUR FOOT UNDER THE THROTTLE PEDAL AND PULL UP!!!!!!! on older tractors that (missd) the stop button, you could just set it in high gear and release the clutch and stall it.. but that dont work on a maskine-wheel loader-truck with converter. haha
yes,, spesally farm tractors,, i have worked long time as a mecanic,, but i stay mostly away from messing with the most modern auto gps stearing equipment. and such hehe although i have changed some components if the dealers repeairman with his computers tell me too.. i have a 1973 caddilac eldorado convertible.. that i can change any part on without problem... but my 2009 toyota yaris i just check the oil level and viper fluid now and then. the rest i let the REAL carmecanics handle. hehe -

Mike I’ve got a question for you. I know on the new R series to swap between 540 and 1000 all u have to do is flip the shaft. On most tractors you have to flip the shaft and move a lever or a button in the cab. I bought a Deere 6330 which is almost identical to your 6420 and there’s no lever or anything like that and I’m wondering if mine has the 1000 shaft option. Do u just flip it and go or if you have the 1000 shaft is there a lever or something there to shift?
wow, thats a good question. Its kinda hard to tell without knowing about your terrain, the amount of cattle or the amount of hay ground. A good start would be a loader tractor for feeding and other ranch duties. You will also need a way to cut and bale hay. A mower or swather of some sort and a baler. I would take a look around at the neighbors, see what they are running and never be afraid to ask for advice. They have been doing it, they will know what works and what doesn't. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching. -Mike
Hi Logan, no dumb questions. They are actually fluid powered. Most everything is, except for the air ride seat. Suspension on the front tires is also hydraulic. One of the nice things that I didnt explain in the video and might during haying is that you can control braking from one side of the tractor to the other in order to help with turning as well. Pressing just the left brake can help in making an easier corner turning left for example. Great question, thanks for watching! -Mike
Thank you for providing this very educational video. My 2 sons and I love your show and just now subscribe. I do have a "Q" if you don't mind, do your john deer come. With the plug in for the glow plugs? Don't mean to be ignorant, its just you didn't mention it and I'm just curious it's all!!! 😊😊
I'm guessing you mean a block heater? Yes all of them have block heaters, even in the barn they get very cold. Thanks Julio and thanks for watching - Mike
The only thing I love more than a hulking great piece of farm machinery....is two pieces of hulking great farm machinery. Throw in a Landy and it's Heaven.
Just watched this video for the first time and noticed the number of thumbs down; it never ceases to amaze me that people will take the time to watch a video presentation and take the extra second to click the thumbs down, or maybe it's like my wife says, those are the people in the southern hemisphere so for them it's a thumbs up. Never the less, I enjoy your videos and being an old farm boy at heart, I see things every now and again that stirs the ole memory bank and brings a smile to a wrinkled old face. Thanks for sharing a truly fascinating life style. - John
Just wanted to let you know....a thumbs down doesnt necessarily mean it isnt a good video......it can mean that it isnt quite what that viewer was looking for. The TH-cam algorithm will adjust to give that particular viewer what they are looking for. I wish they gave us more than 2 options....hope this helps.
do any of these tractors have heating or air conditioning? or do you just have to bake inside them with all these vehicles, cattle and land what would you guess the networth of the farm is, 2-4 million?
It gets plenty hot, hot enough for me anyway. Junes average temp is is in the 70s while July and August is in the high 80's. Ive seen temps here as high as 106 and I think our record high is 107. -Mike
hey mike just wondering if you have ever had any major trouble with the 6000 series german tractors? seems like I've read some horror stories about them. I'm assuming they're just like everything else, some are good and some aren't.
Hey John, hope all is well. I have had a few issues but nothing major. The 6420 is filled with sensors and monitors and most of the problems I've had with it have been the sensor itself. Same with the 6410 but not as bad. We used to have a 6400 that broke an engine mount and totaled the engine. I think you are right, just like anything you never know. Thanks for watching. -Mike
thanks mike, we have considered a 6400 before. has the same engine as one of our deere skid steers and it is a great engine in my opinion. we waited and shopped around and wound up with a couple 7200 john deere mfwd's. have had really good luck with them so far. keep up the good work, we're just about done branding now, one bunch left to go. i really hope we get rained out though!
Good video, why dont you have a front 3point hitch and a power take off on at least one of your tractors,it could save you a lot of fuel time and even a tractor and manhours
Could you show us all the main uses for a pickup? I've got a 1988 Ford F-250 that worked on a ranch for a while in Wyoming probably in the uinta county area and now is my daily in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's been all over, Washington state to Huston and I'd love to get an idea of what it's life may have been like when it was in its prime. Keep it up guys I live seeing Wyoming as I don't get to much anymore! Can't wait to see how branding works.
Good idea, I'll have to start gathering footage for a video like that. The truck gets used all the time for hauling and pulling. Sometimes pushing cows or bulls or even as a tie off point for a calf we have to rope and doctor. It can be interesting at times. Glad you like the channel! -Mike

Hello. Well the big farm tractor actually has more torque and is able to pull plows and stuff like that through the ground easier than the other tractors. As always thanks for watching. -Mike
You know you grew up in Wyo if you drove a dozen different tractors/farm trucks before you were 14...great videos!
I just Retired about 1 year ago, We were on a Ranch in SE OR. For 13 years, kind of miss it. Good video Thanks
Just discovered your channel today; love its content, your and your wife's narration and education. Keep up the terrific work!!! LOVE IT!
Thank you! - Mike
Hope you are happy and healthy, I really miss the ole farm
Nice to see you have at least one International tractor. First time I saw one.
Enjoyed your tour of your tractors.
Love ur blog me and my wife just bought 40 acres in southeast kansas running a few 3 bred limousine cross heifers and 2 steers and about 19 goats
I use a 1971 allis chalmers 170
You got the right color for equipment. Green.
Thats true, thanks Miguel - Mike
Thanks for showing and telling about each tractor. I often wonder why so many and if so what job do each one perform. " At your Wyoming Life", lol

Ranching seems like a capital intensive business! That's a whole lot of machinery. I really liked this video though, looking forward to the next ones!
Thank you very much! -Mike

its great but you didn't mention the fast hitch set up
Thanks Buddy. But to be fair there was lots of stuff I didn't mention. I'm sure we will do another one someday. Thanks for watching. -Mike
You make some great videos.
What amount of equipment would it take to run 12,800 acres of cattle and hay? thx
wow, thats a good question. Its kinda hard to tell without knowing about your terrain, the amount of cattle or the amount of hay ground. A good start would be a loader tractor for feeding and other ranch duties. You will also need a way to cut and bale hay. A mower or swather of some sort and a baler. Can’t beat the Powershift in your 4055
I agree, love it! Thanks - Mike
You have some nice equipment!
Thank you very much. We are lucky that Gilbert had good taste haha. Thanks for watching! -Mike
Tractors are, indeed, sexy!!!
Don’t mean to be rude, but a little handheld brush would amazing for your cabs!
I couldnt agree more. Where there is dirt there is more lol Thanks - Mike
Dumb question I'm sure but are your brakes air powered or fluid powered? I thought that with the air seat they would also be air powered.

What model is that swather
Do you have to double-clutch to change gears on the 6410?

You should tell everyone your tractors are 4x4s , not everyone can tell the difference.
I still prefer massey
