The air temp sensor is a tiny fan that’s draws air in through a small vent and “tastes” it when the air con is set to auto. It then knows what temp to set the cold air blowing out. Top job as always.

Absolutely love the mk2 RS. I had a 2008 ST years ago and it was one of the best cars I'd owned. Lovely to drive, the 5 pot sounds amazing, and they are easy and relatively cheap to tune. Would still own one today if i had the chance.

Dean the Fog lights are the same as used on a Renault Capture i believe, made by Valeo 👍🏻 much cheapness for a pair

Dean you posted it at the right time that noise was a wire hitting the fan in the Air temp sensor, as a mate of mine has pointed out as we where watching he said that the second he heard it,

I've never even owned a car! 42 years old and play gran turismo a lot. All my mechanicing is done on mountain bikes. Would love to get into cars but I guess it's all going electric so you're better off learning that now. Love watching Dean and other car youtubers working on their rigs.

Fog lights are from a renault capture which you can use. Look at the Evil GT page they are building a RS focus

BTW: This contraption with a little fan inside is probably for the internal temp and humidity sensor, required by the automatic AC driver. Renault cars have a similar one.

Evil GT are sorting out another mk2 Focus RS and I'm sure they mentioned the Fog lights being off a Renault Kajar or something like that so might be worth watching their video as it was something like £60 for the Renault one.

Ultimate Green is definitely the best colour for the mk2 RS. Was going to buy one in 2014, I went for a mk7 Golf R instead. Kind of wish I had went the Focus to be fair. Within a year there was loads of Golf Rs around where I lived.

That air temp sensor thing goes the the trim just above the pedals under steering will hope that helps
Head lamps can be fitted after the bumper. Makes it easier to remove the bumper with the headlamos out aswell.
That air temp sensor is for the Climate. Same as on many cars it looks like. It has a tiny fan for sampling the interior air. Generally it mounts on the dash in a fake switch with holes where it take the air sample from.
Must admit it does look nice in that green 👍

I love these cars. I had an ST2 2006 and 2013 ST3 300 BHP Mountune.
I had a golf Mk 6 and it went through 2 clock springs before getting rid of it - never seen anything like it before. I thought I'd share that when I saw Dean working on the clock spring 🙂

Those fog light surrounds were originally Mk2 RS specific but became standard for the MK3 onwards - but harder to find in gloss black.

Renault Kaptur spots are the same Dean. A hell of a lot cheaper than the ford items...
I'm back on my 3dr cosworth restoration. What's that black box, code search suggests 80s Toad alarm, you're coming out son. The loom is now about 50% if it's original horrible spiders web. Gota love aftermarket electronics 😅

The steering wheel wire is a "clock spring". Had to take my Mini's wheel off recently as part of a full dash removal (changing heater fan). Took a count of the turns rather than blocking it - prefer your idea
Those 5 pot Volvo Modular engines do sound rather nice.

Hi mate, I was watching the Evil GT boys build their RS and they were saying about the fog lights being cheap, I think he said like £45 per unit as a non genuine part but might be worth getting in contact with them to see if they can assist in anyway!

Have a look at evil gt last video the front gog lights are the same in a Renault capture £50 pair
The under trays are ST except for the extra bits on the front one. You have the middle one, but there are two more per side (if my memory serves me right). I’m sure someone has reproduced them as Ford don’t sell them separately and with the tray you need to be sitting down before they tell you the price. Good work though, once finished you’ll find out why they are now a cult car.
airbag modules on ford can be reset in the car but u need ford diag tool
