  • How to EASY fix, repair and pull out damaged dented speaker dust cap in HOME DIY. Most people who use speakers will eventually end up in a real pickle of a scenario where the speaker dust cap gets dented. Fear not, today we'll be going over on how you can easily avert this crisis. It can probably be fixed by one of the three methods we'll be covering in this video. You can replicate these methods depending on what tools you have on standby. A needle or a syrringe, gorilla or ducttape or basically anything thats sticky enough or just a regular vaccuum cleaner, preferably one that has a removable tip. Though, like mentioned before, we recommend you use a speaker grill instead of applying these techniques.

OMG. My little girl pushed in the dust cap on one of my Avantone Mixcubes. Your vacuum cleaner trick pulled it back to normal and you can barely tell it ever happened. It's about 99% back to what it was visually, and in terms of sound -- it's perfect. Thank you for this video. I was so depressed when it happened because I can't really afford to replace it right now.

I have a Pioneer HPM 100 woofer coming to replace my broken one. Problem: the replacement woofers dust cap is a bit dented but is likely recoverable. I will try thin strips of tape and micro pressure to pull as many dimples out as I can. I don't care if it's NOT Absolutely perfect. I want it to be pretty at a glance. If someone stares at the dust cover though the cover mesh I don't care that they see my dimpled speaker cap. I have a pair of clear Lucite Promo Pioneer HPM-100 speakers in my living room with near perfect dust domes. I wont try the pin method unless my brother can find super thin surgical needles or pins. I was happy to hear you say a dented speaker dust cover does not affect sound quality.

With the puncture and pull method. Push in an L shaped wire. Work around the dent. No need to have multiple holes. Fill the legacy hole as shown. 🤓

I tried the vacuum cleaner trick and it wouldn't work. I thought that maybe if I got the dust cap wet, it might help. I got it damp with a sponge and tried the vacuum again. It popped right out!

Personally I take the speaker out and blow air hard through the air hole at the back. this method works for even dust caps that are very stiff

    • @PrinciplesMatter

Interesting idea. Using air from a compressor? If so what pressure did you find sufficient to the task?

Nice. Would this work for aluminium cones? Let's say warm them up with a heat gun and then blow air into the air vent port.

I like painter's tape as it has no chance of leaving a residue behind.
I need to wire them with a 9v pig fence line to keep little fingers away. 🤔😅

I just tried method 2.5 and it worked for me.
What is 2.5? I put multiple (5-6) layers of thin cut stripes of double sided tape, somewhat randomly, on the dust cap and poked with a needle into/between the layers of sticky tape and managed pull it out, without damaging anything. Worked better than expected.
    Thanks for the tipps.

If the speakers have their fronts on that does the best job at preventing the drivers from being damaged in the first place.
If they do get dented you won't even notice if the fronts are on so I would personally leave it.
