    If there's any Gain fans (the green bottles not the other Gain trash) then try the Green bottle of LA's Totally Awesome also. It smells literally identical to the Original Gain brand and cleans just as well as it does. I switched and pretty much my whole family moved to it also. I was shocked at how fresh the green bottle smells. Tallied it up the other day, if I buy 15 of the 1.36L (45.98 Oz) bottles of Gain per year i'm paying roughly $120 CAD at 8 bucks a bottle. Since switching to LATA's 64oz bottles (1.89L) at $2.50 CAD per bottle i'm only paying $37.50 for 15 bottles a year. Saving me just over 82 bucks.
    I've found it works well too cleaning car upholstery and carpets, and leaves the car and carpets smelling fresh.

    I use both Tide and Dollar Tree detergent, but I treat stains on clothing before washing. Dollar Tree soap gets clothes clean, but there's not really a scent like Tide. You can add fabric softener, but scent doesn't bother me long as my stuff is clean

    Oxy Cleaners and the various Oxy generics are just powdered Hydrogen Peroxide. The active ingredients of color safe oxygen bleach is sodium percarbonate, which becomes hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate when added to water.
    Bleach aka Clorox which uses sodium hypochlorite as its active ingredient and is in the class of chlorine bleach. It is derived from table salt, sodium chloride, and after manufacturing it is converted to sodium hypochlorite, there is no free chlorine in any bottle of liquid bleach.
    So any brand of powder that says Oxygen base cleaner is just sodium percarbonate, whether its name brand or dollar store generic.
    And any jug of liquid Bleach is just sodium hypochlorite it doesn't matter what brand it's the same chemical in the bottles.
    You might think Clorox works better than store brand but you are imagining it because it's the same exact chemical and strength mixture.

    • @ItsMaarrr
      @ItsMaarrr  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I've tried both Clorox and generic brand bleach and they both work the same to me! I always say why pay more?

    • @UrbanCheese709
      @UrbanCheese709 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      houptee you couldn't be more wrong about the bleach. The off-brand stuff often is a much lower concentration. Even name brand stuff is sold at different strengths these days. Pool shocker or something similar can be the best bang for your buck. Read the labels!

What I do is I add on mine essential oils I buy. 3 bottles of Dollar Tree laundry wash And on each one I put different essential oils. one smell like lavender The other smell like orange. I use $1 LA's liquid detergent regularly on everything. I also buy the $1 can of LA's powder oxygen cleaner. They have the regular blue can or orange versions. You throw a scoop of that in too with your laundry and you will get the same results as any expensive name brand detergents out there. The reason is the chemical in detergents that cleans is called surfactants and there are only a few types that all brands of detergents use in the mixture.

    I use the LA awesome laundry detergent in the orange bottle. To me, it basically has no smell and it is clear, no dyes in it. I've never been able to see a difference between laundry detergents, to me they all work the same. I totally do not understand people liking the smell of Tide, Gain, etc. To me, they smell overpowering, like gross perfume. As long as your clothes are clean, they will smell fine.

    I like this video Marissa. Funny my wife is a Tide person. That is her favorite Laundry Detergent. Myself I have brought home Awesome Laundry detergent from the dollar store for quite a few years now. Like you I was too curious to see for myself what the difference was. I have no problem using it on my work clothes being I don't notice any difference other then the smell afterwards. The Tide makes your cloths smell fresher. The Awesome Brand to me cleans as well but doesn't have a strong perfume smell and for a dollar verses what Tide cost us I will continue using it on my dirty clothes when I do the wash. My wife refuses to use it and complains to me about me buying it. Marissa I give you a lot of credit for comparing them. Use the Tide where you feel you many want to use it and keep some of the Awesome Detergent on hand to use also. You can save yourself some good money there. I own a lot of vehicles. I use old towels to dry them. When they need to be washed I use Awesome Laundry detergent and Awesome Fabric Softener another good product I feel and they come out nice and clean and soft. To tell everyone the truth here. I can't tell the difference between the name brand fabric softener my wife uses or the Awesome Fabric Softener. They even smell similar.

    First of all you are absolutely correct when you say that the cheaper detergents will fade your clothes but what's worse is that they will also eat away at the fibers causing that fuzzing look. Also even though I suspect that those are the DT knock-offs of the ShamWow ( which I love and affectionately referred to them as sham woahs) shammies don't hold stains and odors the same as regular clothes. A better test would be to use t-shirt fabric or terry cloth. I use the Tandil brand from Aldi ( which is made by P&G and is almost identically formulated to tide). One of the best ways I have found getting really clean and stain free clothes is by adding two small scoops of OxiClean over or what I use which is the LA awesome Dollar Tree Oxi action in addition to my detergent. If at all possible you should allow the clothes to soak only for an hour Gregory creepy or overnight for best results. I was a single dad with a son who his name is was a giant dirt and Funk magnet. We also wear a lot of white socks and white t-shirts and even after years of staining and washing many are still bright white. I have found that there are very few stains excluding things like paint or ink that can't be eliminated by the overnight soak technique. Works great for sneakers as well

    Appreciate the video, but...Next time use a white towel. Don't mix the stains all together, leave them separate. Consider a smudge of axle grease or used motor oil or something as an additional stain. Maybe some coffee. Mash up some grass with water. Then let the stains dry out in the sun for a real test. With the fresh "stains" that you used plain water may have done just as good a job, so use just water as a control next time.

      @@jessie9653 Recently, I've red many scientific articles regarding household laundry hygiene and the corresponding factors like water temp, type of detergent, wash duration, etc. Based on my findings, using 1/2 of recommended dose of detergent plus elongating wash cycle most likely leads to really satisfying results in lower temperatures. This would boosted specially when using detergents containing active oxygen bleach!

    I’ve tried the scented LA’s Awesome before & liked it! The color of the bottles are the different scents. I used the reddish bottle. Another great detergent for stains is Persil! It smells fresh & clean & it gets the grass & dirt stains out of my son’s white baseball pants! I use Persil Original with Downy’s Botanical Mist fabric softener. Downy’s Amber Blossom scent is a good fabric softener scent too with the Persil. Btw, what are your thoughts on the Ecos detergent? Does it clean well?

      After being a Tide user for several years I have recently become a Persil convert. When I visited the UK I was exposed to the brand when I inquired how my host family kept the laundry so bright and clean. Persil is new in the US but has been around since 1907. It is the best laundry detergent I have ever used but I will try LA's Totally Awesome Laundry Detergent because if it cleans as well as in this video that would save me a lot of money over Persil for light laundry cleaning.

      99% of "Liquid Detergents" is based on 3 Ingredients - Other than that, it's mostly "Proprietary" Perfume/Fragrance + Color + Additives. So basically LA's Awesome Laundry Detergent have the same 3 Ingredients, like most brands.

    Idk about any of you but I’m staying far away from Dollar Tree detergents, lmao! Simply because of the smells! I saw a review on one of the detergents and the reviewer raved about how wonderful it smelled.
    So when I finally smelled it in the store. I got an overwhelming aroma of chemicals and stale hobo piss. The other scents either smelled exactly like that detergent or like nothing at all.
    I’ve also read people having problems with these specific detergents leaving clothes dirtier than when they were put in the washer. That right there should indicate the quality of the products.
    Also. Don’t trust a detergent that doesn’t come with a pour spout inside the bottle. That should be another clear indicator on the quality of that product.
    Not gonna risk putting something on my clothes that smells like Ol’ Raggedy Jimbo couldn’t handle his whiskey.

    • @ScammerStudio
      @ScammerStudio 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Myers oh, it comes with a scent. Don’t worry about that. But the scent it comes with resembles what would happen if you poured old cat piss inside some cheap floor cleaner.
      So idk about you, but I’m not using one on my clothes if it smells like that.
