- You found Cave Dwellers. You know you can watch every full episode of MST3k at www.club-mst3k.com right?
It is the ancient past or perhaps the medieval era or maybe 17th century Bulgaria or 19th century Japan. Ator is a legendary swordsman / body builder / scholar / scientist / healer / warrior whose trademarks include a well-developed fat-free physique, little pants, a resplendent mane of freshly-shampooed locks complete with adorable Samurai top-knot, leather accessories, a pointy little visor and the ability to fight - poorly - with two swords at once. (from wikia)
“Use the handrails. I invented them for a reason.” Still my favorite line.
I love how Ator drinks from a glass given to him by a guy who hates him, and then is shocked to find it's drugged.
i lickked it
This is my favorite episode for irrational reasons. So comforting and still hilarious after all these years.
1:02:44 - "This is CNN. Luke."
@@GlitchanBlack not mine but earth vs the spider fugitive alien are the funniest episodes to me😊
Same, brother.
"Ouch! I landed on my 8-sided dice!"
More relevant now, than ever.
The villain with the bangs and a mustache looks like he could be Manos's brother.
One of Frank's funniest moments is how he comes back so coolly from the robot match.
(after cannibalizing a human heart)
"I want a Barny Clarke Bar!"
Clark Bar was a candy. Barny Clarke was the first patient implanted with an artificial heart prosthetic.
Jean-Paul Audette
Whoa! I never got that. Thanks!
One of those lines that just sounded funny, and you assumed it had to do with something or other...
“They’re invisible!”
“Oh man. I don’t believe it, they were too cheap to hire villains!”
hey why dont you pick on your own appassady

*"Oh Come ON!"*
An Mst3k a day keeps the gloom away.
RocketAdrenaline4220 but watching more than one a day never hurt nobody. 😂
Amen fellow misties, amen.
The world is so full of deep hurting that MST3K is all I can watch these days. The bots keep me sane.
I love how Thong waits until the half dozen innocent people are dead before trying to save anyone.
his thong is giving him a ca&m#ltoe
This was the first episode of MST I ever saw. Fell instantly in love with the show.
This is CNN. Luke.
Ator's waiting until almost everyone is eaten by snakes... What a hero!
"We secretly switched Ator's coffee..." I love when they reference that!
"How much Keefe is in this movie, anyway?"
"Miles O'Keefe!"
Dumb joke but still my favorite of the whole thing. ^_^
Seriously, that one's been a running gag w/ a friend and I for decades. Thanks in part to ST: tNG and DS9. How much Brien?
I love the 'subtle' stoner jokes that I missed as a kid :D
@@jean-paulaudette9246 Miles O'Brien!
Miles O'Keefe was a big fan of this episode too, he said the movies were a surreal experience
Mine too. I don't know why such a silly joke makes me laugh so hard.
I have rewatched the hang-glider scene at least a dozen times. Tom Servo: “This is a LITTLE ridiculous.” The funniest thing I’ve ever heard said.
That Opening Titles sketch is one of the funniest things in the history of this show 😂
New season of MST3K will cover _Ator: The Fighting Eagle_ which means we'll finally see the entire movie shown in the flashback!
Episode 12 of Season 12. As described at 12:12
I KNEW that guy in the thumbnail looked like him before watching this!!
New mst3k sucks
Ator is the Wish version of Conan.
This is the part of the film we like to call: "She HAD to ask."
This movie seems like a extremely complicated D&D campaign.
It was and the DM tried killing off the party 6 times only to tpk the plot.
Ah, but not as "complicated" as 'Hawk the Slayer' 😁
The bad guy even looks like Yamun Khahan.
"why is she limping"
"she has an arrow in her chest"
"oh yeah... huh"
lol my favorite riff on this ep.
I liked "She's in LOVE!"
@@jean-paulaudette9246 "You idiot, we don't even have a doe license."
Apparently Lisa Foster became a digital artist - she was lead producer in the digital dept for The Two Towers video game in 2002.
This guy never thought that Lisa foster might be a common name lol
@@cm9241 I actually looked it up on IMDB
@@samuelstephens6163 She also was a senior producer for the new modern warfare 2.
''Why is she limping?'' '''cause she has an arrow in her chest'' lmao
“Oh……huhh?”😂
I love how the show ended, Mike Nelson. Tom Servo and Crow all sitting on the couch in his apartment and they start watching a shitty movie. Just awesome
"This is the part of the movie we like to call, 'She had to ask.' "
Starting off season 3 strong with "Cave Dwellers." This was the first MST3K episode I ever saw and watching after watching it again, I am relieved to find that it's just as hilarious as the first time.
somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd season the show really started to improve. some of my first episodes were The Revenge of the Creature (Mike era) and Space Travelers (Joel era)
This was also the first episode to air on Comedy Central.
53:37 “Oh he’s a Calvinist!”
They truly have riffs for everyone to get. I enjoyed that one. #reformedbaptist
The Folger's Crystals joke never gets old for me.
1:16:49 I love that when Trace starts doing Madame's voice he keeps moving Crow's mouth for a while.
The bad guys are called Cave Dwellers while Ator himself lives in a cave..
Joel's delivery of "DO WHAT I DO" during the invention exchange is hilarious.
"INVISIBLE MONSTERS" (the studio accountants LOVED that concept!)
"Zor wants to possess your father's knowledge."
(Crow) "And your mother's wardrobe."
Their parody of the opening credits at 23:00 had me in tears
One of my favorite MST moments for sure!
The fake credits are so hilarious I constantly miss Joel and the Bots' sheananigans... :(
MST3K's Ator opening is everything.
The reenactment of the credits is awesome
Crow and Tom aimlessly floating, dying, returning
"It's the best show evah! It's brassy, sassy, it's a musical humdingah!"
I love how the cave floor is completely flat and has no obstacles.
I like how it takes Mila no time at all to get to Ator's place but the whole rest of the film to get back...
Oh, thank you ! I thought i was the only one to find that perfectly unsettling XD
Based on the progression of the scenes with her dad & Freddie Mercury, it looks like she got there in under twenty minutes. But even if you decide to roll with the movie, and believe that it did take her much longer than that, she gets there with the arrow still in her shoulder, not a drop of blood on her clothes, clean hair, not hungry... *keeps on with this list until the break of dawn*
C'm'on, movie : help me to help you !
They took the long way
I think your cape is FABULOUS!!!
Easily one of my favorite episodes, the sketches were brilliant, the riffs were completely on point. I can't imagine who wouldn't have given this thumbs up!!
"Drink it all... Sometimes the poison's on the bottom!"
Ator is the Wish version of Conan.
Perfect Haha!. 🎉
Ator’s backstory had me like 😮 until I saw him “behead” that “zombie”
I have a ton of nostalgia for this episode. This was the first episode I ever saw (the MST Hour version). Then I saw Pod People and I was hooked.
Tgr2k1 oh my gosh Pod People! My brother and I quote from that one and Manos the Hands of Fate all the time!
"It sticks! Wa wa waaa..." lol
My first was The Day the Earth Froze. I was hooked ever since. :)
Tgr2k1 this was episode was so funny👻
Pod people and cave dwells are two of the best, and if u watch carefully, u will notice that the opening credit scenes are not from the films. Matter of fact, they are from completely different films. Check it out again and get back to me so I can make sure I'm not crazy.
same here! This followed by Pod People. Circa 1994.
I just love how passionate Servo gets about Batman and graphic novels. He's such a geek, and therefore relatable for viewers of this show.
38:04
Servo: "So let's recap the action so far..."
Joel: "Eh, nothing really."
Servo: "Ahh you're right, let's move on now..."
The "Daddy there's a boy outside" part always cracks me up.
iam16bits
Me too. Tears, side aches. Every time. Oh man. So funny.
Me too still to this day!
it's making fun of a very sappy song called the men in my little girl's life
3:00 I love how Dr. Forrester shoves Frank away, and Frank just calmly sits there. X>]
I think that hang glider caught me more off guard than anything in any movie ever.
It's a little ridiculous.
Not the three wheeler tracks? I'm surprised they didn't have electric lighting!
I know this sounds weird but... When I first saw this episode, I was kinda expecting a dinosaur appearance.
That was "Yor the hunter of the future" WITH hangglider! :D
Henry Kissinger says merry Christmas you dirty rats
My first MST3K episode. “How much Keeffe is in this movie? Miles O’Keeffe!”
"Geez, Tolkien couldn't follow this plot."
"Many years ago,"
"Oh, not another flashback!" DX
Is there even a story? It feels like there's no progression of time. You could watch it backwards and it wouldn't change a thing.
The growling snakes get me every time I watch this episode.
"Oh no, they've jumped right into a Kurosawa film!"
"So it'll start making sense?"
"Mhm! Yup, Toshiro Mifune, right there."
Eeeeeeee! I love when MST3K references awesome things. :D
IM HUGE DIG ME!
"Destroying life is something man shouldn't take upon himself"
...Huh, I wish you'd told him that before he murdered a small country's worth of barbarians earlier in the picture
this is a very funny episode. I love it where Crow T Robot says not even Tolkien could follow this !
"Alright, ya crummie rats, Henry Kissinger says, 'Merry Christmas!'" This had me in bits the first time! Brilliant.
I think one reason why their recreation of the title sequence is so funny is that they had the music playing over the sounds they were making rather than replacing them. All the hollow, plastic sounds take it over the top.
Cave Dwellers was actually the first MST3K episode I saw and might actually be my favorite. My favorite part was probably the flashback scene with lines like; "this plot is harder to follow the tokken" and "objects in shield are larger than they appear" were all hilarious.
I miss MST3K so much.
This is my second favorite MST episode. Joel's at his finest
So apparently...Lisa Foster, the female lead, directed two cutscenes in Parasite Eve and in other games. Life is such a random random event.
"Borromel...the thorough but gentle laxative...."
SerialGothQueens I was reading this as they said it, my brain hurts!
Weird. I always thought the same thing whenever I heard "Boromir."
One of those riffs when I’m not sure why it makes sense, but it just hits hard on the funny bone.
i just...
thank you.
"cah-vay dwellers" has always been a favorite of mine, and this is perfect for a rainy day when i don't want to rummage through my dvds to find it.
:)
Fun fact, Miles O'Keefe loves this episode.
This movie is almost the reason he is Miles O'Keefe, measured in feet to sound longer.
Cah-veh Dwellers....
And the commercial sign where they recreate the intro; gets me every time. XD

Ah, to Love one, ye has yet to meet. Kevin Murphy is a wonderful, multi talented supreme being and just made my new favorite joke, about Canada, my home and naked land.
It was subtle, curt and timed perfectly.
I think you need to be Canadian, or Northern American, to,truly appreciate it. Or somewhere really cold.
To others, it may be one of hundreds. To us, it will be forever etched, into the land itself!
......I have just learned that etching is expensive. So I will resort to plan B.
Wait for the first Snowfall and write the entire joke into the freezing snow, using only my trusted staff...or rod.
Cheers and Beers, from Canada
The scariest part is that this was part 2 of a SERIES. It had TWO SEQUELS!
New Line Cinema presents, a Trilogy of classic fantasy movies: Cave Dwellers!
Why? Why?!!! WHY????
The rebooted MST3K *really* needs to do another Ator film.
+Marilyn Newman
The 70's were a big time for movies-- and a very messed-up time for pretty much everything else.
You got your wish. They did the first Ator film on the most recent Netflix season.
While we may disagree on who the best host (I like Joel best myself) I think we can all agree that Dr Forester and TV's Frank were the best villains. Also Kevin Murphy and Trace Beaulieu had the best voices for Tom and Crow.
Ahh this episode has the speciel honor of being the very first MST3K episode i ever saw as a kid
Ditto!
This one and Pod People were my first two. :)
Best discovery since toast in pants. (Werewolf)
*Sadface Mine was a Godzilla one. No joy for me.
MST3K is the best, Jerry! The BEST!!
If the John Saxon type guy lived today he would be a coffee barista.
*Sees Ator*
Oh God! MST3K has finally gone full circle!
Miles wasn't just a sport about it. After this episode first aired he contacted the producer of MST3k and requested a video copy of the episode.
I think this is one of the top 20 MST3Ks.
I especially love the little recreation of the beginning credits at :24
at 1:23:55 is not Mad Ludwig's castle. But does look like a recreation of Hohenschwangau but in white rather than yellow.
Mst3k is my asmr
"Ungh, I'm grinding the basil and adding some Romano cheese!"
Sandor is the glue that holds this movie together
BluePedal underrated character 😂
You can call him Sandy
That whole Ator back story was like being verbally waterboarded.
"How much Keefe is in this movie?"
"Miles O'Keefe!"
"What's Wrong?"
"I'm all out of blue stuff"
"Come on. I'll buy you a beer"
Thanks, Thong! I'll visit you in prison and bring you rice cakes with files in 'em.
Mark Griggs Somebody's definitely been four wheelin
Mark Griggs "just a few dozen more!"
"Why is she limping?"
"Because she has an arrow in her chest."
"Oh I can see-WHA?"
"Why don't you pick on someone your own opacity" 37:40
Well, Joel created it and both Mike and Joel agree that Joel was the better host. Joel's delivery is just gold. And I love his sort of fatherly relationship with the bots.
I liked the closing credits for their mock credits play went to "Mother, Jugs and Speed"
one of the best MST3K episodes ever!
"Dreezle drazzle, druzzle, drum, time for this one to come home!"
... did they just reference an obscure short from a 1960s cartoon? Holy crap.
kiraina25 yup I love Tooter Turtle
...oh so bob hope owns all of this?
@@cavalierfan1995 Yeah yeah, we're thinkin' about turning it into a nine-holer....
Let me get this straight: this whole movie was building up to a message... about not using nuclear weapons?
WHAT THE F-
Yup. The father of the bad Red Sonja ripoff character and friend to the Conan rip-off character apparently developed NUCLEAR FUSION in the middle of the freaking Dark Ages.
kiraina25 not to mention hang gliders
umg SPOILERS mang
Well there is an ancient city that shows evidence of a nuclear blast.....higher radiation, vitrified stones and pottery, and the skeletons of the people looked as if they were running for their lives from something terrible. Mohenjo Daro
It was the 80's. There were posters that said "How can you hug your children with nuclear arms?" and Sting was singing lyrics like "I hope the Russians love their children too". Everybody had a message back then. (...tbh I think "Red Skies" by the Fixx was the coolest)
"Is 'Charles in Charge' over?? Thanks for showing up!"
"Hef? We're all out of Evian!"
Why is she limping?
Because she has an arrow in her shoulder. :)
Best line of the movie.
+Tinymoezzy She took an arrow to the kn-SHOULDER.
Super Cosmic Mutant Honey Candle Squid So this is what love feels like.
LOL it's like actors who cough to indicate that they're sick/dying, regardless of the illness.
She’s in love
I love where the credits are, it's shown over a whole different movie! This same shiat was done on "Pod People" too!
I've read that it was a copyright issue but that never made sense inasmuch as they satirize the rest of the movie. Maybe the music?
@@indy_go_blue6048 Film Ventures International (FVI) was well known for taking movies, removing the original credits and title, and re-releasing them.
Here's a list of all the MST3K movies that FVI got their mitts on:
Pod People - originally Los Nuevos Extraterrestres (The New Extraterrestrials), also goes by Extra-Terrestrial Visitors, The Unearthling and The Return of ET. The credits are clips from a movie called Galaxy Invader.
Cave Dwellers - originally Ator: The Invincible, also goes by The Blade Master. The credits are clips from a movie called Taur: The Mighty.
Space Travelers - originally Marooned. This the only MST3K film that won an Oscar.
Being From Another Planet - originally Time Walker.
Stranded in Space - originally the pilot for a TV show called The Stranger. The credits are clips from Prisoners of the Lost Universe.
Master Ninja 1 and 2 - originally 4 episodes from a TV show called The Master. MN1 is Max and Out-of-Time-Step, MN2 is State of the Union and Hostages.
City Limits - this seems to be the original title.
The moment the hangglider appears, the gang loses it. Utter genius.
The hang glider bit was freaking awesome
Daddy, there’s a boy outside…
TV’s Frank’s face after Dr. F tells him to shut up - holding that little, groovy Mike Douglas Show flower decal... smile crestfallen, but eyes still sparkling with hope and tummy butterflies.
Lmaoooooooo
"His name is Tom"
"Shut up!"
Apparently Miles O'Keeffe (Ator) and Lisa Foster (Mila) have seen this and think it's hilarious. Heard this from the MST guys themselves.
IDK about Lisa, but the rumor is that Miles liked the riff so much that he requested a copy of this back when VHS was the top of the line tech. And the misty crew sent him one.
Good sport that Miles guy. :)
Other than Joe Don Baker and Tojo Studios, the only ones I that I ever heard got upset with MST3K was the people of "Time Chasers." (title edited; tx JvF below.)
Yeah, the "Time Chasers" crew were more bummed than angry - MST3K paying for the rights to riff on the movie actually helped them pay off the film costs and see some profit, so they were in high spirits, and then they watched the riffed version, and, uh... they were NOT expecting the commentary to be as caustic as it was. Some of the MST3K cast later said that was one of the best movies they ever had to mock.
I met the director of Zaat (aka Blood Waters Of Dr Z) randomly once and he wasn't too pleased I only knew the movie from MST3K. But that seemed to be more because they didn't really license the rights, said they just went ahead and made the show before they'd worked out a licensing fee.
I can’t believe how many impersonations Crow does in just this one movie.
Ator's back story was sooo awesome. Best movie I've seen in a while. Yea I'm watching this one more than once.
how much i missed this movie. thank you glovisy.
How can Miles O'Keefe have muscles, six pack abs, a strong jaw, heavy brow, and a rigid posture and still seem effeminate? Is it the hairstyle? The shaggy boots? The undersized loin cloth? Or all of the above?
***** Maybe he's like Bruce Jenner and is transgender.

I still haven't laughed harder to an MST3K than this one...particularly their reenactment.

In an episode of gems, from 1:19:00 Forward is Peak MST3K. Just killer. It will put me on the floor every time. It's been 25 years and it don't matter.
