Learning finger drumming from your vids last year has really helped me in hearing / deciphering drum patterns . Before they would just be a blur but now I can transcribe a pattern pretty rapidly and even crazy fills are now doable with a bit of practice. The way you set up the kit works really well also. Big ups
Also on rewatching the triplet tip is so much easier than what I had come up with. Any plans to do a finger drumming vid focused on fills and the sub pad?
Man, that is fkn dope to read - I didn’t know if anyone took the notation stuff from that video n started doing it. Brilliant. I have this video for the sp404 sub pad which is exactly the same for the mk2: th-cam.com/video/9EvybyCAZwA/w-d-xo.html That’s pretty much what I do with it, on difference is the mk2 pads are easier to finger drum than the old clickity clackity 404 ones. Hope that helps, cheers!
Fixed with variations. That's the way to go. I've mostly been programming everything on the mpc & adjusting velocities later on the grid. BUT I need to get back in the finger drumming. It's SO entertaining to watch. Great Job as always! 👍
Thanks a lot mate, appreciate it! I’m hoping one day we’ll be able to adjust velocities + swing after recording in the TR-REC screen like you do on the MPC. That’d be dope af. Cheers!
This video is very eye opening. I’m considering signing up to Melodics to learn beat making on a fundamental level, but in the mean time I’ll try your method. Also, thanks for putting your settings in the video. I’ve been dealing with a lot of flam false triggers and I’m hoping this will help.
Yeh those false triggers are to be avoided at all cost, just tweak the trig span until it’s gone. My MPD218 is pretty bad with it, takes me a minute or two of warming to get my technique fast n snappy to avoid it on that. Cheers!
When we met you saw my layout. Kick and snares on 9 10 13 and 14 played with the left. Sometimes the kick is triggering a bass sound I would like to have on the one. Hihat and open had on 15 and 16. and right hand is playing with my index finger the hats while the other fingers of the right move to the upper pads to trigger sample chops.
im confused as to how when you said you had variations of the same drums (kick, sanre, and hat) playing diffeent sounds than the origional on the same pads as 13 15 and 16
Nice vid i do some time cut kick and hat together like stump and if there are no swing in sample i cut some space in midle to make hat hit a bit early so in that way i get some fake groove xd
generous of you to share these tips. salute to the SP GOAT !
Haha thanks heaps man, cheers! 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Nice! Thank you 404 sharing
Cheers!

Idk why, but I am curious 😄when you are practicing while watching tv, are you using earphones, headphones, or a speaker?
Thanks!

Indeeeed! You made that work real solid too, having the two hats next to each other like that feel really natural for the right hand.
Espectacular!...TnX for this!! More leaassons pleasee!!!❤
Thanks heaps man! What sort of stuff do you want to see covered?
Magic fingers this one
Dangit, youtube needs GIFs! Sooo many fkn gifs I wanna use to reply to this…some maybe a lil NSFW yaddaddamean

Hi what's the vinyl you sample from? Thanks!
where'd you get that wooden case cover? so nice
I made it from a roll of laminate I found at the hardware store, like this: th-cam.com/video/kDrThKrmrbY/w-d-xo.html
