    In this video, we demo Sakae Almighty Birch drums in a 12 channel recording setup with Universal Audio´s Apollo 8P Interface and the UA 4-710d four channel preamp. The drums sound phenomenal (they remind of the old Yamaha Recording Customs a little) and look stunning, we were very impressed right from the start.
    The complete recording setup is:
    Sakae Almighty Birch drum kit (Wine Red finish)
    Masterwork cymbals
    Universal Audio Apollo 8P & 4-710d (ADAT connection)
    Audio-Technica microphones
    GIK Acoustics room acoustic panels
    The demo was recorded at Spytunes Recording Studio, Mainz
    Drumming by Ralf Schumacher

    what mics are you sending to the reverb-bus? It sounds really goood!!

      Hey Chris, thank you very much! Oh sorry, I don't remember the exact session settings, since the video was done some years ago :) But I think that there was some reverb on the snare/toms, and just a little less on the overhead mics. In addition to that, there were two stereo room mics, which added some additional "real" room sound. Kind regards!

    This demo sounds great! Is it a 20 or 22 bass drum?

    • @digitaldrumming

    hey mate, nice video. How are you tuning this?

    • @digitaldrumming
      @digitaldrumming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Just pretty straight forward tuning (batter head has same pitch as resonant head), I use the overtone labs tunebot every once in a while also. Kind regards!

    I notice that most drum videos like this no one don't pay attention to tom panning. Not talking about drummer vs audience perspectives. Well, yes I am, but not trying to say one is better than the other. When the camera is in front of you we hear the audience perspective and it matches. But when the camera is above you giving more of a drummers perspective, the toms still go in audience perspective. One of these videos, automation would be cool on the toms to switch perspectives with the camera.

      Hey Rob, we always pan audience view, just a matter of personal taste. Switching inside of a mix/video would probably confuse your ears and would be problematic in terms of phase (you would have to change over the complete kit panning every time, as otherwise it is not corresponding. Kind regards

    • @robfulco4739
      @robfulco4739 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fine, your preference. Why I said it wasn't about that. Either perspective is fine by me. I was just saying...not suggesting. I understand it's more work to change the panning, but sound to video is where I was coming from. Again, not suggesting, just observing.
