you should check in the jumper pack slot and see if there is one present, usually these kind of consoles don't ship with one and you're gonna have to buy a seperate jumper pack or exp pack online
I bought a region free gold version from ebay straight from Japan. Never have I received a package with more care taken. It was perfectly wrapped, boxed and shipped immediately and arrived in a few days somehow. Also it works perfectly.
I noticed that this is the Japanese version so that might be showing you video. or does it have the jumper pack / expansion pak in it that also might be a issue.
I had the same issue with my console, third party cables. I ended up plugging it into a CRT TV, and it worked great. There was something with my flat panel tv that prevented it from working
Sometimes it's the cart doing that. N64 can act like the NES sometimes. A jiggle or two and it could start working. Cleaning the game pins usually always fixes the issue.
I've replaced 2 of my dead childhood consoles with Amazon refurbished, and they both came clean with full cables and 1 controller. But most importantly, to me, they were functional, unlike my childhood ones. My father plays them weekly now!
Sorry to hear that man. Usually all of those old consoles are 8/10 bulletproof. The seller definitely did a disservice and should have their account marked as fraud. Anyways the ed64 plus cartridge is tight, It has all the games and runs smooth. I have a collection of original cartridge but I don't even pop them in anymore ever since I got the ed64 Plus, game changer.
My old N64 kinda does the same thing, where it wont boot the game. It usually means the contacts are dirty. Give that cartridge a soak with contact cleaner and insert/remove/insert etc the cartridge till it boots up. That helps remove some of the oxidization on the connectors.
For $100 and no major issues, that is a good deal. Always remember that when buying refurbished, the focus is function over form. My OG N64 has issues with some newer screens. Idk what that's about. I will say that I've never had any issues with Amazon Refurbished "retro" consoles.
I would take a toothbrush and some 91% isopropyl and go at it with the cartridge slot just incase. It might look clean but it still might have some nasties on the contacts that you can't see. If that doesn't work. Could also check for broken traces on the board especially coming from the AV port. Deoxit 5 works great too for dirty contacts. Check the jumper pack/expansion pack slot too
Haha. I bought a neon green N64 controller from Amazon. The seller said it was fully refurbished yet when it arrived it was dirty and the stick was so loose it didn't even work. Amazon definitely isn't the best place to purchase anything retro or used.
I don't know if it's not good condition if it's not clean they probably package the controller in there or had it laying around in there so just buff it out big deal it's not Prime and it's not from a store so if it is you can just return it who cares but maybe it's the power adapter since it's a third party it's not giving it enough juice like yes to turn it on but no to power the fact that it's going to Output video so just because the red light goes on doesn't mean it really works per se so try it with your original power adapter
Swapped jumper for my spare and that didn't work. Also swapped the power for my old one no luck. Not sure of what's bad in there but just got a n64 console only and used all my stuff I had left over and it worked perfectly
@@OfficialChaseBrogan i actually don’t know what to say. It could be an instance of the contacts or console itself need cleaning. Or something with the board Itself. Not sure tho
Yeah tried my original power supply and no luck. Got a replacement console off Mercari for $35 and everything works great. Just a bad console something internally had to be busted on it.
I don't know i don't usually buy retro stuff from ebay or Amazon i would buy it from a local seller so i can both take a look at it and also bargain for the price, u better learn ur lesson
I have 6 n64 games. Tried them all. Didn't think showing 40 min of me trying everything would make for entertaining content. Simple fact is it doesn't work. Bought an n64 console only used all my cables that didn't work on this and it fired right up no problem.
Jumper pack or ram upgrade installed? Console won't boot without either one or the other installed....

Same got a gamboy color shell they packaged that so well even included a Pokemon card

$103? that’s insane

The NSO N64 controllers and the blueretro blue tooth adapters makes the N64 so much better
Threw the video on . I was texting my wife listening to your voice and popping my head up every so often I thought you were Johnny Knoxville hahaha
hahaha I haven't heard that one before. Idk how I feel about that hahaha
Unless it's an amazon product, the things you are buying from amazon are sold by 3rd party sellers.
Amazon sellers have no shame!!...🤷♂️😆
People need to stop supporting them
Amazon has no shame 😂
100 bucks for a n64 with no game is crazy 😂
I thought the same
Normally they use amazon tape
This was a box within the regular box. The first box had my address so I took it out of that one for the unboxing
Killer instinct Gold Tournament 😊
Should’ve tried cleaning the cart pins. Cart pins get dirty in a matter of days. I’ve clean carts only to have to clean them again in a couple days.
You would think they do a test before selling these on amazon. To make sure they work...
As long as that return policy doesn't change I'd love to see this become a series of unfortunate Amazonian events.
Haha I feel like that's how the last week and a half has gone. It wasn't a part of the plan but I'm okay with it for sure haha.

I was about to say the same thing. The jumper/expansion pack has to be installed in order to boot the game.
Or check to see if you have a jumper pack installed..... the first thing you do when you get a N64 check to see if you got one.
This is why I very rarely buy anything retro related on amazon
Well amazon as a whole is a rip-off. And why don't you check to see if you have a jumper pack.... the first thing you do when getting a N64.

I luckily have had mostly good experience with Amazon but haven’t got anything lately
I'd have bought one on Amazon. You expect things like that to be a standard item of quality.
Right especially at a premium price point
Did you buy from Amazon refurbished? Also, ebay refurbished is decent too (the verified one that says ebay refurbished)
Im thinking it could either be the 3rd party power brick or there maybe no jumper or expansion pak inserted
Swapped jumper for my spare and that didn't work. Also swapped the power for my old one no luck. Not sure of what's bad in there but just got a n64 console only and used all my stuff I had left over and it worked perfectly

The bottom of the console is in better condition.... what? The surface facing downward is better..... what?
What did you do with my gamecube?!
You have to blow into the cartridge.
you never checked to see if it had a jumper pak
Yeah I did and I swapped it out for my old one as well no luck either way
I could tell you were upset before you said it. Let's hope you get a much better one within the deadline required!
Thanks for the warning Chase❤
Bro you just probably needed to blow in it. My wife's 64 took more than 5 times but eventually worked.
You dont know wtf youre talking about
Hey everyone
Hey bro I need help making my ssd the primary drive. Please help.
Did you rule out the game and power supply? I know the light comes on, but I wouldn’t take that as 100% proof all is good with the PSU.
Yeah tried my original power supply and no luck. Got a replacement console off Mercari for $35 and everything works great. Just a bad console something internally had to be busted on it.

could try your original power supply on the amazon n64 maybe the output is to low
Tried that no luck
@@OfficialChaseBrogan nice one bro
@@OfficialChaseBroganprobably caps.
Great video. !! Amazon
Should have tested it !! Stay away from DK Oldies !!! Shady !!
Amazon doesn't test anything from third party sellers. Like eBay.
Win sum lose sum
100 percent user error.........
You didn't blow on the game , then try again 😒
I blew on the game 200 times 🤣 I didn't want to turn everyone on so I did that off screen
@@OfficialChaseBrogan you decision not to show good content 😆
Lmao
And this right here is why I emulate I refuse to buy consoles
Yeah and you can upscale with emulation
100k subs and 800 views. after 5hours ..... sure buddy.........
Lmao you clearly have no idea how TH-cam works
Amazon sent be a hard drive with batocera and supposedly 110,000 games on it and I got like 85k.
How do you know that your cartridge (still) works? This video is just stupid. The N64 probably has no problem at all.
