      I'm sure she does... except for the part where Larry makes a false claim about cracking frames lol. The rails were extended and the front region beefed up because of the change from forged parts to cast parts, not because of the frames cracking.

    Not really a gun owner but my first time at the range was with a CZ 75 so It has a special place in my heart. The feel of it and how easy it was to control. As someone doesn't shoot often it just felt right, you know like I been shooting for years.

    Back in the late 80s I was at a gun show in Lakeland Florida and a gun dealer had just crates and crates of the CZ 75. And they were very inexpensive I never owned one or seen one and for the price I decide to buy one I think it was like 129. And that gun ended up being the best shooting most accurate gun I've ever had and I could kick myself in the butt so many times for getting rid of that gun thanks for the video it was awesome.

    I noticed the difference years ago at a Gunshow in Texas. Hold a bunch of pistols in my hand and the best feel was with the CZ 75. The looks and all steel build is awesome. Other guns feel like toyguns but not this one !!!

  • @B51608
    @B51608 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It is my understanding the slide and frame were reinforced for the Swedish military as they were interested in the gun and they wanted to use very hot Norma ammo. According to the Gun Smith Cats comic books, the gun´s steel quality had to be lowered in turn to make it cheaper. Go figure the truth. As a shooter of this model, it kicks quite a bit due to the slender front end. Mine was under 500 bucks brand new.

    Iv'e got one exactly like that. Think it was manufactured in 1977 or 78. It's in excellent condition with about 200 shots through it, and funny enough, the quality of especially the bluing is better than any CZ I've ever seen. Cz's that came to South Africa at that stage was excellently manufactured. I must mention the trigger, it's as smooth as you can get, with no grit or stacking.

    I own multiple CZs, but not the first model. Cut my teeth on CZ-75B, still own one along with a SP01 and a CZ 75 Compact and some other models. I did manage to get a second model pre-B CZ 75, an Israeli (police/Mossad?) trade in, a few years ago. Was missing most of the finish so I had it Cerakoted a dark blue black and added some walnut grip scales with original CZ logo. Shoots great, just needed a little love. One of the most copied pistols in the world. Excellent reliability and ergonomics, feels like a part of your hand. On a good day it will shoot 0.5" groups at 7 yards using standard isosceles stance, just one small ragged hole.

    I've heard that the reason the scallop was extended out was because when it was produced in the west the steel was much softer and that pre-b CZ-75 steel was too hard for western tools? Hadn't heard about slide cracking before

    • @erlosungmetal
      @erlosungmetal 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      somewhat true, but it was not because of western tools. The Czechs switched from manufacturing the pistols with forged parts to cast parts, for cost reasons and ease of mass production.
      The slides did not suffer from cracking, that is myth. You should see some of the pictures on the CZ forums of guys who's short rails had been through Rhodesia. Those things can take more abuse and handle higher round counts than the pistols with the extended scallops with cast frames.
      Both the "Short rail" and the "pre-b" pistols are pre-bs. there are two versions of the pre-b, the first model and the second model. Most of the time when people refer to "pre-b" they are talking about the second model with the longer rails

    I recently got my hands on a cz75, not a B model, bought it as a surplus pistol, the funny thing is it can use the standard 16 round magazines from the newer B model but it has no firing pin block. It was made in 1994. Which leads me to believe it was one of the transitional models. One extra round, less expensive magazines, and a slightly better trigger are all wins in my book.

    • @OldGrayCzechWolf
      @OldGrayCzechWolf 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was a bunch of ex-Israeli models that arrived about then. Finish was usualy far gone and there were signs of hard handling. Most were pre-B or transitional models. They cleaned up nice and still shoot great.

    If you like the CZ-75 I highly recommend the SAR 2000 made by a Turkish company that makes high quality military grade weapons. Sarsilmaz is a top tier high quality old school company that makes sweet CZ-75 clones. The best thing about them is they are all hammer forged high grade steel. This is coming from someone that my top favorite pistol manufacturer is CZ and Dan Wesson.
