I found that I had to move the bits and sets to a new box, with the original run. There was a smell with them of gasoline. Using dish soap to wash the dice and dial (dried out after), and putting the cards in a container with a drier sheet, seemed to fix the issue. I want to thank BGG forum for this solution. This is in addition to the airing everything out. It is a shame about the box though, because it is a really good box. The felt liner in it is a stink sink that held the smell. I hope future runs fix this issue.
I was exactly the person Mike described. I'm interested in Chip Theory Games' games but have been apprehensive about buying one of the large games. I bought this almost on a whim from my friendly local game store, only knowing it was a solo game by CTG. I've only played Solar Sentinels once so far and have enjoyed it.
Yeah just commenting here saying that the game/system is great. Hoplomachus deck ESPECIALLY. So, so much content in that Hoplomachus deck considering how different each end boss is. Solar Sentinels has the least variety out of all of them, but it's also much breezier than the Hoplomachus deck and easier to just jam a game. It's so good, kudos to Chip Theory truly.
Sounds like the issues are similar to the TMB issues. If it's as fun then maybe the TMB crowd will be fine with them. Lose on turn one or know you are not likely to win due to bad luck.
I felt the opposite. Thru all felt VERY samey but I agree the bad dive luck felt crippling. I played it A few times but was left cold. No more than a 6. Great production values of course!
It took me almost 6 weeks just to get the awful chemical smell out of the components before i could even play it. Never had such horrible smelling components.
I washed the dice with dish soap and put everything in a new box. The gasoline smell gets absorbed into the felt liner of the box. Wash the dice, store the original Rulebook in with drier sheets, and then move everything to a new box.
I decided to sell my copy and will buy it again with a reprint. They admitted it was a manufacturing mistake, so hopefully won't be a problem with later printings.
It feels very very different. One Deck Dungeon is a dice puzzle where 20 Strong is more of a resource and push your luck game. On the surface, sure, but they feel different.
@@KnockOneOutYT I think 20 Strong is a better game that has more variation and excitement, but it’s much harder and less forgiving. I feel like One Deck Dungeon is much easier and so sometimes it’s nice to have that breeziness.
I fully prefer 20 strong. I feel the decision space is much higher on 20 strong and the variation game to game higher. One deck dungeon always feels samey and like there are less areas for me to manipulate for style/strategy.
Opening graphic shows Catan, not 20 strong
20 starfarers strong
Hah, good to know I didn't hallucinate that!
It is the stand alone multiplayer expansion that doesn't require anything from the original game.

I’m really excited for the next campaign of 20strong with Manny Trembley’s art.

Is that a new dice tower seal of excellence logo/art? Looks good!

experience comparison between this and One Deck Dungeon?
Both are dice chucky. One Deck one grows the dice pool used to get stronger. With 20 Strong, one uses other modifiers with a fixed pool.
Having played both, I like this more. Both have things to manipulate the dice once you roll them but 20strong is more solid.
WOW haven't watched a DT vid since 2023 cruise. BIG changes!! Things sure have grown!!!!!
Really like this game. Get on the 20 strong Tanglewoods train Kickstarter now

Same feelings, but keep in mind the value. Because the cost is low, it was fair deal for only a few plays.
@@goldsmeeth2771 weeeeeeell I didn’t enjoy those plays tremendously. But I do take ur point!
Absolutely wild take considering how different the Hoplomachus deck is from the Solar Sentinels deck lol
@@brianmattei7134 Weeeeeell I don't think its that 'absolutely wild' honestly. You roll dice. You roll dice. You roll dice....
@@Theplaysthet Yeah every game seems stupid when you reduce it down to its most basic elements.
20 strong catan lol now I would get that. Smooth editing though!
DT, what up? Wrong game picture, no TH-cam chapters, no Mike thumbnail..
They've learned to edit Mike in much more naturally from the Dice Tower Midwest Annex.
20 Strong: Catan reveal?
Tom rated it a 5/10 in a recent fast-rating video, now this 🙄😏
Feels a bit wierd giving a current rating base on future promise
The rumor says the next Chip Theory game will be one die and one card, and it will cost $500.
Take my money
I bought this game in the hopes of enjoying it. Man it did not hit for me at all

And in the process, other smells joined the mix.
Yeah, but at 50$+ for the base game and 30$+ for each expansion, it's a pass. Way too expensive.
It’s $30 for the base game on their website…
Yeah I regularly see 20 strong at 50-60€ with all decks included and base game for around 30. And CTG games tend to be more expensive in europe.
@@boomgolf 30$ US, which means 40$ CDN and add 10 to 15$ shipping, US, that ends up being 50$ to 55$ CDN plus there's the import charges.
This sounds a lot like One Deck Dungeon. Almost a bit too much. 😕
