I love the colored (especially dark colors) nails on SHORT nails! I absolutely abhor long nails! They look tacky as hell! Especially when they are dark brown or maroon . These colors are best suited on short nails !
I love matching shoes and bags. I don’t do it all the time but to me it elevates a look so much. I’m not certain it’s a trend rather something classic that is being appreciated again.
Right. My mother and grandmother always matched their shoes and bags. Its a timeless look. Not really my thing but I actually like it in some instances for example when I want to make a statement like matching my tights with my shoes or doing a monochromatic look using the same color but in different shades from the same color family
Great video. The socks peaking out of the boots was popular in 1976. My boyfriend bought me some Frye boots and topper socks. The socks were folded over the top of the boot or worn flat against the leg. Just like they wear them today. Fashion always comes back around.
Hilariously I wore my boots this past weekend with a skirt and my socks were peeking out and I didn’t realize it at first. Good to know I was actually on trend! I also dared to wear my white jeans with a camel turtleneck. Very hard for this 50-something to wear white after Labor Day but it did look cute
I really like that large floral print on you. Makes your hair really shine through. Generally I haven’t liked that style but think that one is fantastic. Most of these trends were great.
White brings out the fall jewel tones so well and makes them shine (versus black which kind of dulls the color). Love the idea of white wide leg pants and jewel tones for fall.
Lol @ half of my wardrobe is black and the other half is jewel tones 😂 Can't say I entirely agree with you there. Perhaps it's because I'm fair-skinned and blonde, so the black creates contrast with my features and white doesn't.
Yes, and I'm so sensitive, that even cashmere irritates my skin just a little sometimes, so I often wear a white T-shirt or button down underneath, sticking out top and bottom. I don't think that's a new trend, actually.
The floral top is JUST KILLER on you, Anna!! The jet black background, rich colors and the artwork itself are the perfect pops of well, everything. And bracelets on the sleeves? Why not? Some blouses come with a half necklace of chains or pearls sewn in at the neck line and they are really pretty. It's a creative way to dress up an outfit.
Love this video that is so fun and entertaining as always. Regarding white - I wear white year-round, including a maxi denim skirt. As I told my mother years ago, it's not the 1900's and I don't summer in the Hamptons (LOL). Perhaps it's a regional thing or rebellion on my part, but at 73, maybe I get to be a little rebellious.
I think it came from a time when roads weren’t paved yet and the muddy streets in the fall/winter would ruin a white garment. Like you said it’s not the 1900s anymore 😊
How funny that a t-shirt under a sweater is considered a trend. I have lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Maine over the years and layering up in the winter makes sense. Everyone does it all winter long. (I also lived in Florida for 11yrs so I get what that is like too!)
Belt/bag/shoes, matching two out of three, I think, really pulls an outfit together and not dated or trendy at all. I did the sandwich-colors outfit recently and matched all three, actually, and got tons of compliments. Love your video as always.
I do like the bracelet on a skinny sleeve but not so much on a wide sleeve! Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate and enjoy your content! Have a great weekend Anna! 🤗👍
Oh, white jeans in the winter it’s so cool. Like an Italian! Love it with cognac belt and shoes … by the way, you can spray the pants with water/dirt repellend spray and this does the trick 😊
Out of everything, my favorite is burgundy accessories and nails. I'd love to get decked out in a grey cardi and skirt with burgundy tights, shoes, bag, or grey trousers and a grey silk blouse with a burgundy belt, shoes, bag, and maybe a leopard scrunchie in my hair just for a little pop.
Aaand that's why I don't throw too much fashion stuff out...haha! Most things cycle around again. Really nothing new under the sun. I can now wear my heeled loafers, my studded belts, & my faux boot socks again...yay! Fortunately, they all still look modern. Happy!
ABSOLUTELY will be wearing chocolate & Burgundy nails, also love the sock peeking out of the boot as far as the bangles on top of cuffs I did try it, but it was a little uncomfortable, but seeing this maybe I’ll give it another go! With thinner cuffs or sweater.
I think the burgundy nails and the white t-shirt underneath a sweater has been around for a couple of years now, and I like both because they aren’t trendy. With the advent of going for natural fabrics like wool that can tend to itch around the neck it’s an absolute necessity,
I feel that most of these are in the “what goes around comes around” category, although in people years I’m 67. In my head I’m 40, tall and elegant.😁 Beautiful top, btw.
Love the heeled loafers with argyle tights and mini skirts - a nod to the 70’s! And I like the socks with tall boots. I think it’s sexy. You’re so right- we each can’t like all of the same things!
❤LOVE the top! As a hard-core Gen-X-er, I love to see folks take a break from the super-safe ‘all neutrals all the time’ snooze-fest ‘quiet luxury’ dressing. It’s a well-done pattern, which can be a challenge to find. And the cooler colors flatter you. Excellent choice!
Gen Xer here too. Teenager in the UK in the 80's. Fashion was crazy, one minute dressing like Madonna with her lace gloves, the next like the girls from Bananarama, or lacy blouses like Princess Di, or New Romantic pop style, plus rock chic, or Laura Ashley dresses. It was hard to keep up but so much FUN. I shopped in the 2nd hand charity shops and got clothes from the 40's and 50's which were still around and put my spin on them. I do like the "quiet luxury" look, but having lived through the fun 80's it is so "I take myself too seriously" and think it needs a few interesting or glam accessories to oomph it up. How did fashion ever get so boring and serious? Where is the fun, the frippery, the whimsy to amuse oneself and others? I think that needs to come back. I loved Elsa Schaparelli (?)'s fun clothes featuring strategically placed birds/animals etc.
@@softsophisticateI think we did have more fun. With the changing times, the economic and environmental fears, the covid pandemic, and maybe especially the political upheaval, I think people feel safer and more cozy with coordiates and neutrals.
Yes to adding socks(that show!) with loafers, sneakers, booties, high boots! With skirts! I was in NYC a couple of months ago and socks, that show, were everywhere. Think of it as a new accessory to add to your outfit. All ages.
I loooove your top!!!! I didn’t see a link. I’m loving suede bags and studded belts! Loafers ❤ I have a hard time transitioning out of summer - but not this year. Fun things to wear this year
Greetings from Finland! We wear white trousers and skirts only in summer. )) And in other seasons, all other colours. Current clothes include jackets, hats, warm boots. And jeans! )) However, it is always nice to look at warm regions - what they wear there.
Great video-as ALWAYS! Anna, let’s talk about HAIR, because yours is EVERYTHING! It looks absolutely beautiful-stunning! Some of these trends would be lots of fun, but I just can’t do white on bottom after Labor Day. I know it’s an outdated rule, but my grandmother and mom (as well as her 7 sisters) would probably HAUNT me. I do think it’s beautiful on other people though!
Yes to wearing bracelets over sleeves. I have recently purchased the guitar straps from Amazon to change up my handbag straps. Yesterday I wore brown penney loafers with a black leather small bag and put a solid brown strap on it. Just my way of matching shoes and bag. ( black flare leg jeans and a denim blouse.
Love the white tshirt under the sweater look & it helps add a lil extra warmth. Same thing with the socks showing past the boots, which I love! Thanks for another fun video :)
The matching of accessories is just good class, and it goes with the idea of always having the pop of colour in a pair, so that any colour is recalled somewhere else in the outfit… 😊
I love matching shoes and belts when I can, but it's not always possible. More often my accessories are in analogous colors: browns and burgundy, greens and navy, blacks and grays. By necessity, a tote will be analogous or contrasting to a handbag. (There's always so much to carry on errands day.) I am afraid of white bottoms in autumn because everything outside seems wet and dirty most of the time. Dirt spots are not a good look for me. Or, are dirt spots a trend like the beat up sneakers with the stars? I have form for enshrineing white separates in my closet without ever wearing them. But, I love dark burgundy, forest green and dark brown with whites in the fall when I have the courage or the weather is just right. (It's crazy like trying to pick the right-weather day to wear my 20-yo gold suede jacket-- remembering the suede jacket episode of Seinfeld). Navy and white scream spring to me. I have done navy and brown or black for autumn. And dark wash denim is a year-round neutral in my mind . I have been consciously avoiding black for years because it washes me out. This year I finally gave in because a few pieces I loved were only available in black. My plan to keep it fresh will be to combine blacks with larger proportions of browns, navy or charcoal greys. Black and white contrast looks like it's "wearing me". Scarves near my face can also help prevent my skin from fading away. I don't wear a lot of makeup due to dry eyes and eczema. I tend to rely on skin care and moisturizer and I have fun with colored prescription and sunglasses. White t-shirts peeking at the edges of layers is a nice trick to add bright contrast to dark layers. Because I have chronic arthritis in my shoulders and arms, I have to pick slippery fabrics as the under-layers to get the pieces to line up properly and hang loosely when I move. I like the look of white cotton but I can't manage it and I look frumpy or fussy if I am constantly tugging at layers that ride up on each other. Silk, satin, and (cringe) polyester knits work well for me. Lately I've been thinking about why I make certain clothing choices. It seems like 60% of the time I am ENTERTAINING myself, expressing my creativity and just having fun (I am retired). 30% of the time I make functional choices for doctors' appointments, pedicures, gym visits. And 10% of the time I conform to expectations of an event. The last category seems to take up disproportionate closet space because of specialization and specialness of the event. These are the items I save for parties, funerals, vacations and the days the wind chill drops below -20F. I think it's really interesting to hear and read in the comments about how different people think and feel about their clothing choices. This is a thought provoking channel that helps me process all the noise coming from the fashion world and marketing. And I enjoy all the comments from the community. WELL DONE, everyone!
This was a great video! Lots of new trends that I weren’t on my radar but now that you mention them, I have definitely seen it. I am a fan of all of them.
Very cool too, Anna! Im all for quiet luxury, but think we have to step outside that aesthetic once in a while or we are all going to look alike! We need to inject some fun in our wardrobe! ❤ I’ve always worn statement bracelets over my long sleeve tops!
I am totally there. We set the trends. But I absolutely love to mix up the current trends with my own style. I look stupid when I try to simply copy a trend. Probably because it’s done will the wrong energy. But when I mix it up, I always catch eyes constantly 😊
There's so many trends that it's a free for all at this point. Maybe with some exceptions but basically do what thou want with your style and all will be well.
I love your shirt (sans thumb holes, lol :o). I think the big bracelet over the wrist of a sweater looks really cool and I am totally going to do that one.
At 57yo I have skinny short calves and would probably try socks peaking from knee high boots (but in same color as boots) because all boots are too wide and gape around my 14" circumference calves.
I like the socks sticking out of the boots because i have big feet, but thin calves so most boots stick out from my legs! The sicks might take up some of that visual space!
Love the top! And thanks for giving me a little bit of respite from all the election craziness going on now - trying so hard not to freak out as we head into the final week.
I'd say those are some very cool, cool girl trends and im here for the party! My favs are the studs, the bracelets over long sleeves and the socks with boots ❤❤❤
I would love to wear white but I hate it when I find splatter spots (from sauce ketchup soy sauce oil etc) and yellowing from sweat and skin cells. Tops and pants I can wash after each wearing (but what a pain!!!) but knits and outerwear are hard to do so. I find my white tops are almost always sitting there not used so I stop buying white.
A lot of us have these things at home already. I have tall socks and boots. I have some western wear. I can wear a T-shirt under a sweater. I appreciate your videos.
Hi Anna, I normally don’t post on your video blogs. However, I feel compelled to tell you that this top you are wearing is remarkable. Perhaps because in Canada, where I live, I would never see anything like it maybe in United States there are a lot more choices for clothes? in any case it is so gorgeous on you. With your hair it just looks perfect. You look like a top model in this. I also love this top because it reminds me of body art. so speaking of matching your bag to your shoes. How about matching your bag to your hair? Because like this when we are putting colours together in our clothes, the colour of your hair will match in your outfit. Therefore, your bag will always match you. It’s just an idea that came up. However, a lot of people prefer to match their bag to their clothes. I think both are good ideas. I really like your videos and enjoy watching them. Thank you for your content.
The more I looked at your top, the more I liked it! The colors and prints are just beautiful! Now these trends that you've talked about, most of them I think would be fun and funky for young women. Women in their twenties, but not any older just for the fact that these were styles that young people wore back in the day and for an older woman to copy them now is just a "trying too hard" vibe!
I’ve always worn my boot socks with my riding boots under skirts, especially in the fall/winter months… it’s just practical. Never realized it was a trend or in or out 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve also always worn T’s under my sweaters. It’s not only practical, helps keep from having to wash my sweaters after every wear, but also adds another color/contrast at face & hem. But I tend to wear more what I like and works for me than what is trending.
I love your top! Your colors are beautiful and the contrast is lovely!
Agree
💯
Yeah, me too…I guess I never got the memo it was out of style.
Me also. I've always liked it and do it! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Right. My mother and grandmother always matched their shoes and bags. Its a timeless look. Not really my thing but I actually like it in some instances for example when I want to make a statement like matching my tights with my shoes or doing a monochromatic look using the same color but in different shades from the same color family

I’m 64 and I’ve seen trends come back a few times. It’s often a bit different but if you’ve kept the originals they will work.
I love the socks showing with boots! I have skinny legs, so it adds a bit of bulk, and make my boots look a bit more fitted!
My thoughts exactly!! I was instantly like "omg I love it"
Love it! I think I wore that too much last time around and I’m just not ready for it but it’s a fun look! ❤️❤️
Yes I’m so excited this is “cool” again 🎉
Hilariously I wore my boots this past weekend with a skirt and my socks were peeking out and I didn’t realize it at first. Good to know I was actually on trend!
I also dared to wear my white jeans with a camel turtleneck. Very hard for this 50-something to wear white after Labor Day but it did look cute
I love to wear my rain boots l have 4 pairs and ldc l could wear Capri pants with my RB.
I really like that large floral print on you. Makes your hair really shine through. Generally I haven’t liked that style but think that one is fantastic. Most of these trends were great.
Thanks! I felt the same, something about it! ❤️❤️
I am really liking the studs on jackets and bags for the cool rocker chic look (Rebecca Minkoff does those very well) ❤
White brings out the fall jewel tones so well and makes them shine (versus black which kind of dulls the color).
Wearing shirts under sweaters also keeps the sweater clean longer because the shirt collects all the sweat
Yes, and I'm so sensitive, that even cashmere irritates my skin just a little sometimes, so I often wear a white T-shirt or button down underneath, sticking out top and bottom. I don't think that's a new trend, actually.
And you can take the sweater off when a place is too hot.
The floral top is JUST KILLER on you, Anna!! The jet black background, rich colors and the artwork itself are the perfect pops of well, everything.

Wow, I wore my watch, and other cuffs over my long sleeves, since my mid 20s. I’m 62 and I still do the same thing. 😂❤
Exactly my point about fashion! Trends are never new 😂
Came here to say that!
I agree, I like a cuff on the tight sleeve not on a blouse sleeve.
Matching colors for at least two accessories has always seemed right and looks like an effort was made to coordinate an outfit.
I love brown nails, they match everything. Warm camel is a good option also. I love a cuff and watch over a sleeve, it looks great.
Oh, white jeans in the winter it’s so cool. Like an Italian! Love it with cognac belt and shoes … by the way, you can spray the pants with water/dirt repellend spray and this does the trick 😊
Spray with silicone spray?

Same!!!
Same! I have bins in the basement that say “dated but too nice to go”
I love off white pants during the fall & winter but texture is everything, cashmere, tweed, or corduroy.
With the shoes/bag/belt thing. I will usually match 2 out of the three. Then make the third thing a statement thing.
Love it! ❤️

Wearing the bracelet over the clothing is something I have done a lot. It’s really a fun way to wear them
Bracelet on top of the sleeve is a big yes 🙌 better strategy to both keep warm in these months and also keep the jewelry visible! 😊❤
Yay! I still have my boot socks that are now back in style. 😂And I always have and always will wear burgundy clothes and nails. Love that color!

I love that shirt you’re wearing! You look great in it and it’s genuinely beautiful!
OK straight away love love love your top it makes me think of a beautiful piece of art❤
I'd say those are some very cool, cool girl trends and im here for the party! My favs are the studs, the bracelets over long sleeves and the socks with boots ❤❤❤
Love your floral top and your Peru train trip looked fabulous.
I like the sock or cuff with boots. It’s really cute and comfy
I’m not big on prints. That top is an exception. It’s gorgeous!
Thank you for always interesting and trendy content!
I’m happy to hear studded bags are coming back. I’ll wear it with my socks peeping out of my boots!
Beautiful fashion and message!
Fantastic top! Adore it
Love the bracelet on top of the sleeves ❤️
Anne, what ever you wear, looks great. Love the top!❤
I love socks peeking out over boots. Never really stopped so guess I can be in for a bit
I've been doing the bracelet (and chunky/men's watch) over my sleeves for many years. It just makes sense! Akways enjoy your videos 🧡
Love your bold print floral top!
I LOVE wearing white / cream bottoms all year round! Happy I’m trendy now lol
I wore my white slacks today with a sleeveless, hunter green, sweater. It was perfect for our Texas “fall-ish” weather!
I'm gonna bring out and start wearing my studded belt again. Thanks for the fun inspiration .❤
You look fabulous
