Thanks for sharing this Thomas. I love the Renault 5 brought to life. Nothing like seeing the retro-futuristic vehicle we can actually buy. I love it.

Definitely a winner, looks fantastic! Real buttons and a baguette holder, what more do you want? A shame it won't come to North America...or will it?

VW ID.2? In 2026, maybe? 🤣 Renault totally nailed it with the R5 ♥️

I am 95% there to buy one. Small EV cars are more suited. The only thing that will make this a hot seller will be the battery life, warranty and replacement cost.

Wow, surely the new most desirable small EV 👍

Largest battery size is bit dissapointing. If consumption is low enough then this might be my next car.

I would say from experience that 50kWh is too big for this segment already. 40kWh will be more than enough, since vehicles like the MG ZS EV, Opel Moka E, or even the Citroen eC4 ...etc have similar battery sizes and they are bigger.

50 kWh is far large enough for everyday. For long trips it implies a wide and reliable fast charging network, and thanks to more and more Tesla superchargers opened to all cars it is now quite ok in Europe. Of course, a bigger battery means less stops during a long trip, but the inconvenience of a "small" battery is small compared to the reduction in price and weight. So it is definitely the way to go at least for an affordable car. I am not so sure for the 40 kWh version, especially since it will also impact charging speed, long trip could be more challenging. But again, it depends on how often you do road trips with your R5.

However, I think the charge port would have been better placed at the back, or in the front but on the other side. For a better access to Tesla superchargers. Renault did it for the Megane E tech, and I know some Megane owners who are quite happy of that !!
