I feel with you. I know them since their first song...liked it but wasn't diging deeper. So i missed nearly 4 years. Then I missed them on Wembley cause I had to work. Live is full of missed opportunities but this is realy hurting me specialy that I never saw a concert live with all 3 of them :( . But anyway, looking at the bright side it's so much fun to be a BM fan.
Michael Wolf Yui will be missed but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen, especially after the Starlight MV!

I know what it feels to be an idiot by disregard the band......
Years ago some costumer with Babymetal Shirt wanted I play something from them but I refused cause I was not willing to play a Band with such a name (Working as Barkeeper in a Metal/Punk Bar).
Then, after a wild party I see the Karate vid and gave it a try........I was instantly addicted and feeled like a moron to dont get sooner on this Band.

Got the same here. Had a house party on my place and some girls wanna watch Babymetal stream (Music on the party was from my YT list) and I said (drunk and stoned) "keep Slipknot FFS!".
1 week later after a concert I came home smashed and this Vid was on the list and I tried it = addicted immediaetly and feeled like a

@@DecvsJapan it is a few years since i started listening to BabyMetal i think i got the recommends because i was into metal and anime and most things Japanese and the youtube computer most of thought he like this. The computer was wrong i bloody love this.
Bacame a die hard since i watched the reaction video on FBE, watching the official mv again what made me a fandom.
I understand now why she does look half Chinese-Japanese. She reminds me of Michelle Yeoh a little.

Strange, I watched this mv for the first time, minutes before you uploaded this!! 😆 Wasn't a fan of BM but I'm also getting to appreciate them more lately (watched the Live @ Download Festival 2018 version of Megitsune multiple times👌), this song shows more of Sumetal's vocal ability and it's looks super fun live 👍

This song makes all sorts of references to Japanese folk lore around foxes. It contains one of Su Metal's favorite lines "Smiling with our faces, crying in our hearts." When Su pulls the dagger from the microphone, the words she says are roughly translated as 'maidens shouldn't be underestimated'. In addition, it is reference to a famous stage play or film, I think when the female character pulls a dagger and quotes the same words.

Great song, find a live version (live at Metrock 2015 on Dailymotion is a good one for the crowd especially, but they are all good) to get the crowd participation in this one. Did you recognise the Japanese folk song melody in the breakdown? It comes from Sakura Sakura.

Speaking of dubstep... actually more like EDM but still, an awesome remix of their own song "Headbanger", live by Babymetal themselves. Quite a bit different from their usual stuff that lands on albums but I highly recommend to see it (maybe as a next BM reaction video?)

Ni hao Aika! She looks beautiful as always and nationalities don't matter anyways. That said I don't think she looks very Chinese, but I'm also not very good at distinguishing between Chinese and Japanese. I think she looks a tiny bit like Michelle Yeoh though, who to me also doesn't look very Chinese.
So maybe the "Ni Hao" was for you, Dec, because you look definitely like someone who would study Chinese ;-)

Just ran across this reaction, Dec vs Japan...and I loved it! Always find it funny how you beat yourself up about not "finding" Babymetal sooner. Didn't think about Aika as of a chinese... But she does look a little bit... dunno... IF I was thinking that she is Chinese - I'd think about her only as of a mongol chinese or an oroqen chinese - she has a similar form of cheekbones. It's just my opinion tho...

Someone mentioned that when introducing Babymetal to someone they should recommend two songs and I couldn't agree more. Not to say that they are bad (because they aren't at all), but like me the over the top/first time seeing a band like this is too much for some people. That's why a proper heavy song like Karate drew me in and then hooked me!
Road of resistance is probably a safe place to start as well.

Here's a totally off-topic question: As I have understood, you are working as a teacher in Japan? Are you working with kids? If so, and if others are interested, I wouldn't mind hearing / seeing about your experiences. My impression about Japanese kids (none of them first-hand, though) is that they seem to be much more fun and relaxed than Western kids (sorry to all Western Mums an Dads). Not sure how to describe it. Something like the opposite of pubescent behaviour.:-) I'm wondering if there is some truth to that impression.
I mean it's a society of mainly introverted people who keep to themselves and don't boast when they win something. You don't want to stand out in Japan so it's better to stay quite and not voice your own opinion. However with today's youth it is definitely changing (see Shibuya, Halloween 2018). I also encourage my students to speak up but alas i'm only one guy. Of course all my friends are outspoken and get smashed with me all the time haha.

I don't really like them that much, I mean instrumental wise, they're rock like hell but the vocals are just too cute and innocent like.
I agree with you on some songs and initially that did put me off listening to them - even if the music was awesome. But the singer (Sumetal) has such a strong and powerful voice. Listen to the chorus or songs like Rondo of Nightmare/Starlight. I mean I've only listened to like 5 songs haha but her voice is very strong in some songs. Almost like Nightwish or Evanescence.
