First off this is amazing! Thank you for sharing Dave! I’m also wondering if there is a way to do the automatic animation in the pro version? I know currently it can with the mouth movements but is it possible with the gestures and facial expressions as well? That would be so helpful! Thanks!
There is a compute head movement option in there, but not the arms and other stuff. The way these quick action puppets are set up is just one big swap set with a ton of replays for the head, arms, eyes, etc. So I would recommend rigging your characters that way and then just using the timeline to add/switch between triggers - not automatic, but for the pro version that should give you a little more control.

There is the auto lip sync and head movement compute functions in the desktop, but not the auto triggered arm movements - however, you could easily set up a single swap set of those and move between them. But I agree - anything that makes animation more accessible would be great to add!
So could you just export the character with a transparent background back into after effects if you wanted to just get the animation done quickly and then create a longer format video rather than what seems to be short social media type things
Well, as I show here you can't download with transparency yet. For bringing a character from Express into AE, I would recommend using a solid color background like bright green, downloading, and then keying it out in AE.
Great video! Do you know how to save text or copy and paste it? I’m using subtitles and want to use the same font with effects without having to go back and change it each time (very time consuming). Thanks 🙏

Hi Dave! i have been using character animator for years now and have consistently run into a problem with glitches when using dynamic link between adobe software's. Making me have to go into frame by frame cutting glitches out of the file! I was wondering if you have run into this issue before and if there's anything I can do about it? its happens like 7 or 8 times in a span on a 2 minute clip! I'd greatly appreciate your help and I have a short screen recording I can share with you as well showing what I mean.
Dynamic link can be glitchy sometimes unfortunately. If I run into that kind of stuff, eventually I say screw it and I export on a PNG sequence and WAV instead. More manual and harder to update, but it shouldn't glitch. I think dynamic link is just finicky, sometimes it decides to work and sometimes, for whatever reason, it makes my character invisible or upside down for several frames. The PNG sequence approach should be more reliable. If the problem persists, please let us know on the official forums at adobe.com/go/chfeedback so we can take a closer look.
Custom characters aren’t available for Express yet. You can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
You could record the audio in any multitrack audio editing program. You could do two separate single tracks but I'm not sure how easy it would be to get all the timing correct.
I'm using Mac OS & Safari and am having trouble downloading the finished project from Adobe Express. I tried 3 times and then it finally downloaded. On the next project, I'm still trying to get it downloaded. Any suggestions?.
Hmmm that seems like an Express bug, hopefully a temporary one. I guess I would wait a little and also try a different browser as well if possible? If it keeps up I would ask in the support community: community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-express/ct-p/ct-adobe-express
When I am uploading a audio to animate the character and the audio has some silence in between. So the audio is automatically trimmed down due to which the content in the audio after silence is not animated. How to fix it?
Interesting, I have not personally seen this automatic trimming in Animate from Audio - it should still respect any silence that you have and keep that as a silent gap. If the problem persists, please upload a video or screenshot of your issue to adobe.com/go/chfeedback and we'll try to help you out.
Custom characters aren’t available for Express yet. You can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
These characters aren't vector or editable, but the desktop version allows you to create any kind of vector character through importing an Illustrator (.ai) file.
@okaysamurai Thank you for your fast reply and the amazing content that you created with us. 🙏 ❤️ Makes sense now, was nice to make them move directly from the recording process maybe this feature will come soon, and will make the process much easier.

Thank you so much! @@okaysamurai I've put something on the official forums site.
Can this be used for commercial purposes?
Yep!
@@okaysamurai THANK YOU!
Can we use our own characters?
Not on the web version, but yes for the desktop version of Character Animator.
Totally AWESOME!!! Thanks!
hello Can I make my own character like this? And what do we need to do to move such characters, such as walking?
Yes, you can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: th-cam.com/video/hK-DjtiPzRs/w-d-xo.html
Honestly, I'd rather just get the mouth synch as a tool that was free (no extra character animation). And I'd like to use my audio file for it.
You can absolutely do this in the desktop version of Character Animator.
Is there a way of uploading my custom character and then animate?
No, only on the desktop app: th-cam.com/video/EDy2D8riDvY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TzCTxcDdvZTwRA_M
Can you also upload your own character and create animation ?
Custom characters aren’t available for Express yet. You can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
I can't seem to find this on the app. Is it currently only available through the website?
Yes, this is only for Express currently.
its only wotk with audition edition or its impossible make two and put together?
You could record the audio in any multitrack audio editing program. You could do two separate single tracks but I'm not sure how easy it would be to get all the timing correct.
@@okaysamurai can u make a video or one , because im tryng here to save but dont save in wav
You can use an Mp3, wav, or aif file for Animate from Audio.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try your suggestions! @@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai Chrome seems to have solved the problem. Hopefully, it will continue to do so. Again, thanks for the great tutorial and the help!
Terimakasih untuk tutorialnya.. Sangat membantu.. Salam dari indonesia🎉
When I am uploading a audio to animate the character and the audio has some silence in between. So the audio is automatically trimmed down due to which the content in the audio after silence is not animated. How to fix it?
And I am using Adobe express in browser.
Interesting, I have not personally seen this automatic trimming in Animate from Audio - it should still respect any silence that you have and keep that as a silent gap. If the problem persists, please upload a video or screenshot of your issue to adobe.com/go/chfeedback and we'll try to help you out.
Nailed It🎉🎉🎉
Unfortunately you can only work with preloaded characters and scenarios.
Correct, in the web tool. The desktop app lets you do whatever you want. www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
can we add our own character and use adobe express to do lip sync?
Custom characters aren’t available for Express yet. You can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
Thank you🎉
Yes thanks for this.
When I paste the character its uploading but not upload
May be a temporary bug - I have seen this sometimes too. Try again an hour later and see if it works.
Why I can’t find the transparent background?
It should be in the background tab like I show here - if not please let us know with a screenshot of what you see at adobe.com/go/chfeedback!
I need to customize the character, is it vector?
These characters aren't vector or editable, but the desktop version allows you to create any kind of vector character through importing an Illustrator (.ai) file.
Can you make the animate characters Jump or Walk?
Not on Express, but yes on the desktop app. th-cam.com/video/ZTevkEadskk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5_rhpmHr9kT_05GA
@okaysamurai Thank you for your fast reply and the amazing content that you created with us. 🙏 ❤️ Makes sense now, was nice to make them move directly from the recording process maybe this feature will come soon, and will make the process much easier.
Amazing
Hello Can you tell me, How do I make the logo shine on the character?
I would probably do that with motion tracking and an Add / Linear Dodge blend mode in After Effects.
What is the licensing for this? are you able to use this for advertising?
Completely free to use however you want.
thank you so much . this is awsome . still i can not so that much but its a game changer
Thank you
How do we get more characters for the program.
Animate from Audio has a preset amount of characters, but try Starter mode to be able to use any .puppet file. It's the second option here: th-cam.com/video/7C43tGq-30A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i_HxAo4_heIlihjw
Can a cartoon be shared with anyone, without having them create an Adobe account?
For the exported video - definitely. For the project itself - you would need to select "Open in Express" at the end, choose invite collaborators, and then share the link with full edit access, no Adobe ID required.
must install the application?
No, Animate from Audio is entirely web browser based.
Adobe Express is not working and very slowly downloading
Hopefully a temporary issue, although video files can get quite large.
How can I create a character of myself, or take an image of myself and use it over a rigged character
Right now you can only do that in the desktop version. Puppet Maker is probably your best bet: th-cam.com/video/JJ7ejWSw4eQ/w-d-xo.html
I wish I could edit/modify what they are wearing.
Custom characters aren’t available for Express, but you can make your own characters in the desktop version of Character Animator: www.adobe.com/products/character-animator.html
