I remember chickening out on this ride when I was 15, but went on it again at 17, 19, 20, and 21. Every time I see this ride I will regret the time I chickened out. Classic. :D
i went on 2007 and the name still was Earthquake, anyway its cool when everybody is screaming at first, then they laugh nerviously and then they're like if nothing happened... so calm hehe. twister is a good one too!
i was there in 2001 and the ride was closed..that was a bummer..so thanks 4 putting it on here so i can see it as well..not going back very soon...to far...lol
I remember going on this. The parts at the start showing how special effects worked was awesome. I remember a part where a guy from the audience "fell" down a destroyed elevator shaft or something .Then there was this part and it was going awesome until, 10 minutes later, we watching the ride reset and the lights come on. It was funny seeing a truck "reverse" up a destroyed road! I think the idea was you "just" survived it but sped out of the tunnel, maybe they added a guy because it was buggy.
"Disaster" is pretty good. The set up is you are an extra in a disaster movie. A few people from the audience are picked for special roles. They still do the earthquake thing at the end. Then they show you a trailer from the movie with shots of the audience spliced in. There's more to it than that, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
i just went on "disaster" the other day... this last earthquake scene is about the same, the parts before it were changed a bit but the basic idea is the same. it's a bit more interactive and it has a couple of big name stars in it now, a nice refreshing upgrade to the old ride.
Ive been going to Florida every year on august 6th since i was 4. I still go :) This was one of the best rides but i was scared shitless of Twister when i was 4 lol
you must be mistaken. this is Earthquake (now known as Disaster), and this wasn't replaced with King Kong (which actually closed in 2002), as for Kong burning down, that happened in the hollywood park. this is the Orlando theme park.
I went on this ride when I was younger. I got to be one of the dorky kids before the ride that got to pretend to be on a submarine to demonstrate how a green screen works, it was so much fun! though I'm not sure how my dad's arm stayed attached during the ride.I recall clinging to him for dear life when the truck came down because the my jerk of a father decided it would be funny to stick me on the outside of the car even though the attendant wanted me on the inside cause I was so small -_-;
@DISA1998 yeah it's still there. but now it's kinda like a tour first. like they show you how they make special effects and get people from the audience to do stuff in front of a green screen and then they put you on the ride. then at the end they put it all together and it looks like a movie preview. it's called disaster now.
is this ride still in the park? if it is i want to go on it it seems cool to see how it feels to be in a earthquake under ground without any real danger.
I rode this ride back in 1995 when I was 10years old. It freaked me out. The part when the water comes out was the worst part for me. It is pretty cool though.
I rode this on my first trip to Universal. If I recall correctly, there was a chunk of asphalt that 'fell' and revealed a red sedan? I could be wrong, but that freaked me out, mostly because I could've sworn I'd seen a skeleton in that car. If I even saw the car... But yeah, pretty sure I went that same year and month... I'd have to ask my mom though, she's more likely to remember.
@EvilTrovis Yea you can tell earthquake was replaced by this because there is a restaurant right out side called Richter's Burgers...like a Richter scale
i loved this ride i didnt remember it somehow but now i remember the whole thing. my parents had to drag me on lol but now that i remember it im surprised i was scared :)
yes i think this is the studio tour we had the fast pass tickets and were put up the front of the train and i could not see a thing so if you are getting on this ride go into the middle. i think you go passed the lake with jaws in it and my sister till this day thinks jaws was broke cause she missed it.
Haven't been on this ride because I thought it would be clausterphobic but now I wish I had gone on it. It doesn't seem too cramped and looks pretty fun.
@TheAries11 It got replaced by Disaster. Disaster took the Earthquake concept and replaced the theming to put guests in a movie trailer, and it "films" you on the earthquake sequence.
did they replace this ride with king kong then replace king kong with the mummy (and for the record i know king kong was replaced by mummy and burned down)
i remember the backlot fire i think a couple years ago that destroyed the classic king kong (i cried that its gone ) bit of the studio tour at Universal Studios Hollywood...it was sad cause history was now in ashes! same with some other studios/sets destroyed...but i was freaking out cause i was hoping this part would be safe from the fire!!
@DisneyMissieMouse Its kind of good that it was destroyed because now theyre making a new king kong ride but its in 3D and its going to shake rumble etc.
The truck was amazing!!!! I used to love this ride as a kid, and still do to this day. Now Universal made a movie ride out of this, and I really don;t like it.
i went on this ride two weeks ago, they change the name and add some hollywood effects to make an action movie it was AMAZING by the way the ride is now called DISASTER!
@RoozzCreation The mummy ride was King Kong. I remember the first time I went there I went on both rides. Then the second time I was there King Kong was gone, The Mummy was there and Earthquake was still there
@heavensentkm8 No, this is Earthquake. Earthquake later got replaced by Disaster, which reused the earthquake scene. However, this video is older and at the time the ride would have still been Earthquake. Besides, if it was Disaster, it would be "filming".
When I first went on it, my parents never told me it was called Earthquake. I thought it was just a subway that transports you to the other side of the park or something. So when the ride started breaking down, I thought it was a REAL earthquake. Then they told me it was just the ride and I was mad at my parents lol.
Oh my God, thank you for the memories, I remember going on this ride back in the day, when I was about 12, loved it, man I miss my childhood! :(
man how much i miss these rides is incredible. my childhood...:(
it is truly amazing that all of this resets in under 10 seconds. just the technology amazes me. it's fascinating!
I remember chickening out on this ride when I was 15, but went on it again at 17, 19, 20, and 21. Every time I see this ride I will regret the time I chickened out. Classic. :D
omg i LOVE that ride! like when the roof cracked and all the cars slid down and the train was gonna run into us! it was so AWESOME!!!!
I miss this Fantastic Ride, truly smashing 😁😃😁😃😁
i went on 2007 and the name still was Earthquake, anyway its cool when everybody is screaming at first, then they laugh nerviously and then they're like if nothing happened... so calm hehe. twister is a good one too!

Hi Holly! Thanks for taking the time to view. I'll be uploading more soon. Take care!
aww i miss this ride:( i havent been to Universal in forever! i like this one and jaws
Very! Especially if you are seated along the outside of the car! Thanks for watching!
I went on that ride like 4 years ago! Total awesomeness
my dad told me about this ride when i was a kid, thought id check it out! looks amazing
I would totally cry my eyes on on this ride, especially the water part. It's like my nightmare come to life.
I remember going on this. The parts at the start showing how special effects worked was awesome. ha I remember this like it was yesterday, haven't been there since I was like 6 but it was fun. I wana go back :)
i remeber goin on this the 1st time i was 6 yeers old n all these litle kids wer screemin n cryin n i was sat ther lafin XD luv this ride
Been orlando twice, their theme parks are amazing.
you must be mistaken. this is Earthquake (now known as Disaster), and this wasn't replaced with King Kong (which actually closed in 2002), as for Kong burning down, that happened in the hollywood park. this is the Orlando theme park.
i loved this ride, its truely amazing, so much fun.
I love all the rides there i live like 5 min down the rode from U S we r there every other week!!
I got so claustraphobic on the ride. I didn't realize it would be so realistic !! It was an experience to remember.
omg i so remember this! wish i can go back there again..
i was tinking that too!!! also they need to make an interactive Halo park. that wud be beast!
OMG that was 1 of my fave rides in Universal studios florida!! Did u go on the one with da Tornado? Loved that one 2!!
I live in NY, so I never really understood why it would flood during an Earthquake, but I still liked the ride :)
@kshikie98 they have trenches beside the area where you can drive the bus, so the water just stays down there.
This was the only ride i remembered from the first time I went there
this ride never gets old
I went last year and this was my favourite ride!!!
:)
you need faultlines or volcanoes to have earhquakes, and quakes are released from the preassure within or deep under a faultline, mountain range, etc.
I went on this ride when I was younger. I got to be one of the dorky kids before the ride that got to pretend to be on a submarine to demonstrate how a green screen works, it was so much fun! though I'm not sure how my dad's arm stayed attached during the ride.I recall clinging to him for dear life when the truck came down because the my jerk of a father decided it would be funny to stick me on the outside of the car even though the attendant wanted me on the inside cause I was so small -_-;

I'm 11 and I've been going on this since I was 6 and I love this part of the tour!
Its the best part there!
Why are you all so freakin scared!
I LOVED THAT RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!
this was my favorite part of the tour. :D
my friend jumped on me when we rode this ride during our chorus trip lol . it was sooo funny .
this ride looks scary! :s were you scared? or even startled?
does it matter which side you sit on when the water comes? i don't want to get wet much if i go on this in Jan.
is this ride still in the park? if it is i want to go on it it seems cool to see how it feels to be in a earthquake under ground without any real danger.

@EvilTrovis Yea you can tell earthquake was replaced by this because there is a restaurant right out side called Richter's Burgers...like a Richter scale
I went on this ride.... I loved it!
I've been to the Back Lot Tram Tours in California, I remember being very frightened thinking that it was the real deal earthquake.
in my opinion this is the best ride at universal!
OMG I loved this ride. I used to almost shit my pants at that fiery truck part! XD
I whent last year ( 2008 ) and whent on this, its such a great ride!
Hey quick question: Is this ride still there? Ha I'm going in like a week and I wanna know because this is great! lol :P
By far the best ride at Universal
i loved this ride i didnt remember it somehow but now i remember the whole thing. my parents had to drag me on lol but now that i remember it im surprised i was scared :)
I was so scared on this ride when I was little. I was litterally crying. I was like maybe eight years old at the time.
@TheAnivette thanks, :). is it still open, or replaced??????
So, do you get soaked on that ride, or is it more like the Backlot tour canyon scene at MGM?
OMG i loved this ride!! just before the earthquake happened i looked at my waterbottle and it was jumping it's was so cool
yes i think this is the studio tour we had the fast pass tickets and were put up the front of the train and i could not see a thing so if you are getting on this ride go into the middle. i think you go passed the lake with jaws in it and my sister till this day thinks jaws was broke cause she missed it.
This looks a whole lot better than what they have here in California. The one they have is about 2 minutes and is part of the Backlot tour ride.
like twister, this ride would make me cry cause it's so sad to see everything destroyed, and it's happening in the world right now.
Haven't been on this ride because I thought it would be clausterphobic but now I wish I had gone on it. It doesn't seem too cramped and looks pretty fun.
today is 9-4-2010. is this ride still at universal? it looks cool.
this makes me really sad..i had to move to California. Im really gonna miss this ride and the whole park. The on in hollywood doesnt even compare
ive been on this ride it was awesome :) i remember a woman about my parents age screaming her head off when i was just looking around
Hahaha!! When I was little a few years ago I wasn't sure if this was real so i'd close my eyes and almost cry lol
woah how did that big trick get in there? does the floor fall?
@TheAries11 It got replaced by Disaster. Disaster took the Earthquake concept and replaced the theming to put guests in a movie trailer, and it "films" you on the earthquake sequence.
I went on this in '92 and i'm full sure that at the end someone shouted "cut" and they made out you were just part of a movie.
@tizas06 It was changed to Disaster! in 2008, and this was taken in 2006, when it was still Earthquake.
that ride is so awesome.
this ride was excellent. the jaws ride and many more there at universal studios at orlando florida
did they replace this ride with king kong then replace king kong with the mummy
(and for the record i know king kong was replaced by mummy and burned down)
Yes, my sister lives near Orlando and she tells me that this ride is closing and another attraction will be put in its place.
i was 6 when i first went on this, and it scared the hell out of me
i remember the backlot fire i think a couple years ago that destroyed the classic king kong (i cried that its gone ) bit of the studio tour at Universal Studios Hollywood...it was sad cause history was now in ashes! same with some other studios/sets destroyed...but i was freaking out cause i was hoping this part would be safe from the fire!!
I been on this ride & It's so much fun!
Since when do jets of fire spurt out of holes in the ground during an earthquake?
@DisneyMissieMouse Its kind of good that it was destroyed because now theyre making a new king kong ride but its in 3D and its going to shake rumble etc.
They have something very similar to this in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It even has the same name.
god i luv this ride especially the water part lol tommorow im going to orlando =) i live in boca raton ugg 3-4 hour drive
I cries on this ride. It scared the snot outta me.
Is the earthquake like really strong because I wanna know if my 5 year old cousin can come in with me in our trip in December :]
This ride is sooo awsome!
The ride is included in the park admission. Price to get into the park was around $70.00 US.
no it was replaced with a new ride disaster studios. but it still has the same part of the subway.
This Ride is very well its so cool ive been on it
Best bit for me was the falling truck crashing through the roof.
The truck was amazing!!!! I used to love this ride as a kid, and still do to this day. Now Universal made a movie ride out of this, and I really don;t like it.
i went on this ride two weeks ago, they change the name and add some hollywood effects to make an action movie it was AMAZING
by the way the ride is now called DISASTER!
In florida is this a ride by its self and not part of a tram ride. Just wondering.
I went on when i was 3 and i freaked out, had nightmares for a year.
its the same game but now you are doing a kind of movie and you interpret the actors:D

I remember going on this ride when I was 11 now and I am 31 and it has not changed a bit
i went on this ride when i was 4 and i screamed and cryed like crazy
Isn't this called Diaster? Jw. Cause I am going there this weekend :3
Is this the exact same thing that's in the Universal Hollywood backlot tour?
