In this segment from B&H's "Wedding Event of the Season" seminar, recorded live at the New Yorker hotel, Mel DiGiacomo shares pearls of wisdom he's gathered during a decades-long career as a photographer. Using primarily wide-angle lenses and getting up close & personal with his subjects, Mel shoots weddings with a photojournalistic style that borrows from his street photography and his work covering sports.

From the moment that Mel said "If I can figure out how to work this damn thing", I knew this was going to be good. He loves what he does and that shows in each and every photograph, which in turn has made me love photography even more! Thank you Mel and B&H!

Mr DiGiacomo is obviously a very creative guy with a fascinating new angle on wedding photography. You don't have to love it 100% but he has some great ideas and a new paradigm to think about. What I don't understand is why people would post negative comments. He's not trying to sell you anything, just show you some new ideas. Enjoy!

    Melchior, another fabulous job.
For those of you who don't know, Mel has an amazing background. He is one of the finest sports photographers in the world, a great street shooter, and he has taken everything he learned and put into weddings.
    Great Job

I'm not sure why people feel the need to post nasty comments regarding the videos that are provided by B&H for "free". If the presenter's style or subject matter doesn't resonate with you then why not just keep clicking until you find one that does. To expect that every video is going to appeal to you personally is extremely selfish but especially so when considering it cost you nothing to watch. I'm grateful to B&H for providing this and all the other great videos that I have watched thus far. They have been very educational and often entertaining. In regards to Mr DiGiacomo; personally I think he is one of the best presenters that I have seen to date and a he's great photographer as well. I've viewed the video where he discusses street photography several times and I have always come away with something new to think about. I look forward to seeing more videos by Mel.

Some very useful tips in this presentation. Not all of his shots were my 'cup of tea' but there were some that I liked a lot. Thank you Mel for the insight in to how you work, very much appreciated. To those that criticise, try and show some respect.

I enjoyed watching this video very much. It reminded me about the power of black and white photography.

    Thanks that was really interesting.
Do you shoot in camera black and white or do you convert in post?

Mel shoots in color and processes most images in black and white. Thanks for your inquiry!

The lighting in most of his photos doesn't "just happen".... he should of gone over how he did that a little better.

What's with the blur in all the shots? Are they all flashed with slow sync speeds? His philosophy is not bad but I'm not a fan of the photos.

This man is a great sales person, but in my humble opinion the pictures are some of the most sad I ever seen. Caravaggio is turning himself in the grave...

I am still not sure what this video is about. Maybe I'm slow, but this guy, with his comments on religion, different languages, who needs it? Too bad, B&H generally has good has good people! Not this time!
