    In this episode of Huang's World, Eddie heads back to Taiwan to get heavy into the heavy metal scene - face paint, screaming lessons, and furry pink pillows. Along the way, Eddie makes a quick pitstop to taste Taiwan's famous "little snacks" in Gongguan-all before debating the pros and cons of Taiwanese independence over a home-cooked meal with local metal group CHTHONIC.

    And I'm not sure Eddie realizes that by "trading masters" he's comparing being *allied* with the USA vs. being *ruled* by Communist China. American foreign policy not withstanding; there is a HUGE difference between the 2.

    I like this one. I'm pretty new to MUNCHIES so haven't seen the old stuff. It's often so, so fun to dress up for music and go nuts with it when young. Pig blood is very popular in France, and locally, I can buy a big bottle of it fresh and in this household, we like black boudin, blood sausages, either bland or Créole, spicy. Almost everyone who eats pork will eat those and if they don't know what they are, I don't tell 'em. I'm sure I would have been glad to at least try all the foods shown here. That goopy soup with oysters and stuff looked really fine. Uprated.

Ciao!

      I wish to add I just checked the "translation" of my French and it isn't very good. I say that Paris is EXPENSIVE and that Seine-Saint-Denis can be okay to live in, but to apply for citizenship is hell in it, because it is the most populous département in all the Paris/Great Paris region, and you have to apply in the region in which you are domiciled. I started in Val de Marne département but moved to Seine-Saint-Denis and they lied and refused to transfer my dossier so I had to start all over again and pay all over again for certified translations and everything. I do not recommend entering France as a student hoping to work enough to live on or stay very long. I've never seen it really work out, or it was hell. I do encourage people to apply for work visas for a year at a time, because they are tedious and do cost something but then you do not have to worry, you can be here legally and no hassle, you can work, it is authorized. You might like "La Petite Couronne," which is all the near-suburbs and towns of Paris and usually has fairly good access to Paris via public transportation. Ivry-sur-Seine is hugely Asiatic, too. They are connected by tramway now, it's great, and the buses here are fantastic. I am totally used to them. You don't have to live right in Paris to enjoy it. I could actually walk into Paris were I in better health, from my apartment in Saint-Denis. They say the suburbs are nasty, but it depends, and I know three nasty areas of Paris I won't even drive through! So, there you go. Good luck!

    It's true Eddie Huang could have done a little more homework on Taiwanese history before going into this show, but truthfully that's not really his style, I think his philosophy is, at this stage of the game, just the fact that people are talking about Taiwanese history or the status of Taiwan as a country is already a step in the right direction. Freddie Lin was a fantastically graceful and sensitive host and a true display of taiwanese hospitality, cheers~

      Taiwanese independence is a myth. Just like Eddie said, even if it were to completely sever from China, it would need to maintain that independence by sucking up to the US or Japan, which would become Taiwan's new masters. In a certain way, it's already the case right now. Taiwan harmed itself a lot for the interests of US foreign policy, and the US is treating the island like a pawn geopolitically.

    In a globalized world right now, every country is connected somehow. From the sense of Taiwan being independent on its own, theoretically yes since there are four elements of forming a country: land, people, government, and the most important thing for Taiwan, sovereignty. Taiwan's got all of them, but the thing is China pressure other countries to not acknowledge Taiwan's sovereignty, so Taiwan is having a hard time joining other international organizations and regional economic integrations as a nation. However, there are some countries who accept that Taiwan's a country without China's approval. Do Taiwan need other's help for being a country? Taiwan already is.

    you need to tell me why taiwan should be the part of china not the part of world ?

    • @KrazeDiamond
      @KrazeDiamond 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Taiwan being a part of the Mainland =/= belonging to the Communist Government of China, there is a difference and one must be able to separate the two, otherwise your thinking pattern will be stuck in an endless loop and you'll never be able to reason anymore from that point forward.
      Taiwan has long been practically independent since the Japanese retreated, and self-governed under the ID of The Republic of China. "China" is in it because before the Communist Party took over the Mainland there was only one China and Taiwan was a province of the Republic of China.
      If Taiwan wants the attention, recognition and respect from the rest of the world they must earn it. The people and the government of Taiwan have to work together to strengthen itself as a self-governing Free State in all aspects. If you study Japan and South Korea then you should understand what needs to be done. Their people are all in unity and embrace their own background and ethnicity with pride, confidence and respect, that's how they're able to work with their governments to work together to strengthen their own countries. And what has the people in Taiwan been doing exactly? Playing dissention and separation for decades and have led to Taiwan's economy to lag behind many other countries in Asia.
      Taiwan lacks unity, it runs in the blood of all Chinese people as whole. There is no such thing as Taiwanese, it seriously sounds very retarded and silly. Taiwan must shift from dwelling on a technicality to bringing it back on track and focus on strengthening itself and establish/expand its influences on and connections with the rest of the world. Currently the people that keep emphasizing on Taiwan's independence and addressing themselves as "Taiwanese" are caught with SPS (Small Penis Syndrom). Stop playing the victims already.
