    Susanne is probably Royksopp's most go-to vocalist. They collaborate several times on Profound Mysteries and she is my favourite.

    Proper Norwegian synth wizardry there from Svein and Torbjørn, and Susanne is brilliant as always! Röyksopp often work with several excellent guest vocalists on their albums. They have a new album trilogy called "Profound Mysteries" out now. Well, two parts are out so far with the third one being released in November I believe. Susanne Sundfør is featured on no less than five songs throughout the trilogy. I mentioned in a previous comment that they also performed a cover of Depeche Mode's "Ice Machine" at this very show. I do hope that will spark your curiosity enough to do a reaction to it. I'll just shamelessly pop a link to it right here: th-cam.com/video/hFPlGDKgiYc/w-d-xo.html

    This song is about the 2011 terror attack on Utøya. A white supremacist named Anders Breivik planted a bomb in central Oslo, killing 8, to lure police away from an island outside the city called Utøya where a youth camp for young social democrats was taking place. He went there dressed as a police officer, and proceeded to kill 69 people, mostly children. All in all he killed 77 people, and injured 209..
    The children ran to the beach, some survived by pretending to be dead in the sand. Others ran to the sea.
    For a country with a population bellow 5 million at the time, this was a national tragedy unlike anything in recent memory. A very large portion of Norway lost someone, or knew someone who who did.
    In his 1,518 page manifesto, he claimed to be a knight templar fighting against 'political correctness', the Frankfurt school, and cultural Marxism, antisemitic conspiracy theories claiming jewish influence is erasing the white race, rhetoric now being brought into the mainstream by figureheads like Jordan Peterson.
    It should serve as a grim reminder of where such beliefs ultimately lead. But the world seems all too keen to forget.

    Tell Him, Never Ever, Ice Machine(Depeche Mode cover), Oh lover, If You Want Me, The Mourning Sun, are all Royksopp/Susanne Sundfør collaborations, and they are all awesome. My favorites are Oh Lover(the synth in this one is just CRAZY), Running To The Sea and Tell Him, they are otherwordly. Royksopp forever!

    It’s been a while my friend. I changed my happy face thumb nail. Been busy but I will have to do some catching up on your videos. You once said I was getting up there as one of your favorites. I usually comment on everything lol. Just been super busy.
    Her voice was angelic. It’s not music I would normally grab but I really liked this. It was kind of soothing but with energy. One of the reasons why I subscribed is your enthusiasm in what you do. It’s easy to see when someone is putting on a smile but you wear yours. It’s genuine. You’re viewers can tell when or how much you like something by how you express yourself. Great song request! I know I can come here to listen to something that’s going to be good!

    I'm always torn on this. I wish the sound mixing brought her voice a little more forward. But I also know I I can't begin to know enough to tell Royksopp how to mix sound, lol. But honestly, I think the studio version is worth a listen. It really showcases Susanne's fantastic voice. The official video is a real emotional ride as well.

    It seems very important to know the meaning of any good song. To me the reference to river means a mind that has achieved second sight. The sea is the Stargate it looks like a pool of water. The earth is burning the only escape is this portal some say it goes to the moon but it goes anywhere in the universe. Traveling without moving. It seems most song writers are not aware of the meaning of their songs because they were channeling though they were not aware of it at the time. It would be nice if you could did song interpretation videos

    I almost feel ashamed for suggesting another female Norwegian singer/songwriter, but there are so many. Ina Wroldsen has been writing many songs for other artist (Shakira is one). She has a very good voice, and a good song she does herself is "Sea" th-cam.com/video/2nEUFf8CqAs/w-d-xo.html

      @@StrateleStudios Yes, it's a great song. Hilde mentioned that Ina has written/cowritten for Shakira, I counted 38 more artists/groups with like 80 songs. How deep is your love for Calvin Harris might be well known. She also had her own group or duo from 2011 to 2014 with some 13-14 more songs.

    LOve you exploring new artists. Røyksopp are relatively new to me too. You might like to watch the official video for this song for your own pleasure - they asked for contributions for it and chose this one among 200 - th-cam.com/video/eaGpdhienMk/w-d-xo.html .
    Though pleasure might be a wrong word - the lyrics reflects the Utøya massacre in 2011 where 67 young teens were killed and many more injured by one right-wing madman. But the video is beautyful, if sad.

    I DO like the sound produced by this band, Jeff. But I don't like it enough to actually save. I like LIVE music on a stage with LIVE drummers, guitarists, bassists, percussionists and keyboardists. In my mind there's no other way to get the LIVE experience.

    • @StrateleStudios
      @StrateleStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People experience music differently. For some people virtuosity on a instrument falls flat and for others it’s everything. In a context like this I believe the listener is absorbed in the music in a different way. I can’t say one way of listening to music is better than another but I will say however anyone is moved by music is very special. 🫶
