      Can we not just put the SS hose in the bottle and let the pumps in the fridge pull it? Also just a normal dude.. 👊👏🙌 we replaced the water inlet valve assembly and it tastes like plastic processing oils (nineties kids know..) So at least its not mold. Filters new. Ive cycled a few gallons through it by now. The silver lining is my better half cant taste or smell right now so I came hunting for a solution. If its got a pump Im assuming it will work. The siphon seems great if the fridge doesnt have a pump. Thanks for making a YT debut. Litetally only video on here about this.👊👏🙌

    Just a tip for everyone else I tried the baby syringe method and my line wouldnt take. It was completely unnecessary. You can just run the hose into the vinegar jug and push the water dispenser to get it to pull the vinegar. Also my fridge will not pump water unless the filter is plugged in so I had to plug it in to do this. I couldnt get the vinegar flavor out of the water when rinsing so I trashed the filter (it was due anyway) and put a new filter in. Water tastes so clean now Im not sure it ever tasted so fresh.

      Your fridge model doesn’t come w/ or the manufacturer doesn’t offer a blank filter (a stop gap if the charcoal filter is removed for extended period of time )? Call the manufacturer’s customer service department and most likely they will send you a free one. Otherwise check Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Amazon. I know they carry blanks fridge that takes RPWFE style filters.

    Thank you so much for this video. The first time watching it I missed the fact that I have to detach the water line from where it’s coming out of my wall after turning it off of course. But once I figured that out I put the vinegar on a flat container actually sitting on top of my refrigerator. I have a cabinet above my refrigerator like you do in your video, but my water line was not long enough for me to sit my bottle of vinegar in that cabinet so I put it on top of about a one and a half inch tall dish and it worked like a charm. The only thing I noticed while depressing the water lever is that I kept getting clean water which I expected it to be clean but since I noticed the level of the vinegar going down in my vinegar bottle I knew vinegar had to be in my water line. But my water never tasted like vinegar. So I had to take out my water filter and that did the trick. When I took out my water filter, the water tasted like vinegar so then I knew that it was all the way to the end of my water line. So I decided to let it sit for about an hour and I just set a timer to come and check on it. Next I’ll detach everything, reattach the water to the water coming out of the wall and turn it all back on. Then all I need to do is flush out the vinegar and put in a new filter and then I’ll be set. So thanks for the video.

    Thanks for posting this. Recently the county mowers were out mowing along the highway and hit the main water line. After the line was repaired, and the water pressure was restored, my fridge water dispenser quit working due to all the sediment build up that was knocked loose and got trapped in my filtration system on my fridge. I thought the filter was just clogged, so I bought a new one. It got clogged within a minute of install. I pulled the line off from the back and ran the water into a bucket (from the spigot) and so much white floaty junk was in the water. I imagine a lot of this stuff is what clogged my line in the fridge. Gonna try your method and see if it clears up.

    Just got done trying this out. We have a Maytag double door with drawer freezer model. The water intake is at the bottom so we weren’t able to get the suction going. Used the baby syringe to put about a half a liter in and ran it through until it was dispensing then vinegar from the water spout. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Hooked the water back up and dispensed about a cup and let it sit for another 15 to ensure the vinegar was all the way through the system. Let sit for 15 min. We didn’t notice any particles coming out, but the pressure might be a smidge better. Had to run over 10 liters of water through the fridge to get rid of the vinegar taste in the water though.

    You may have a pamphlet buried away somewhere on your fridge or you can look it up on the internet, but your fridge may support a code to fill and/or dump the ice maker. Just put something in the ice maker to catch the vinegar and you can quickly run a few cycles - then when the water line is back in repeat with water.

    Another solution is to take a new fridge water filter, fill it with white vinegar, install it, and run water pressure just until the vinegar runs into a glass. Let this sit for half hour. Now run a couple gallons thru the system until the smell/funk is gone. Also empty ice bin and clean with a vinegar solution. Taste the water and it should taste fresh and clean. This does not clean the water line from the wall to the filter as in this video, but usually the odor is bacteria in the filter and/or the water reservoir and lines feeding the ice maker and water dispenser.

    This didn’t work for me, but gave me the idea to fill a 25’ line with vinegar and attach it between the fridge line and the line from the wall with Sharkbite connectors. I let enough water out of the dispenser until it was only vinegar in the fridge, and let it soak. Cleared up the water taste issue I was having, with a total cost of less than $15.

      @@makenziesmith2166 good to know. The higher you put the vinegar and the more vinegar in the jug (as long as the tip of the hose is at the bottom) the more pressure there will be in the line. I initially could not "inject" the vinegar with the syringe. If anyone else runs into this problem, it turns out that my GE needs to have a V-shaped plastic piece inserted (which is included with the refrig) into the filter holder in order for the filter to be bypassed. If you insert this piece, it bypasses the filter connection and the gravity feed from the vinegar bottle will work.At least this worked for me.

    damnn and I was wondering why our fridge water tasted nasty after having it for a year constantly changing filters with no problem ... we got a new filter thinking the taste would go back to normal but it stayed the same and I think it’s because after moving the waterline got filthy particles in it maybe from the water source it was connected to in the wall. Gonna try this to see if it helps

    i have one modification to this: we didn't have the medicine syringe thing... and that sounded really tedious. i actually just hooked the water line up to the wall, let it fill with water. then i turned off the valve, unscrewed the line from the wall and put my thumb on the end, so the whole line was filled. then i put the end of the line into the vinegar container. i let the water dispenser until vinegar started coming out; then i knew the lines were filled, and then i let it sit.

    How did you get the vinegar to flow without the filter? Doesn’t that break the connection to the dispenser in the door? When I remove my filter no water comes out the door dispenser. Is there a trick I missed? Thanks for any advice from anyone.

    • @colewarner

    Don't you NEED the refrigerator's water filter in-place in order to have water flow thru the system? I would think without a filter in-place, the water wouldn't continue thru the system, or the water would come out of the water filter spout inside the refrigerator. Hmmm Edit: I just read some of the comments. Some people need to place some type of plastic piece in place of the filter (after the filter is removed) in order to have water flow without the filter being in-position...That's kinda what I was thinkning...Without filter, water won't flow completely, but I guess there's a solution. Thanks Cole for being so involved, and helping everyone out!

    • @colewarner
      @colewarner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a problem brother. It just depends on the fridge as you probably saw. Some divert the water by itself, and some require an adapter

  • @shleefrank8551
    @shleefrank8551 ปีที่แล้ว

    I cannot seem to get this to work. If the syringe is too big to fit over the water line opening is that my problem? I mean there is a little bit of vinegar getting in there but not all.

    • @colewarner
      @colewarner  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can keep the water line full of water when you disconnect from the fridge, then you can put it directly in the vinegar without filling it up more
