I've been telling people to go with this engine left and right. It gives you so much of the benefits of truck power with enough fuel economy to be satisfying, and it feels really refined. Awesome review! Great all around truck 👍🏻
BEST TH-camR EVEEEEEEEEER you know why I’m here 🤣 Chris is so amazing and speak so well that even if he review a dead leaf it would worth watch! I still here Chris! With the same comment because You ROCK!
@@JulezWinnfield I appreciate your comment J High, and while some of these commenters can be straight jerks, I didn't take roow420's that way at all. I saw it as him complimenting me on being able to talk about (or review) something as basic as a leaf (and not the car, either) and making it interesting. Now, if and when that's not the case, let's rally the troops and shut it down. But I don't believe that is what this comment was doing. Thanks for having my back, tho. You da man! 💪🏾
@@AutoAcademics Auto reviewers of other "complexions" never seem to get complimented on their ability to articulate in a public forum. It reminds of the old Chris Rock bit about Colin Powell being told he speaks so well....."How the heck did you expect him to speak.....lol?"
@@JulezWinnfield Totally agree. And have run into my fair share of comments that shouldn't be defended or explained. Thank you, J High, for staying on top of these issues that we deal with every day. It's a nice feeling to know you're not fighting this battle alone.
Good looking truck. I particularly like the black Chevy logo and that blue color. Still that interior is shamed by RAM interiors. What is wrong with GM? That interior is so plasticky. Great review as always.
Just bought this exact same truck in June in Nightsky Blue , best mileage so far 34.1 miles to the gallon on the DIC. Traded my 2020 Tundra for this, average 17 miles to the gallon YUK. I will never not have a diesel truck way more bang for the buck!!!
For the most part, this little diesel was quiet, Triple R Camping Resort. You only hear it if you're standing directly next to it or under hard acceleration. It's totally quiet while cruising. Thanks for watching!
Your reviews, salespersons can learn from. That truck is impressive @ that price point, not enough to move me from my 6.2 that tows 12500 BIC for 2017, returning 25mpg & I probably won't miss the two extra gears. Waiting for new interiors.
Any insights on this diesel engine’s longevity? I would want a diesel because they historically will get multiple 100k miles of life in them. Want to know if the same is true for this.
It's crazy how these trucks are separated by knobs, seat coverings and stereos now, J High. They're all really good and come down to personal preference, well, with the exception of the standard tailgate on this model. But the optional one is possibly the best on the market right now. I'm just glad that we have the choice to be so critical of them now. You can literally pick a camp (Ford, Chevy, RAM, etc) a make an argument for any of them. We appreciate you, J High!
Diesel is 15% more expensive than gas. 24 mpg on diesel is the same as 20 mpg on regular gas, cost wise. That's the same as the v8 options in the Silverado
😂 Nope. Really hard to find those in vehicles now. I like my CDs, too, but you have to download them on your phone and listen that way now. Thanks for watching!
Sadly, the optional diesel doesn't come cheap, Winter Phoenix. So you gotta pay more for better suspension. The RST package includes the stuff most people need, though. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics actually, my 2021 RST ZR1 with 5.3, equipped pretty much the same, was around the same MSRP. But it also has a sunroof. So it seems like the ZR1 package with a sunroof and parking sensors is around the same price as the diesel upgrade. That being said, 22 mpg vs my 15 mpg average ( I blame it on all the hills around here) is something.
@@winterphoenix09 Ok. Good to know. After checking, the 3.0L Turbo Diesel is $2400 on this truck. It's not cheap, but it's WAY cheaper than the 6.6L Duramax in the 2500 we reviewed. That one was almost 10-grand. 😳
@@AutoAcademics I was looking at the 6.2 when I was shopping last December. The price didnt scare me, but there just were not many out there equipped the way I wanted. And the fact it was demanding premium fuel was turning me off as well. I did try a Trail Boss, but I really wasn’t a fan of the feel of the ten speed, and my wife hated the extra two inches of height when trying to get in the thing. One thing I didnt care for on any of them was the spongy gas pedal, throttle response was wonky. I bought the RST anyway, and after some research, threw in a Banks power monster throttle upgrade, made a huge difference.
Recent road trip with this truck while driving the speed limit (55 to 70) I got 30.9 MPG making it a great all around Truck.
Even tho the interior is outdated I still think this is the best looking truck outta the full size pick ups
Thanks for watching, Miguel Ircontar!

Good job on the video! Very thorough and informative! I absolutely love my Silverado!

The best review I’ve seen for this truck. I like your style. Subscribed.

I just ordered a Trail Boss with the 3.0l hope I get lucky with a good one
Love how light the front feels when driving the smaller engine trucks. Like the 2.7 gas

So 142 less HP for a $1400 savings over the 6.2? And more expensive to maintain.
Remarkably quiet engine, but I get the brave-heart 6.2 V8.
The 6.2L is a beast, but we were pleasantly surprised by this little diesel.
Great review! Going to talk to my dealer tomorrow!
Nice truck. Great review as usual.

This truck is nice but it still seems a few steps behind the new F-150 and Ram 1500 pickups.

Does the 3.0l diesel have the 2 speed transfer case option?
I’ve looked at it yesterday it says 9700lbs towing capacity
You sure its a 2021? Mine has dual rear rectangle exhaust otherwise identical including the options
Yup. Enjoy your truck and thanks for watching, RS Stahl!

Our Audi Q7 3.0L diesel averages 25mpg around town and over 35mpg on the highway. It's got 268hp and 443lbs ft of torque.
