  • This video is about a DIY 3D printer that I've made from a few old inkjet printers and one scanner.

    This is super cool! I've always loved seeing people make printers using non-printed components, and this is no exception. Well done!

    Well done building your own 3d printer. There aren't many people out there who could pull this off. Most wouldn't even look at videos like this, others want printers fully assembled, some are like me who just want to get something they can put together for their first printer because they are impatient.. and then there are awesome people like you who have pioneered this technology.

    Looks good! Nice use of old printers and scanner. We just got the parts in and all the old scanners and printers. This video is a good reference and encouraging.

      Thank you! Unfortunately I can't show you how I built it right now. It was almost 4 years ago and since then I printed plastic parts on that printer and build a Prusa MK2.5 printer clone th-cam.com/video/MzduN3RbeYI/w-d-xo.html.
      I had no space for two 3d printers and had to disassemble this one. This machine is significantly slower than my Prusa clone but was fun to built.
      Programming was not hard at all and well documented. I used marlin firmware marlinfw.org/
      Basically I just changed a few lines in the firmware (which pins I've used for endstops, termistors etc.) and that's it.

    Hey man, i love your project and I have three old printers laying around can I convert all three of them into 3d printers or do i need two to make one of these gorgeous machines

    • @electronpath
      @electronpath  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thank you! Probably you will need all three printers to make one 3d printer. Some parts will be good, and some won't be suitable for this application. For example, the motors from old printers could be rated for 24 or 36 volts and could overheat if running from a 12 volt control board. Or you could run those motors from a 12 volt control board and limit the current on the driver but the torque of the motor will be small.
      It all depends on what parts are inside of those printers.

    Hello I am trying to make a 3d printer Arduino codes as a link can you throw the bide screen I did not use the bide screen I could not afford it so I use repetier what are you using I would be very happy if you help I have quite a lot of problems and my English sucks

    • @electronpath

      Hello, I used Repetier at first. Could be problematic if the PC crashes then the print crashes too. I would still recommend getting a display even smaller one.

      @@electronpath So can you throw away the link to the Arduino code?

    • @electronpath
      @electronpath  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most of the process is quite simple:
      For Repetier you have to flash their firmware to Arduino:
      www.repetier.com/documentation/repetier-firmware/
      And then install Repetier Host on your PC:
      www.repetier.com/
      First start and configuration described in their documentation:

    Print on PLA, not ABS. PLA is easy to print and more cheap.

    • @electronpath
      @electronpath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easier to print - yes.
      Cheaper - definitely not. In my country ABS is almost two times cheaper than PLA.
