The surreal peace after the eventful but safe crash landing, looking up at the formation in the distance. Impeccable atmosphere.
Yes. Quite the contrast, especially when you hear the birds singing in the fields.
It's a freezing cold atmosphere up there as well as the chaos of the war in the skies and they all eventually ended up back down to Earth one way or another.
10:01 Dude, are you INSANE?!?! Taking on a formation B-17 Flying Fortresses on your own at point blank!!😱😱 I'm astonished that you managed to survive, let alone avoid being shot down!!
I had other Bf 109's with me, keeping the Mustangs busy.
Their is a technique where you can fly around the B-17's whilst taking quick shots at them and have less of a chance of being shot. I might upload it soon. But as long as you stay fast and don't fly directly behind them whilst in their range, then it is much harder for the gunners to shoot you.
A lot of mistakes where made by me as the pilot in this video. I stayed in place for too long.
I’m sorry but piloting aspect of this video is absolutely terrible, the combat, the landing. The video quality itself is great… but hard to watch
We all gotta learn at some point, it's not like B.D. could've had WWII military training.
But yeah my stomach turned upside down seeing a POV of flying in formation with enemy bombers lol, in Il2 1946 you'd be a fireball if you so much as lined up behind them without maneuvering.
The updated version of this video is better. Apparently this was from a live stream a year ago. The picture quality and flying is better aswel
This video is the old version now . from a live stream . Look at the video that is more recent . Its better than this one.
The detail they put into this game is amazing!
Yeah, it looks great and will keep getting better as well.
You were in quite the pickle trying to find a suitable place to land, I saw you eyeball that huge empty smooth field but I guess you were too high to make it, I thought for sure you were going to be a fireball where you ended up. alot of fun to watch....amazing how these video games are getting so good....the expanse of the sky....the world looks so huge when you were landing I wouldnt be surprised in future games you could land and be chased down behind enemy lines by troops trying to find you....sneaking into villages. getting into a gun battle with you trapped inside a building.
Yes! Well spotted! :)
I was indeed eyeballing that 'smooth' field except as I looked closer I noticed their were thick bushes all over that field.
In hindsight I should have gambled and hoped that my plane would not slam into the bushes, or I should have pulled the nose up and parachuted out.
It would be amazing if after I 'landed' I was then in some chaotic ground war with just my pistol and a flare gun and my mission was to make it back alive to my airfield, command or headquarters. Just like the movie 'Behind Enemy Lines.' WWII edition lol
Maybe one day!
11:23 Just when the B-17's and you thought you were about to attack again, your engine said NOPE, time to land!! Then proceeded to deadstick on you, turning you into a glider.😂
Yeah, the gauge for my fuel pressure went down to zero as the engine stopped. They may have hit a fuel pipe or radiator.
Thanks for no commentary! I'd rather enjoy the great soundscape than have to listen to how great the player is...
@snr.puente5109 That’s good to know as I’ve got a voice for print. 😂👍
One could make s short movie out of this, really awesome video. Congrats!
Thanks! @despahoria3043 :)
If I had camera views from the bombers perspective it would look better.
It's just a shame that the replay system in DCS seems to break or go out of sync after a while into the replay.
They almost got my Oma, but only because they were so damn inaccurate! Frohes neues Jahr, Brüderlein!
That was lucky! Happy New Year friend!🙂
Nice video, great flying!
Davies! Cheers fella! :)
12:28 You have so many holes in your aircraft, and you are missing your right aileron!!🤯😱
It's still controllable. You can land with both ailerons missing, as you can use the rudders to roll the plane.
@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations , that is true.
Long walk home!
Dieses Englisch mit deutschem Akzent! :-D Großartig
Imagine crash landing in dcs and suddenly its an arma game
@@jaype331 I can dream but unfortunately the developers at Eagle Dynamics just recently came out and said that they wouldn’t be adding First Person Shooter gameplay as the competition is just too strong and maybe they couldn’t do it justice. :(
I think we can run around as soldiers with heat seeking missile launchers though or Manpads but we can only fire on vehicles.
I watched a video of someone doing this in multiplayer a few years ago but no gunplay.
Nice ditch landing, that was awesome! 👍 I love doing that in these games 😁
Thanks. I was looking for an open field but I didn't trust the small bushes I could see in the fields.
Dead stick landings are great. Especially in the F-16C where the EPU meter starts to drain when the fuel runs out.
@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations Just curious, where'd you get the English cockpit for the 109? It's not in the sim, or at least I don't have it.
@@devilsoffspring5519
It's a mod by Quartermaster called:
QM's Bf-109 Imperial English Cockpit - 2024 Edition.
I will post a link below this comment but TH-cam might not allow the link.
Go to user files on the official Eagle Dynamics website or try Googling it.

@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations Very cool, thanks!
wow its crazy just how much better this is from IL-2 Sturmovik. In IL-2 Sturmovik you can only get 4 bombers and they break formation the second you attack them and each go in their own diraction.
Did I reply to you? I can’t see my reply. TH-cam are deleting my own comments on my own videos on my channel? Lol
IL-2 has a better damage model and the WWII servers are more populated than DCS. It’s a shame that we don’t get four engines in IL-2. The new Korea sim looks great! 👍🏻
This looks gorgeous
Yeah, DCS looks fantastic. It also looks amazing at night time with the city lights shining through the fog and clouds when coming in to land at an airport.
Presume that would have been a bail out in real life?
Most likely, although I assume a real German pilot would have known a backup airfield that was close and would have glided the plane onto the airfield with the gear up.
I was looking at a specific field that I was confident I could land in safely until I noticed the thick bushes in said field. I may have been too low to bailout so I panicked and tried to fly in between the trees and the wooden post at the end.
bad gunnery but awesome video!
Thanks! You're right about the shooting. I'm not sure a single 30mm round hit.
I might have slightly better gunnery in my next video. I just need to think of a title and then come up with a thumbnail.
@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations just imagine what it would have been like if it was the real deal. gives me a lot of respect for both sides of this. just crazy.
Exactly! @sanjeever82
This is kind of the real deal, just simulated.
You had rookie Bf 109 pilot's and B-17 Gunners that were very eager young men that were thrown into the meat grinder that was World War II and nobody really thinks they are the bad guy in wars or conflicts. You just had propaganda from both sides.
It's much more complex than 'Good V's Bad.'
Great point!
well thanks, and yeah! the "bad gunnery" thing wasn't meant to be a true insult. because you did a great job simulating the inexperienced Luftwaffe pilot at this point in the war. it would have been much harder in real life! flight sims in VR are great (and people really gotta try it for themselves to understand) but even just craning your neck to check your 6 is a real deal thing. it gets exhausting even when you're in your comfy PC chair...then imagine doing that under hard G load with no G-suit lol. stuff like Track IR is cool, but VR makes it a whole different experience in so many ways.
Thanks. And yeah it's tough looking behind you in VR. I think it's good to have a flexible neck though. It's probably good for your health and circulation to stretch your neck a little. VR in DCS is like Neck Yoga lol
You'll notice that a lot of people in VR naturally look over their right shoulder as well.
A neat little trick is that when you approach a plane from behind, come from their 7 O'clock position as it's harder for them to see you there. A blind spot for VR users especially. ;)
how did I not know you can exit your aircraft and walk around in dcs
It's a shame you can't exit and then get back in when you start at the airfield.
Walking around the aircraft and checking it out before you fly would be a nice feature.
@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations yeah! I mean it sure seems like a bulk of the mechanics are already there for it anyway.
@@ItsJustSteve Have you seen the demo trailer for IL2 Korea, where the pilot gets out of his Mustang and walks on the wing and then they have another video of the pilot getting into the cockpit?
The physics look amazing as the plane wobbles with the weight of the pilot on top of the wing! I can’t wait for that sim! We get 1950’s jets too! :)
And maybe WWII Carrier Deck landings and takeoffs!
@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations yeah I am very curious and excited to see what Il-2 Korea brings! It's such an interesting era for military aviation. If it were up to me Korea and Vietnam would be DCS's next primary direction. Alas, it is not my world, I am just living in it.
@ We definitely need Vietnam in DCS. I think the jungle with all of the dense trees will be really hard on the GPU and CPU though.
We also might be getting Napalm with a Jet coming out in 2025. I think it's another French Cold war jet. Napalm sounds like a hard weapon to simulate because of the huge fires it causes. I wonder if they can pull it off?
Check out the shadow at @16:57, bro did all that with no head.
The best protection for your head is to have no head ;)

Hello :)
You guys prefer IL-2 or DCS?
I can setup a poll if you’d like. Although I can’t guarantee that many people will take part in it. I’m only a small channel.
I prefer DCS for the full fidelity modern planes myself but IL-2 is or was better for WWII multiplayer the last time I checked. VR performance is better in IL-2 and the damage model in IL-2 is far better than DCS. The way the planes react to being hit by explosive cannons never gets old.
You can walk anywhere after bailing out ? deymm...
Yeah, you just can't get back in the plane after you bail out as far as I know.
What is the name of the game?
@@liti_gator It’s called Digital Combat Simulator World.👍
can you post this (or similar) mission? I can not make formation of this size to work properly so I don't play at all... it's a waste...
btw. your gear is worth more than everything I own in my life...

go to minute 7:55 for action.
How do you managed to stick the text box and the window for the hit in that position?
You mean the window in the bottom right of the screen? The one that lets me know if I hit the target?
If that is what you mean, it's a setting called 'Battle Assessment Damage.'
Just turn it on when you are in the Main Menu settings.
@ i mean, for example at 9:59, that box is close to the center of the cockpit. In my dcs is stuck to the border of the screen. I’m asking this because I’m learning the f18 and the text of the instructor are placed in the top right corner and it’s tricky to do operation in the cockpit and constantly move the head to the corner! Haha I hope I explained myself clearly!
@ Oh, it’s moving like that because I’m wearing a Pimax Crystal Virtual Reality headset. This is just what a VR recording looks like when you see it on a flat screen.
@ thank you!
10:50 The Fortress crees are going to call you the nightmare 109 that was hit, and smoking, but kept on coming to attack and kill. The Stubborn Devil.😈
Why do they not really shoot back at you, especially between 8:00 and 9:00?
@@Specimen-7 It’s because of the high angles of attack that I’m creating. Giving less time for each individual gunner to train their aim on me.
Some of the crew could have already been killed by me, flak or other intercepters.
I’ve updated this video to a better one. This is an old video now. The bullets and tracer fire is clearer in my new version as it’s much less compressed.
@@Specimen-7 If you are wearing headphones it’s much easier to hear the bullets hitting me as well. It sounds like a deep thud when I’m hit.
@ Thanks!
That's awesome.
@ Anytime friend :)
what game is this?
Digital Combat Simulator.
I moved from the X-Box One console to PC just so I could get into this.
Omg.
I've never been a nazi interceptor pilot, but it seems that approaching the bombers from behind at a rather slow closing speed, where the bomber can shoot at you from the tail turret, ball turret, and top turret is about the worst attack profile you could make. From what I remember, their approach was usually head on, and high, with a high closing speed to give the bombers minimal time to shoot back, and this is why later models of B-17 upgraded the guns at the front.
Thanks for the feedback.
I applaud the realism you put into this but the piloting, spatial awareness and combat was awful.
@@TheWeasel19 This was an old recording. I just uploaded a new version today. This video was taken from a Live Stream almost a year ago.
My worst videos seem to perform much better for some strange reason.

german plane with english writings on instruments ?
@@soap_off It’s a mod. This isn’t the original ‘DCS Bf 109K’ cockpit texture. It also displays Knots in Indicated Airspeed instead of KPH.
My first video on this channel has the original DCS cockpit texture.
@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations you don't want to learn german ? 😂
I would like to learn another language, maybe even German (If I had the time) but I understand what the buttons do in German and I did learn the 109 in the German cockpit (as in my previous video's in the 109) but the English language in the cockpit helps other (English speaking) people watching. This 109 was the first plane I was comfortable with flying in DCS and multiplayer a few year's ago when I first started.
The cockpit textures on some of the DCS planes are a little outdated as well. This mod also makes it look a bit better and darker than the original.
I even changed/ modded the F-16C cockpit and Spitfire to look slightly different from the original.
Although in the Swedish Viggen, I did mod the cockpit and changed it to English from the start. I would do the same if I was trying to learn a Russian Jet in DCS.
Welp, now what you gonna do?. lmfao!
I was thinking that I could either walk back to Caen and get drunk or report to my Hauptmann at Carpiquet? ;)

Normandy 2.0 is awesome eh :)
It's the best WWII map in all of the sims I've tried, in my opinion. We get London to Normandy to Paris.
Although tough to get a stable frame rate in VR.
@@British_Dragon-4K-Simulations Normandy 2.0 has an absolutely huge object count, all those trees and buildings make it a VRAM hog and it's hard on the GPU itself as well. It is absolutely gorgeous though and I like to fly around Paris and London just to admire the lovely scenery, never mind combat missions :)
Paris in particular is just amazing. I have yet to try it out in a night mission just to see what it looks like from the air at night.
@@devilsoffspring5519 Yeah, it's the hardest map to run for me. The night lights would look amazing, especially since they added Volumetric Lighting in the last update. It could look good through light fog settings as well.
