    I would love to hear you guys talk about either Bulgarian style training or soviet style training cause those are pretty popular in their use of intensity even though most of those lifters had insane doping regiments. If you get the opportunity it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on Zack Telander's videos on programming for max strength, he is an olympic weightlifting coach.

    You guys have me SO FOCUSED on my fitness that even when I bend over the sink to wash my face, I treat it as a "hip hinge" movement instead of a "taxing my lumbar spine" movement. Haha! Freakin love it! Hey! I'd love for you guys to break down the 5 x 5 program. I think that program is what blew-out my pelvic floor and sent me through months and months of rehab. I would love to get your thoughts on it. Thanks so much for EVERYTHNIG that ya'll do!

    One thing I really liked about gvt when I did it like 7 years ago was using a weight I could kill for 6-7 sets of 10 then my reps becoming 9 8 7 7 or so. Was a great and safe way to sort of work through several rep ranges

    Would be awesome to hear you guys compare the differences in physiques that are built by different sports and strength sports. For example, the arms on the top arm wrestlers in the world, or the quads of the top cyclists in the world.

      There are definitely big differences, even among athletes that are technically doing the same movement. Just compare the bodies of sprinters to marathoners. I think most of us would prefer to look like a sprinter

    I think a comparison between something like strongman vs body building. Most people just see a giant men moving heavy things, but it's definitely a different training and diet style.

    I would like to see you guys go over either gregg doucette's material or Jeff cavalier. I used to watch all their material and used much of it for diet and training but since finding mind pump around 3 months ago I have made the most progress even without one of your programs just from taking on the information in the podcast has made a big change to my training. Thanks to you all and if I don't win a program I will be purchasing one in the near future.

    I have been binge watching your podcast for the last 3 months and in that time i have realised that frequency is probably king when it comes to building muscle and the skills of lifts. I want you guys to critique the program of olympic weight lifting for building muscle and performance as i can see these guys are JACKED. Im from the balkans and in my region there were very strong olympic weightlifters in the past.

    I have recently considered trying the Texas method but I feel like there are holes in the amount of volume and exercises in the program.     CRITIQUE FULL BODY, now hear me out. i know you guys PREACH full body all the time but id love to have one giant discussion on it. The proven benefits, personal experiences with clients, how effective it is for the general population in there day to day lives, the mindset of soomeone who does full body versus someone who does something like a split (push, pull, legs), etc. ID LOVE a reference episode about this topic. I'm a fullbody enthusiast and give full thanks to you guys for that and its been the biggest game changer in my life holistically. Thank you for all the quality information you guys dish out so willingly.

      I've got MAPS Anabolic and I'm on my second cycle . Great program, love it.
      But how the fuck do you guys do 5x5 for squats or deadlifts.. then go do heavy EVERYTHING ELSE 🤣🤣
      Like I said this is my second cycle of it and I'm having to split it into a kinda upper/lower because I just do not have the juice to do that much heavy lifting in one session.
      By the time I get to biceps I'm shot lol

      @@SuperSteelSteve I like to change the order of the workout sometimes. Work back to front so that you aren't always depleting yourself on the same exercises. It might mean your squat is a few kgs lesser on the day it's not your first exercise but this has worked for me. Though I do prefer the compound lifts at the start as they're obviously the core movements.

    Anything by Brian Alsruhe, 4Horseman, Powerbuilder. There a bunch but you have day 1 deadlift focus, day 2 OHP focus day 3 squat focus and day 4 bench focus!
    I think you’d find them to be fantastic

    Wussup guys checking in from Louisiana hurricane ida messed us up pretty bad but we are still kicking!! Anyway I’ve been training people for about 3 years now and sometimes I still feel lost. Finding this podcast is probably the best thing that has happened to my clients and I! Even if I don’t get picked I would appreciate any information on how to get plugged into your network of trainers. I’m trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can from you guys. Looking to branch off into online training and the last thing i want is Adam to come across my program and toss it out the window lol with that being said the I think it would be cool for you guys to break down that old school Arnold routine not sure if he had a name for it. How do you guys feel about a 6 day training week, the volume and exercise selection? Regardless of what you guys pick I know it’ll be a great show packed with knowledge!     Can you guys talk about the Texas method. It seems to focus on volume, recovery, and intensity on a specific day. The program seems to benefit novice lifters, but what about experienced lifters? What would you guys do to tweak the program to get more out of it or is it a good program as is? I would also like it if you guys could talk about why Justin is the coolest and sexiest host on Mind Pump.

    I often hear about 5x5 being a good routine for beginners to really practice the skill of lifting. I also understand it is a routine that advanced lifters can go back to when they forget the roots of barbell exercises. Would love to hear a more in depth critique of a 5x5 routine for beginners and advanced to elite weightlifters.

    I do the 10x10 with the bench, I leave at 135lbs but use bands with it to really practice form and make challenging at the same time.

    I would like you guys to critique Maps Powerlift because you would think that getting good at the big 3 lifts Bench Squat Deadlift would cover most of your needs but we know there is more to it than that. Would love to hear the story of how that program was made and the pros and cons of Maps Powerlift.

      Well if you're powerlifting (competing) all you need to care about is how you perform in competition for those lifts. You're not scored on physique or ancillary lifts. So any good powerlifting would focus on getting enough practice in those lifts. Any other excercises are just there to help you perform better in the big 3

    I have used GVT a fair bit with great results but feel it is excessive for natural lifters, 5 sets with more frequency is a lot better. Recently, I have been doing 3 working sets on each compound exercise in a 10 rep range, so squats or deads, dB chest and overhead press then latt pull, seated row and some core work on day 2 twice a week (4 workouts a week) 40 min sessions.
    I have added 10-15kg on each exercise and put on a solid 1 kg muscle in 5-6 weeks. It's often sub max simplistic training that is the most effective. I have been a PT for 16 years and the biggest mistake people make is going to a gym and killing themselves every session.
    Volume Is the key when it comes to muscle or strength but frequency gets over looked and putting it all into a periodised plan and proper program then turns it into something way more effective. It is all person specific too as a 25 year old would be able to recover and deal with GVT alot better vs a 35 year old.

    My daughter has been doing the Beach Body workouts and enjoys doing them. So my wife and I are now getting up at 4:50am to do the program. I’m not completely sold on this program but at least I’m being more consistent. Can you compare that style of training to your programs.

      I love this comment. I did the original Beach Body & P90X when I was in college. I was in phenomenal shape - I also worked at a gym & did fitness modelling at the time. For most people, those programs will work if you stick with them. It becomes a question of whether you can stay on the nutrition plan long-term.

    I would appreciate it if you guys touched on the pros and cons of HIIT, and how to properly incorporate it in a resistance training program. I feel like I've never had a great grasp of it, though I would like to use it in the summertime to achieve a leaner physique. Recently got Anabolic, and so Performace and Esthetic would be perfect to complete in that order, as you guys have discussed. As many other comments say, thanks again for the great content!

    Would you guys give your take on Boxing training programs and how this might differ to different programs out there. I like that aesthetically pleasing physique while also packing strength.
    How does their combination of resistance training and cardio play out in the grand scheme of things?
    edit: I forgot to add this but is their weight training frequency (which I often heard is about 1-2/week) is enough?

    As a 50+ Yr old mountain bike rider who lifts 3 times a week, I would like to hear more about MAPS performance. I am looking to increase overall power by keeping weight down and increasing strength. All while trying to keep endurance high for my 1-2 hr trail rides. Cheers!.

    Mike Matthews’ Bigger Leaner Stronger, I know sometimes less is more but I often come out of the workouts (only did 2 weeks, so that’s most the problem) wanting more. Feeling like it wasn’t enough. I like the 6 rep scheme of the program but is it beneficial for everyone ?

    I think a critique on Maps aesthetic would be beneficial. Only because for a lot of people it’s not all about how we look. I find myself asking all the time “Is it better to look good, or is it better to be stronger”?

    Hey guys i love the podcast. Recently i have been introduced to Smolov and Smolov jr programs and have been fascinated by the proven results from this program. I understand that these are very sport specific for powerlifting or strongman athletes and although would love to try i feel like neglecting the other lifts for the 3/4 week programme would be such a loss in those movements with just one lift getting stronger. Have you guys ever run a specific programme for a single lift over a certain time, did you lose strength in the other lifts or how did you integrate maintenace in those lifts whilst focusing on building the other?

    Just did 10x10 squats with 90 seconds rest for the first time ever after watching this video. Thought it was a waste of time till I got to about set 8. I can barely walk out of the gym.

    Like it or not but the great Vince Gironda who was one of the greatest trainers that ever lived NEVER believed in squats, deadlifts and bench press. He believed they ruined one's physique. The squat and the deadlift spread the hips he believed. And the traditional bench press is 90 percent front delts.

    I'd like to hear what you guys think about Chad Waterbury's 10x3 - The Waterbury Method. I've done 10x3 consistently only for flat bench press and have gotten really great results from it for both strength and size (it's the only way I bench now 😁), but I'd like to know what you guys think of it's effectiveness as far as strength and/hypertrophy are concerned. And if you do google search on bodybuilding programs these are among top 7 including GVT. And also what would be cool is after you have presented some of the common ones make a comparison between them why one is better or not and rank each of them separately.

    I would like to see how you would incorporate something like knees over toes guy system with anabolic or performance. Im feeling like his program is building strength in my knees and hips but not sure if it’s too much to combo with a maps program

      I agree because with the inclusion of deadlifts and squats in anabolic, but really no leg isolation accessory movements, while building my strength, my knees and joints don’t feel like they’re getting stronger. I’m not sure if that makes any sense, my legs also have always been a weak point for me, so maybe I just need a targeted block for them

    I purchased the performance and aesthetic bundle in the most recent sale! I’m excited to dive in when I’m done with anabolic. I would love to hear more about the prime pro program. I purchase prime but I am wondering why should I purchase prime pro? What’s the difference?

    Didn’t care for GVT, had to use light weights to be successful at 10x10. As such I added very little to the bar over the course of three months. I suppose endurance improved, but I’m not lifting weights to improve endurance.

    Da Rulk’s Raw Functional Training would be interesting. Chris Hemsworth hs trained under him as well. I’ve seen some of his stuff but I am wondering if the exercises commonly done in RFT is more effective in training movements important to jobs such as first responders than just tailoring resistance training to movements that are commonly used on these types of jobs. He also talks a little about how it fires the CNS as it introduces moves uncommonly used. The movements seem flashy and may have some value but I am curious to hear the opinion of you three on this one.

    Would be interested in hearing the in depth breakdown of anabolic and why it seems to be the staple start you recommend to most people instead of maps starter, I understand from a perspective of maybe someone is already kind of working out, but they want more intensity which I’m assuming is more of maps anabolic vs maps starter, just curious the whole breakdown of anabolic. I’m currently getting back into better eating habits and starting to go to the gym more to help my mental and physical health (I have bipolar two and working out always helped me maintain my hormones, along with proper diet and therapy), two weeks started and already seeing improvements. In a debate on which program to pull the trigger on to start this fitness journey again. Anyway you fellas chose I will be interested, thanks for all you do guys.

    I have a Move I Called a Jhin Set. 1,2,3,4 Reps 4 Sec Negative on the 4th rep. 4x4 = 16 reps .4 Sets.

    Would be very interested to hear you speak about Pyramid and Reverse pyramid training as it combines low weight high reps with high weight low reps. Used to do a lot of pyramids through thigh school and loved the idea . Wondering how effective it may actually be.

    Hey guys, would love to get your take on Pyramid Style Training. I'm 21 now and when I started my journey training until recently, I would train Squats, for example, and I'd start with 12 reps, then 10, 8, and finishing with 6 reps. And every time i lowered the reps I'd increase the weight. I never really hear about that type of training anymore. What are your thoughts?

    I would love to see you review a Buff Dudes 12 week programme. I first got into weightlifting after coming across their channel around 6 years ago and would like to hear your thoughts on whether the programmes hold up or if you would class them as outdated. I see the 12 week home and gym workout they did as my first love and would never have ended up as a regular listener of your podcast without their fun approach to fitness reeling me in.

      @@cheetoyeeto1232 im more thinking of how those exercises are put together in a programme designed to achieve a certain result, the exercises themselves will still be effective but the combination of exercises may not be the best fit or could put too much stress on a particular muscle which could lead to imbalances or increased chance of injury

    I’d be curious to hear your take on the application of plyometrics and techniques meant to emphasize the speed of contraction. A greater speed of contraction will recruit a greater number of motor units, but it will sacrifice intramuscular force production and therefore possibly an optimal hypertrophic stimulus. Perhaps there’s an ideal mixture?

    Could u guys do a deep dive into Mike Matthew’s Bigger Leaner Stronger program? I’ve bought and read his book (3rd edition) and it comes with an optional one year training routine called The One Year Challenge. The book is excellent, the training portion is good, but it quickly becomes a little too intense following his suggested double progression training method. I’ve followed this program for about 5 months, hopefully soon I will be transitioning to MAPS training once I can afford it (or win the free giveaway 🤞🏾)There aren’t really any solid reviews on this program on TH-cam and u guys would be perfect for the task. Thanks!

    I absolutely love doing deadlifts and squats. Helped the waitress at our regular bar move one of those 52 lb industrial oscillating fans (in my flip flops)... everybody watched me, shocked.

    is there a reason u can't adjust the weight as u continue the workout? ie. set 1-3 225 lbs set 4-7 180 etc

    Hi guys! Please critique maps aesthetics because I bought that first not knowing it was the last program! I wish I would have known there was an order (anabolic, performance and aesthetics ) but I’m still enjoying the workouts!
