John noakes ..the man ...the legend ....my childhood hero (I'm 58 years of age ) see you later mr noakes 👍. Now you and shep are together again. Peace out ✌
John Noakes is one of the few people that has ever appeared on tv that my dad actually liked & respected. RIP John, you made Blue Peter one of the greatest tv programs ever.🇬🇧👍
John Noakes died today Mr Noakes was my hero growing up as a kid. He inspired me to have a very adventurous young life. Looking back on it all now I realise what an influence he must have had on so many young people. His enthusiasm, his courage bravery everything Mr Noakes, Sir you will always be my hero. RIP
I remember watching blue peter in the 70s, I was a child. I couldn't actually care any less about poor Johns death, it wasn't as though he was still working on tv. I was surprised he didn't die years ago.. I know that dog of his did.
I look at this film and remember watching Blue Peter and Go with Noakes it was a more innocent time laughter and Adventure. Thinking back to that time with him and Shep made me smile and seeing this again I still smile. RIP John and Shep
He was such a likeable man and completely genuine. He never seemed to have an ego and appeared to love life to the max. Thanks for the lovely childhood memories, so sad that kids do not have the freedom we had now.
We all have our Demons.... John's was Alcohol... "Unfortunately" RIP Mate. He's drinking was beginning to take hold of his life, and ageing his appearance quite rapidly. Living on a yacht with his wife, must of been a harder existence, than he ever imagined.
I love how dismissive he his of the harness etc! He's thinking "mate, I once climbed nelsons column on windy day wearing plimsolls, I'm sure I'll survive" haha. RIP.
Compare this to his climb up Nelson's column. He just had his street clothes on for that. No helmet. No harness. Either he was mad or had bigger balls than an elephant!!
Blue Peter has been as good without Blue peter would have been no good without John.I saw him Leverton windmill 1966 than a again 1970 Doncaster work. Top rating for Blue Peter When John the program the rating went down. leat now John is with shep thank you Lord for sending John

Thanks for posting this. I directed it back in 1993. John was great to work with and seemed exactly like he was when I was a kid.

Great to hear you directed this back in the day John was a bit of a daredevil and didn't mind doing it. What was the building called he went up

A true icon and very special to many of us who group up in the 70s. I must admit to shedding a tear when I learnt of his passing.

His final challenge was find his way back home in 2015....
This wasn't a challenge for John, they had safety gear, in my day he just went up with nothing to stop him falling.

Dire image quality for 1993, pity penny pinching BBC trashed 16mm film capture over low quality video tape...
Wow, didn't he age quick! His only 59 here, and looks about 70. At least.
Yorkshire Air, I think he worked as a farmer on his land so would have been out in the sun and drying wind a lot.
You wait till you get to 60
Noakes literal final challenge was to remember his own name. 😂
You don’t know what’s round the corner for you so enjoy your moment of hilarity Johnny.
Please change your name to cunt
