I've definitely had plants that said "Fuck You". I'd love to see your rescue section and what's going on there. Thanks again for a great vid. Brad is looking extra handsome today 😻.
Ive never seen any youtuber with such updates on single plant journey. Really happy to see how to navigate the plant growth in each of its stage. Please keep such content comming!
Manjula looking fabulous again! Depending on conditions, my double moss poles need 1.5 bottles to reach all the way down to water entire pole snd pot. Looks to me like dry rot went unnoticed since the tops look healthy. Those propogations are worth their weight in gold to the online community. You should have AJ carry a special line of SPG babies to sell??? Plus, Tim needs a new plant with puppy updates anyway.😻
I live this plant of your so sad it dropped its leaves. I’m take a page from your plant book and I’ve started a golden pothos early stages still but it’s doing very well
I also would like to see your rescue section. So much to learn from challenging plants. I also have trouble keeping the bottom of moss poles damp. The water just never wants to travel that far, instead it runs out the side of the pole making a wet mess. In dry climates I think poles need watering every day. 😐
If it runs out the sides I recommend compacting the moss more when filling the pole! It probably won't help your current poles but try it out with a new pole and see how it goes 😊 (Also some people recommend not letting it dry out too much so it doesn't become hydrophobic and repells the water instead of absorbing it 👍)
I spray my moss pole with a pressured sprayer first then drop the bottle. It’s the most dries out too much. It will repel the water and push it out, the sides, but adding more moss and compacting it into the pool, will keep it wet for longer and prevent this.
I’ve started lining my moss poles with a thin sheet of plastic for about 1/2 the circumference. Slows drying, helps direct roots back in, and not very visible!
Your channel has been such a help during the past 2 years. Thank you so much! I am really grateful for your presence on TH-cam. Unfortunately, my current plant odyssey is coming to an end. I am embarking on a cross-country move, which is 2000 miles away. Logistically, it's not feasible to move my house plants. I'm going to be more minimalistic with my house plants from now on.
Great video, thanks! I am new to moss poles, made one as per your tutorials. I have a Philodendron Majesty now establishing nicely on the pole. We are in the height and heat (30-40+C)of summer here in Kamloops. Canada. Few roots yet to support the Philo on the pole, monitoring both the pole and pot, is critical to keep the pole and pots roots growing well. I am finding that a half bottle is enough to seep down to moisten the pole without staturating the pot working well. I am monitoring closely, after 30min-2 hours, then again in the morning just until I get a feel for how much is enough. Excellent video! 🙂
It sounds like it could have been dry rot, which happens when the roots desiccate from lack of moisture and then you water them and they basically disintegrate into the soil. It's not rot in the traditional sense of a bacterial infection, but the roots just kind of degrade into the soil. It happens with severe underwatering
Thank you for your videos. They have given me a healthy outlet for my constant mental struggle, all while teaching me important and entertaining facts about the plants that interest me!!
I just discovered that all of my moss poles were crunchy at the bottom! I thought I was doing so well, lol. I, too was just checking the tops for crunch. I need more frequent bottle feeding for sure. The lower leaves on my adonsonii were yellowing. I’m so glad I discovered it when I did.
I reset my manjula recently too. It had very damaged older leaves from a past pest infestation. It’s awesome I was able to beat such a bad case of thrips, but those old leaves were so sad and damaged. A lot eventually fell off on their own and others I took off myself. I’m letting the bare section restart too. It’s going to be very bushy if all the nodes it has started keep growing!
I watched your video s,now i made a mosspole like yours..i got some bags Spagnummos, but when opening it had a strong bad smell. Is the spagnummoss in a rotting stage, too old,? How does the moss smell normally,i can not imagibg that this dirty smell is normal. Any ideas?
Can I get your advice here. If you observe gutation on the leaves(water droplets at the tip of leaves), do you still water the moss pole which seems dry and “crispy”?
It’s the middle of winter :) but I heat indoors and supplement vis growlights so it shouldn’t be enough to make this plant drop so many leaves at once. But probably a contributing factor! :)
I've noticed a lot of my plants are growing tiny leaves and I'm not sure why. They are well fertilised, kept in good soil mixture and under direct sun. (They used to do splendid in direct sun, btw) What am I doing wrong. Could you help?
Freezing cold outside? What, is it plus 15? 😂 jk I’ve lost 2 baby manjulas and on my 3rd, I’ve been wanting to grow it like you but the plants I got were just unroofed cuttings in my early days growing, I didn’t really know how to root them properly. This last one has got a teeny root system just in coco bark, pray for him that one day he becomes like yours!!!

Oh no, not the Manjula 😵. This vid made me feel right at home 🥴 Thanks for showing us the less than perfect. 😊
Keeping us in the reality loop like this, is so proactive for possible challenges we may face down the line. Thank you ❤
It's reassuring to see that everyone has random plant issues sometimes. This was very informative and a fun video to watch!
Thanks :)
Thank you for showing us all that you are not perfect at all, because I certainly thought you were with those gorgeous plants.
No matter what happened to the bottom part, it’s absolutely gorgeous! You’ve done a great job with it. ❤
Thanks :)

If I’m ever feeling down I just need to turn on the plant guy. He has such a good outlook and is so patient and funny. He brightens my day. ❤thank you
once again the moss pole proves to be the best support for aroids :D

It’s still, such a beauty! Thanks for sharing, Jan!
And yes it still looks beautiful 😍
Great lesson for us all 👍👍
I love seeing the problem solving!

I felt so chaoticly invested in this.

Gorgeous Manjula!
I love everything about this video. It’s nice to see when things go wrong and practical ways of fixing it.
Thank you:)
So much better!!! I am not a fan of tall moss poles that are heavy on top. It’s actually perfect now in my opinion. Good job!

The manjula will look so much fuller and more beautiful with the leaves facing forward. ❤
Thank you for showing us reality, it makes a big difference. 💚🌱
Thanks :)

Thank you for information it’s still so beautiful 🪴🪴 ❤️🌹👍
Thank you:)
Oh no! Your Manjula 😢😢 hope it feels better soon...
Are the no roots from the pole down into the pot? How does that work?
Yes. A few of my poles said F you as well. I couldn't figure it out either. Pissed me off and they went to the chopping block😂
I lol’d when you were like “maybe it had enough of me and it was like ‘fuck you’.” Haha been there.
❤️

Yes :)
Aren’t you guys going into fall or winter in Australia? It could just be the season.
It’s the middle of winter :) but I heat indoors and supplement vis growlights so it shouldn’t be enough to make this plant drop so many leaves at once. But probably a contributing factor! :)
3:05 I think because all the moss polls don't aline it didn't get the lower half moist.
Hey Jan, did you know that Sunshine Greens on Etsy is using your picture for Alocacia Cuprea? 🤔
Unfortunately my pictures are often stolen across the internet … suppose that’s just part of being online these days! Thanks for letting me know :)
Do you have casual golden pothos in mosspole?
I personally don’t but they look great on poles :)
Dj Moss Pole ❤
So when you cut and replant, you don’t give it time to callous over at the cut?
I usually do :)
@@sydneyplantguy oh ok! Thanks!
O no 🤔😻🌿😻

@@sydneyplantguy brrr! 🥶 of course, us Canadians are still wearing shorts and sandals at 10 degrees! It’s all what you’re used to hey?
What do you mean the variegation didn't like the humidity? What happens?
Was too wet & sunny in the greenhouse for it - so the white part kinda just melted :P
@@sydneyplantguy ah ok thank you, your videos are amazing!! Much appreciated :)
💜💜
Пошла поливать тотемы😅

Is that your new intro & profile pic? Cuz somehow i don't remember seeing them. Or i didn't notice until now...
