*in all animation. This scene (really the whole show, but this scene in particular) is just so absolutely stunningly beautiful, its hard to even describe. I use this scene to entice people to watch the show.
As a Father of a beautiful 3 years old princess I can't help feeling such a deep sadness only by imagining what this character might be going through for the loss of his daughter. It's a very touching episode for me. I think I'd go crazy if I lost my baby. This animé is something else.
I've been rewatching this show to prepare for the movie coming to Netflix in Oct, and I just rewatched this episode this morning. It hit harder than the first time I watched it, because now I'm in nursing school, and last semester, my clinical group went to the cancer unit at a children's hospital. So many parents are just like the dad in this scene, or they will be. And that's what made seeing this again so emotional for me.
This will always for me be one if not the most beautiful scene ever directed in anime. Not just in quality of anime but in the music score, the colors shown, the importance to the plot of the episode. The director nailed so much of what is important even the audio tuning not to overwhelm the viewers with Evan Call's music when the character is monologue and the voice actors abilites to display emotions trough voice. This scene alone i remeber years later. This scene alone do i often come back to look for.
Damn I thought the sub was gonna be good and the dub wouldn’t live up to it in comparison but the dads voice actor really nailed it, you could just hear the sheer heartbreak and pleading in his voice, amazingly done
9 month old comment, but i figured i'd take the time to tell you that this spanish voice actor is called "Mario Castañeda" and he is very beloved in the latino communities because he also makes the latin american dub of GOKU. He is amazing
No matter what language it is, this scene is the most beautiful one of this whole anime. The quality of the animation is not from this world, and the voice acting is stellar
Never seen this anime before, but just clicked on this video anyway. Then, when he started having the flashbacks, I felt myself tearing up, which never happens, and I just yelled, "oh shoot"
dude, watch it, this anime is a bloody masterpiece, the 2020 movie (which was the series' conclusion) is also coming to netflix on October 15th, Im definitely gonna rewatch it once it does
This is my favorite episode. It's so deeply meaningful to me. And I share names (and, partially, professions) with the writer. :-) I'll never get tired of repeating: Violet Evergarden is a true gift and treasure for humanity.
I liked this episode more than the heralded ep 10. Musically, visually, and emotionally it came together more powerfully & completely for me than ep 10.
A thing that flies by a lot of people's heads and now that I'm a writer-- whenever he talked about the parasol is the same feeling I get when the inspiration just hits, all the story elements that you've setup just lining up into cohesive story-beats, working hand-in-hand to synergize to this climatic scene-- it's so awesome. Ideas like "Flying by using the Wind Spirit and the Parasol" is just so fantastical and awesome!
I cried every episode when each came out... Watching this scene again after so long has changed nothing about my reaction. It's a truly beautiful anime and remains my number 1 that I will recommend to people till the day I die~
I just showed this to my aunt because I wanted her to see the beautifully animated water. I warned her it was going to be sad, but no warning is enough when it comes to Violet Evergarden.
I’m late to this but this episode made me tear up so much. I was a father who lost there 6 year old daughter a year ago and I’m also a writer. Not to mention I’ve been struggling with alcoholism for the past year and a half. This really hit me.
Hands down one of the most emotional stories I've ever laid eyes on.. as an individual who's gone thru a lot of hardships and loss as well, this anime perfectly encapsulates the relatable feeling of hope and Discovery with every encounter violet comes across.. as she slowly understands herself not as a tool of war.. but a person with feelings and emotions as well.. the writer character reminds me a lot of my personality which is really cool. And his final quote when violet granted his miracle was something I can only describe as beautiful and I got goosebumps every time I hear it... I only wish the anime could continue forever but sometimes the beauty comes from what is already there and the messages it presents to the viewer to understand.. overall 10/10 would watch every month😂
I'm a young man. I've haven't had kids of my own. I haven't even met someone I'd want to have kids with (not yet). But I do have parents, they're divorced, but they still love my brother and I deeply. As someone's son, I don't think I've ever watched this scene without crying.
@@anavalence1710y creo que si le pidieran hacerla otra ves, talves no lo haga o si lo hace se rompería en la primera línea de los recuerdos, por recordar a su nuera, quien interpreto a Violet
Episode 10 was absolutely incredible, there's no getting around that. However, for whatever reason this one struck me more deeply. I think a lot of it had to do with this scene.
The first episode that made me cry in the series. And it wasn't the last.
Same here😢😭😢😭
Episode 3 already hit hard
Episode 10 will kill you. 🥺
Exactly🙂 Violet Evergarden is a anime that you just need to watch after all the action and drama and fantasy😭😭😭😭
We all agree 10th is the one that hits harder
I remember when I first watched violet evergarden.
I couldn’t stop crying. Amazing show
thats why we call it a masterpiece
First? I cried multiple times rewatching it in different dubbings,damn..
Same I couldn’t cry too
You were able to stop am still crying
Same I can’t stop crying for Violet Evergarden
This and the episode about the mom, and about the young soldier.. Those episodes will make your eyes swollen.
I mean, the movie as well!
(Not the Isabelle one!)
the young soldier episode I was holding it in until the end when she delivered the letter to the family. I then bawled my fucking eyes out.
Yeah 😢
Yeah! An eye cleaner for sure. 😊❤
I didn’t think I’d cry at the soldier one but when Violet started crying saying she couldn’t save him I started to bawl my eyes out
I had always thought this anime was beautiful but the scene of her landing on the leaf truly was one of the most beautiful scenes in this anime
*in all animation. This scene (really the whole show, but this scene in particular) is just so absolutely stunningly beautiful, its hard to even describe. I use this scene to entice people to watch the show.
@@merlyworm you’re right in that correction haha
I never cried so hard. Such a beautiful episode.
This freaking part changed me it made me want to write beautiful scenarios and made me want to really focus on becoming a writer!

Amen brother. I got a 2.5 year old baby girl. This scene tore me to pieces. I wish no such suffering of this kind on even the worst of humanity.
Why I watched this scene again when I knew that i am gonna cry.

100% agree. Evan Call is a master. you wanna see him do the same or even better, watch Frieren. This show and Frieren are both top notch OSTs.
No anime has made me sob as hard as Violet Evergarden has
Damn I thought the sub was gonna be good and the dub wouldn’t live up to it in comparison but the dads voice actor really nailed it, you could just hear the sheer heartbreak and pleading in his voice, amazingly done
To me sounded like the voice actor was actually crying during recording 😢

One of the iconic emotional anime scenes
I swear the anime collected out tears and put them in this episode, that’s why the water is so stupidly beautiful
The most beautiful story ever written by any human ..... Akatsuki Kana

Hey Doctor lol can i travel with you?
I just showed this to my work friend tonight after having dinner. She started to weep and said, "I am sold, I have to see this."
It never did dawn on me that this was Kyoto Animation. What a leap from the 2000s, to be sure.
Basically, I cried in every episode of the anime
