If you go by how cheeky our lovely Mr. Styles looks here while singing it and how you can tell he knows exactly what he's doing, I would say there is nothing "pure" about this song. I totally think you got the "love potion" part of your commentary right, it's just not that "love potion" you're thinking of. The lyrics, the movements he makes are all calculated, and the slight moans he puts in at some points are indication enough for me that this is is definitely a naughty song. Hence why he was so shy the first time he sang it almost mumbling the words (and he's not usually the mumbly kind of guy), and why we don't have an actual recording of this masterpiece. I mean "I'm coming down I figured out I kinda like it" and "you've got the salt and I've got an appetite"... yep, ok sir we get it.
I must say I enjoy your reactions and it's refreshing to hear someone say "I had the wrong idea about them, and I was wrong for adhering to the stereotype".

I remember when I watched this performance for the first time. I'm a grown woman, but daumn this made me blush like a tomato. For me it's definitely about sex, how else could anyone see it?! The man is literally moaning and grinding that mic holder. Jeez. Also "I'm coming down, I figured out I kinda like it" leaves very little to imagination of what he is talking about.
One of his best songs. Damn shame he hasn't released it. I think at the time he was not confident enough to put it in his debut album. He was still too worried how people would see him, and this right after clean and innocent 1D stuff.. Well, it might just have been too much for some!
Yup...what Suvi Jii said. Except I wouldn't say 1D was that "clean and innocent." They were hormone driven adolescent boys and it definitely came out in not so subtle ways. They definitely pushed the envelope to see how much they could get away with.😝 By the time they were in their 20s, they were much more direct. No Control, anyone??

In my opinion it makes sense because it's like "there are boys and girls but i mess around with HIM, not the girls and I'm okay with it" but please don't attack me for saying it can be "him". (because most people do that for no reason 😒) I don't say he is gay or something but we know he can like boys too. I feel to need to explain this because sometimes people don't understand the meaning of being "unlabelled". And also a band covered this song you can listen on spotify and they sing "him" and i guess they said Harry confirmed it's "him". I don't know though. It's open to interpretations.

The song is basically about oral sex. This was my concert, I was in that audience and saw this live...so good. During that one part he says "and when I sleep I'm gonna dream of how you"... and we always scream 'tasted'.

2018 and it has become a somewhat cult classic amongst Harry's fans. It is also a point of controversy with regard
to the lyrics so please don't get swept up in all the noise. Personally I don't think "Medicine" or "Anna" will ever be
released commercially but will remain a timestamp between Harry and his fans. A thank you, if you will, for the
support Harry felt at the dawn of his solo career. I know this isn't your wheelhouse but I would love to see your

Harry likes us to put our own interpretation on his lyrics, which is how he likes to listen to music himself, he reckons it spoils it for him sometimes if he hears the real meaning. This is how I feel too, and no shade to you, I prefer not to hear what anybody else thinks it is about. Sometimes a song can speak directly into our own circumstances at a particular time and to hear somebody else's interpretation takes that away. However with Harry unfortunately many can not let anything just be "pure" as you put it. It is a great song, as a northern Englander like myself, I think you will recognise the word is them.

Harry leaves most of his songs meanings open to interpretation, so everyone just sees what they wanna see, nothing more. The fans tend to interpret everything like something filthy, which frankly says more about them than about him. I don't think it's about drugs or about sex per se or that it's a bi anthem because of just 1 row))
I think it's that hazy feeling at the party when you're just the right amount of drunk for people in the crowd to seem close and kinda attractive and what happens next just depends on your and those people conscious. I'm sure it happened many times to a lot of people and in 99% of cases didn't lead to anything at all but it's still a bit awkward to recall next morning xDD
