What an instant tone shift. From the FIRST MEASURE, everything changes. Playtime is over. You're on a mission.
None of the tracks sound like playtime to me. They all have tough vibes.
Right! Playtime is over! Love it!
Search and destroy the maverick leader Sigma by any means necessary.
You described this perfectly.
@@ShadowBanned-o_O I agree, the songs aren’t just good they perfectly create the necessary vibe
I got a little story. So, I’ve played this game many of times. Going back to me being a child in the 1990’s and experiencing it again in recent years as an adult. I really only enjoy older games.
I remember when Zero died. It impacting me. It made me feel for once that a buddy of mine died within game. Like losing a friend in war. As a child, this did impact me.
Recently, a few years back. My at the time daughter was only six years old. She was watching me play this and we got to the part we’re Zero sacrifices himself. She actually got really emotional. And I had to explain to her that my friend is gone and he died and isn’t coming back.
Of course we all know later installments that Zero is revived. But, it’s just crazy how I experienced a moment like this where a character sacrifices himself to save another.
I also got really emotional when I was younger about megaman. I remember in X3 I think when megaman has to fight Zero balling my eyes out watching my older brother play and being like “No!! Stop!! He’s your friend!!” Lol. Honestly, it’s a testament to how good the stories were in these games too as well as the music obviously. Shit I’ve been getting emotional listening to this whole soundtrack. I also left a comment on here about how I only play older video games too. They clearly don’t make ‘em like they used to
Long live zero
I cried when zero died, even now at 21 I still sometimes feel upset
@@FunnyDolphin782 I think that was X2 or X5. But either way, X and Zero, once best friends, having to face each other down in a fight to the death is a tragic, horrifying concept. Except the part where they don't actually die. Whatever.
They played it nicely in Maverick Hunter X where they both die, but X and Z stop Vile with all their strength. Obviously, it's non-canonical, but I have the impression that when something is non-canonical, it is more engaging, has more content and simply has been put into it more.

Feels so much more impactful after zero dies
This song got in my head as zero's death song
Thought I was the only one who felt it. I REALLY wanted to avenge Zero due to his death and this song ,which gave me motivation to finish the fight.
Okay, explain this to me because I played the whole game but haven’t gotten to the rest yet. He doesn’t actually die, right? Don’t they find a way to back up his memory or something?
@@schawangus in Megaman x2 you have to find the parts of zero by defeating the x hunters, then he comes back.
@@schawangus SPOILER
Nope. He died.
Am I the only 38 years old guy who found this song freaking badass even 30 years later? I'm not joking...Megaman X, Super Metroid and Final Fantasy raised me man. Today I'm a good person and I think my tastes on music is spot on. Cheers to these one of kind and unique composers!
38 as well. Holds true. That’s why I’m here commenting
I can imagine X rushing to Sigma’s fortress as the sun is going down after a long and bloody day of battles against the Mavericks.
I always imagined it being a longer period, like X getting stronger over a longer period maybe months, then doing Sigma's Fortress all in one day
@@sharpenedsphere8345 I mean, maybe that's the case for the other games, but if you notice the backgrounds in X1, the intro stage takes place at the crack of dawn, whilst the Maverick's stages are all happening during the day, with it finally becoming afternoon in sigma's stage 1 and 2, evening in stage 3, and late night in stage 4, before the sun rises again during the credits
I used to get scared imagining a post apocalyptic world.
“Used to”
The world of the first MMX game wasn't postapocalyptic... yet

Really gives two tone feels.
1st: You've dealt with all the Mavericks, you've met up with Zero and you're ready to begin the plan to infiltrate Sigma's base to end this war.
2nd: Zero is gone. You're all alone now as you must finish the mission on your own.
Love It
X has the best MMX soundtrack hands down. X5 is pretty sweet too.
X6 too though, terrible game but amazing OST
@@saxoman1 i think MMX6 has the 2nd best soundtrack... And yes, the game is awful.
but let's agree that MMX6 have a amazing soundtrack that mach to MMX1 soundtrack
Agreed!
X5 gets some grief from fans for it's flaws as a game but I actually think it has some of the best game music out there
This is the song that tells the player how high the stakes are and how you are the last hope the world has.
Damn, when you land here for the first time and that soundtrack kicks in, it feels like you just discovered America.
OH MY GOD AT 0:13 THAT'S STRAIGHT AHEAD FROM MEGAMAN ZERO 4 🤯
This was before mega man Zero 4
@@Rafa-u4b Yeah, but doesn't change the fact that STRAIGHT AHEAD references this song
the leitmotif that might play when zero dies
esta musica desde el inicio ya te dice que se acerca el final
Yep. This is where the game gets serious. Youre completely powered up and on the home stretch of it all. What a masterpiece. *sigh* the 90s.
"You just had to be there"
This is my favorite Mega Man game, and this is my favorite track in my favorite Mega Man game
Same 100%
That drum beat change at :28 has no business being that groovy. This entire ost is art
The bass guitar 🎸 though!!
Carried the entire theme
He's A Legend In My Eyes
So friking epic.
Indeed ^^
I can't listen to this without thinking of Core-A Gaming now. That channel is truly legendary.
Still can’t get over having to get good at those moving platforms on the cliff’s edge with those little robo helicopter fuckers getting in the way. Pain in the fucking ass 😖
This song just screams "This is it, time to end this fight for good"
Don’t get me wrong, Dr. Wily Stage 1 in Mega Man 2 is Famous, but this one here in X1 for Stage 1 of Sigma’s Fortress is Top-Notch. Really sets the tone.
a masterpiece
Masterpiece 🔥🎸
Zero: Let's Split Up. I'll go in first, then you can slip in while I keep the main defense force busy!!
Literally minutes after: Well, X, I'm dead... take my buster and kick Sigma into the pavement for me.
@@noisetvunofficial or your stronger than me kick his ass!!
How did I sleep on this track!? Truly epic!
Bass line is incredible
This song is great, It's just that I could never enjoy listening to it because the stage is so difficult...
Use armored armadillos shield while jumping over the bottomless pit so those flying robots wont hit you. Do that and the rest of the stage is no problem.
Use the homing missiles or super charge sting chameleon's weapon to become invisible
Its not that hard even just normal weapon. I did it as a little kid just about practice and patience
@@wildwest1832 sometimes you can get lucky because the platforms become out of sync and you can make multiple jumps super quick without running into the drones.
if you can't charge special weapons yet, use the homing torpedoes to deal with the flying robots
Y’know, I’d like to think of this theme as the *true* final level theme rather than being the first final level theme. It’s just got that finale theme to it. Makes you feel like this is almost the end.
Couldn’t agree more
I could never get passed the Spider
Awe yeah!
LET'S GO!!
Eu lembro que assim que escutei essa música no jogo, sentia que ia dar merda, logo em seguida veio a morte do zero, eu lembro que foi um choque pra mim quando criança ver o zero morrer

One of the greatest video game songs of all time
Nice song. But the fucking climb. Even with armadillo's charged shot sometimes I just... don't jump. The rest of the stage use chamellion's charge
the climb is the best platforming segment in the whole game
Dato curioso:este es el tema favorito de setsuo yamamoto(el compositor de mega man x)
I think this song is a bit saddening. A TH-camr described the ending song as Melancholic. Like "Why are we fighting." To me this 2 and the ending are Melancholy
It's more sad when you play Maverick Hunter X and read the novel and realize a lot of things.
Zero was the original Maverick and Sigma fought and defeated him to stop him, but was infected by Zero with the Maverick Virus.
Zero almost died but survived and was cured.
Sigma was X's mentor and all the other Mavericks were once X's friends.
So his mentor and his friends all turned against him because Zero's Maverick virus infected them all.
Zero fortunately became a good guy and sided with X to the end - but it was all his fault.
X had to kill his former friends and his mentor he once respected, and watch his friend die.
Becoming Maverick could also only mean they wanted to be free.
Chill Penguin said " From the very moment we’re born, we’re Reploids: machines for the purpose of
making the humans’ world prosperous. In other words, as soon as we’re created, we’re already
treated as inferior to humans. No matter how hard we struggle, we can never rise above them."
@@Argedis Indeed, indeed! I do indeed find myself agreeing with you! That does seem to be accurate! The only part where I find myself wondering was where you mentioned it being Zero's fault. While I understand why you view it in that way considering what you described (if it's how I'm understanding it), I think that I see it differently (I could be wrong here). I feel that it isn't his fault either due to the fact that he was simply created with the virus in his system. I don't think that Zero knowingly spread the virus; he seemed to be just as much the tragic victim here as everyone else (similar to how a sick person who doesn't know that they're sick unknowingly getting others sick (also known as a "Typhoid Mary"); it's different if they knowingly do it or have no care for the fact that they are spreading the ailment around). Of course, I could be looking too deeply into what you meant by fault and you just used the word to simply convey the idea that it came from his body! Either way, if you're fine with that, I'd like to know what you think! Glad that you made the comment!
Same goes for you OP!
@@ZascrimShades I agree with you, ultimately he was just a tragic victim as well.
However, if he had simply been defeated by Sigma and died, the world would have been a better place with no mavericks. Similar to the movie "The Butterfly Effect" he finds out the world would have been a better place without him.
In the end Zero died anyway and X was left alone. (I like to think of it as the true ending not counting the sequels)
@@Argedis I'm glad to see more of your views on this and that we could come to an understanding! Thank you!
Indeed, if Sigma wasn't infected as soon as he was near Zero's capsule/when he punched Zero's head crystal to knock him out (I think those were 2 instances of possible infection), then what you've stated would seem to be the case! Sadly, that defect in Zero's programming was in control at the time (until, ironically enough, it apparently got fixed once his damaged body was exposed to more of the virus (if I remember correctly))! Indeed it is very similar to the "Butterfly Effect" in that regard! Funny though, it really does get one to wonder how that would also affect X since Zero was his best friend who realized the potential he had within him (one of the main people who truly saw it before most (Sigma was also one of those who did)). Seems to be wild and tragic all-around!
And, that is indeed fair how you view it as the true ending!
that is why Sigma wanted to obtain X 's power or defeat him because he thought by doing that he could evolve in to something closer to humans.
one of my favorite game songs
Gran leyenda y juegazo increíble Megaman X
Estas en lo cierto 🗿
This soundtrack is so nice it gets into your senses and in your soul and memories of what can never be replaced by anything love it.
Esse é o melhor Megaman X de todos.... E não tem nenhum ruim, até o X6, X7 e o X8 tem seus valores. Mas o primeiro é imbatível.

MegaMan X was and is epic on so many levels. One of the greatest games to ever be put on the Super Nintendo.
For some reason, the intro gives massive Terminator vibes and I love it.
I think i gained sentience with this theme when i was 4 years old and made my first memories, thanks to my grandpa, who introduced me to this game at that age, man do i thank him a lot for that, without that, i'd probably not be here at all...hell, i'd probably not like games at all cuz of that, i wonder how different my life would be cuz of it, still, crazy that this whole game holds many, if not all, of my first memories made, how i could beat sigma without knowing how to dash properly, my grandpa celebrating my victory over him, ohh boy do i miss those times, when everything was waaaay simpler than now
That looks like x and zero's dialogue theme on the beginning does it not?
I guess its really showing you have come full circle
No sé qué pensarán otros, éste no es mi tema favorito, pero si sé honestamente que es el mejor del juego y uno de los mejores de todos los tiempos de la saga Mega Man X.
Listening to this song made me realize that Straight Ahead from MMZ4 used some of the instruments and melodies present in this theme. They sound similar, and are both final stage themes, coincidence maybe?
It is more visible that X and Zero have the same buster here, I wonder if is supose to be a updagrate from the classic saga and that is why both have it
If you get here without any of the armor upgrades, when Zero dies he gives you his buster, so it's a cool easter egg
@@UltraVizer Damn no way, for real? That’s crazy
Обожаю это
This one reminds me of "We’ve made it to this first part of the final place"..
I am surprised that no one said about the part of the level with the platforms, seriously, who had the idea of adding flying enemies to the platforms and then, they knockback you X falls, goes to the deepest layers of the hell and WE THROW THE COMPUTER/CONTROLLER IN THE WALL!!!
Sigma male stage.

Kid gloves are officially off. The game is not going to pull any punches from here onwards.
My new ideal death song when I die here on earth 🌎
This is my favorite track of the game with Armored Armadillo as the second fav but those are not saying much cuz I think this is just pretty good and the soundtrack as a whole is just ok, I prefer the classic group of six soundtracks. I think the Sigma stage tracks peak with this one and then get worse, kinda fitting but worse later on-- hey, just like in Mega Man 2! I first heard a variation of this several years ago, probably the remade version in Metal Sonic Overdrive, a Sonic romhack and it took me until this year to find out that it's this track. I like the late game feel this one gives alongside some tough vibes.
Honestly, awesome
But i think maverick hunter version is better
Wow

This is comparable to Wily theme 1 in MM 7

Yeah, but better
