    Yes the plane & pilot are incredibly skilled and a marvel of modern engineering. But mad respect for being able to film that. Saw an F-35 at an airshow this summer and tried to even get a few good photos. Basically gave up and decided to just enjoy the show as it was just moving too fast. How you could capture this is a skill of it's own. Good job sir!

    I’ve seen this aircraft demonstrated twice at 2 different military air shows. It’s extremely impressive, what it’s capable of. Mind blowing things that airplanes aren’t supposed to be able to do, like stopping in the sky and just hanging there in position and then levelling off in place, turning like it’s on a turntable, still not moving forward and then blasting off in the new direction. And that wasn’t even the weirdest thing I saw it do! It’s super creepy and super cool at the same time. It’s very intimidating.

      Maybe unpopular opinion,but I have no idea what the "falling leaf" maneuver is supposed to look like. All I see is a zoomed in jet that is rotating on a couple of axis. Might as well be watching a graphic effects artist manually rotate a CGI render of the jet in 3DS Max or something.

    • @tombchaser
      @tombchaser ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jeremyb465 the jet is purposely being stalled (cutting throttle to basicly idle and if needed speed brakes are used as well) what causes the jet to basicly fall out of the sky. it becomes a falling leaf like motion by using the rudder from 1 side to the other side to prevent a out-of-control helical spin towards the ground. it usually takes the controls to their maximum limits to get the plane to respond. if performed at a low altitude 1 mistake/error can easily cause a crash.

    That is probably one of the best Transition from the cobra to the falling leaf I've ever seen. Lighting the afterburner on the fly-by was sick 🤘. Btw, the high alpha wasn't bad either 👍

    That was a nice touch to end the video, with (gotta guess a bit because I can't zoom this video for some reason) another F-22 flying formation with a P-51 in the background. I half expected the featured F-22 to join with them. Regardless... great camera work, along with an excellent display of aerobatic prowess from that Raptor driver.

    Which day did you film this on? I was there on Saturday. I was thinking about heading to the car once the I thought the show was canceled due to rain but I thought saw a F22 fly by in the distance so I stayed a bit longer until the F22 showed up. Though I noticed that it was soft with the maneuvers during the rain but once it stopped it went hard! I ended up staying until the show was over. I think the show schedule was all screwed up but managed to stay for the Thunderbirds and more F22 because of the heritage flight. That day was the first time I ever saw the F22 my favorite fighter jet and best looking in person. Also, hopefully future air shows are actually cloudy because it’s easier to look up and see the jets in detail.

      Yes this was Saturday, and my mate was about to give up and head to the car!! and I told him we had come all the way fro Wales I was staying put, and I'm so glad we did 👌 I was gutted when the f22 and f35 was cancelled but when they came back and the sky was cloudy it was perfect 👌 it made the trip worthwhile for sure 😊

    love the falling leaf manoeuvre so much, and while not as showy, the high alpha pass is also a fave. havent had the pleasure of seeing the f22 in person at shows yet. F-22 Raptor, arguably the best, most advanced fighter aircraft ever created, being piloted with impressive talent. Maybe someday AI will completely replace all this, but in the meantime, this is a rare combination of human pilot and machine being pushed to the edge . . .

    I went to a airshow at Andrews AFB a few years ago and saw the Raptor do the stall and fall demo. The jet looked like it was less than 1000 feet high when it started falling. I was so stunned by the moment I didn't even get a video of it. I thought for sure it would crash but it pulled out of the stall with plenty of altitude left. Truly amazing aircraft!

Always loved the air shows , a great place to see these talented , hardworking , pilots. God , bless America.

    I remember watching a Dutch pilot at a Mildenhall air show going ballistic in an F16 up from the centre of the display line until invisible in a clear blue sky. He then put it in a flat spin and tumbled back into view and pulled out at about a thousand feet or less into a tight loop around the perimeter of the field. I remember it thirty years on as clearly as day. This display must have been as memorable to watch first hand too. ❤

    Crazy. That must be so much fun if you could do it.
    I am retired, but for 20 years I worked for a Chicago based company. Every other year or so they would hold the summer outing on the Friday before the Air & Water Show, which is a practice day for the military jets. The company rented a cruise size ship for a couple of hundred of us. Invariably the jets would buzz the ship out on Lake Michigan for kicks. Ours and theirs. I’m sure it was well within the safety zone, but it sure got loud.
