      I cannot agree with you more. I am Trini living in the US and most of my very close friends are from Jamaica. Is only love and respect and i always wonder where the negativity come from. And you know what is also crazy? Trinidad and Tobago play reggae music throughout the years even during carnival. Is only love.

    I am so proud to be rocking both counties :) 😀 My dad was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, and my mother was born and raised in Jamaica. They both migrated to Canada in the 70's sometime, and as God would have it, found each other married and had a family. I just came back from Jamaica, for a vacation, and I have never been more proud of my Caribbean roots

      @DorraineReid I remember in high-school like many of us born in another country than our parents, many of us don't really know to value where our parents come from. A part of don't really know to care. An aquatince friend of mine whose parents were both Jamaican, said something along the lines that he was a pure breed Jamaican, after I told him where my parents were from. As obvious the point he was making, it took me years later to understand what he meant. I laugh at that now looking back. We were on 2 totally different wavelengths. One other person said I was - mixed up. But so good to see the one love here in the comments, and I am glad I simply didn't have any kind of comparative mindset especially as a young man. That would of not been good for me, and my sense of identity.

      Jamaica has no rival in the Caribbean, period. It's simply too great; it's singular, when all things are considered truthfully, and RATIONALLY. Frankly, even if you combined ALL the other Caribbean countries, they wouldn't even come close to Jamaica's achievements. I'ts just as simple as that.

    • @Cliff_Simon
      @Cliff_Simon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @MARKFOWLER-c8o the million dollar question I had especially when I was there last, was how on earth is Jamaica not a first world country? How do they not have a stronger dollar and economy than the United States? It can't even be numbered accurately the millions of people that travel to Jamaica every year!!! It's obviously not a 3rd world country with starving people, and I know this does not only apply to Jamaica and the Caribbean, but when I look at so many countries in Africa, I can also say similar with the amount of natural resources that come from there. Why are they not also first world countries?? I want to see Jamaica be very good for those who live there, not just for people like me who visit.

    I am a Jamaican🇯🇲🇯🇲 living in the UK and was married to a Trinidadian for 31 years. 🇹🇹🇹🇹There was no real rivalry except when it came to sports, music and some foods. We had divided loyalty within the home when the islands competed against each other😂😂 the children made their personal choice who they would support at any given time.
    I do agree that the staff at the airport in Tand T can be cold. However, once I travelled solo with my children 4yrs and 3 months old. The youngest was most uncomfortable with heat on arrival. A member of staff recognised that this was the case and called me forward to the front of the queue. I was most grateful.
    Love the shopping malls in Trinidad, but still like going down Frederick Street for a bargain.
    My relaxing time in Trinidad is when we go over to Tobago. Slower pace of life and beautiful. Jamaica has many more places of natural beauty richer history. Love them both for different reasons.🇹🇹🇯🇲🇹🇹🇯🇲 but I can't give up my Jamaica😂😂

    Hi, i am a Trini who has visited almost two thirds of the caribbean islands several in states in America and Canada and came to the co conclusion that Trinidad is very much like America in terms of our national infostructure (eg our roads and buildings and even some of our foods) but we are very much like our sister islands by our friendly disposition, foods, . There are certain features that sets us apart from the rest of the world though. In Trinidad your regge, is iquivelent to our calipso, and your dance hall , is iquivelent to our soca music. At our airports we most of the time have five and six flights coming in at the same time, so if they push the passengers out on time, flights could overlap , and that could prove to be a bit messy at time. Trinidad has never really depended on tourism for our daily income, since we have been a country of commerce. But over the years we have gotten so many visitors to our island some for work others for vacation especially with the advent of social media. Eight out of every ten persons travel to other destination at least twice a year, further adding to the acceptance of diversity.
    Liming is our informal way of hagging out, 98% of the country is out on weekends, not every outing is liming, but I can assure you this, almost all outings, ends in us liming..so don't be surprised to find every dress code in one liming area and no one feels out of place.
    Our accent is very melodious in Trinidad and also our pronunciation of words ; which is even diffrent to our sister isle of Tobago. Tobago gives you that island vibes which is found in most island, so when the need arise it is normal for a Trini to jump on a fairy and head over to Tobago;
    but I will be in Jamacia for a few days in September would love to meet and lime Jamacia style

    We envy 🇯🇲? very interesting 👌🏾 I remember in the mid 80s in Trinidad 🇹🇹 our $$ boom years so many people migrating to Trinidad, Guyanese Grenadians, jamaicans, etc......the jamaican kids always stood out to me, They seem so primitive in the way they dressed, they didn't know what yogurt was or a mall, mayonnaise, video games etc etc. Trinidad back then was known as little New York, clothes fashion style we banged it. One particular incident stood out to me it was Christmas 🎄 1986 and as usual our families would give us money to go to the malls shop for our presents 🎁 or money we saved........so it was me and a few of my cousins, as we approached the escalator in the mall we saw some jamaicans gathered around it cussing the escalator .....we knew they were jamaicans by their off brand clothing. As we approached the escalator we can hear them saying *Ah wah dis* dem steps a move* * mi nah like it * a obeah dis* dem trini different * ratid mi na ride no moving steps* finally my oldest girl cousins who was always eager to fight yelled at them to move.......as we got on the escalator looking down at them and them looking up at us, not one of us thought in that moment about enving jamaicans. Two islands are unique in their own way, Trinidad and Tobago is very well developed as a small island nation. Mpst people are very well educated..
    Tobago is very laid back and natural beauty as I was born there and then migrated to Trinidad then to USA. Food is great, carnival is worldwide inventor of steel pan which is only instrument invented in 21st century,.then you have oil natural gas and asphalt pitch lake which is one of.the only natural phenomenon in the world, massive ports and two international airports,.brand new fast ferries for inter Island travel, T&T is almost like first world island if u ever visited you'll be impressed and it could of been way further ahead and its heading there anyway...The south is very industrious ie: San Fernando and Marabella very developed cities in the south with oil refineries...In the west you have West Morings with houses that rivals Hollywood in the USA,.and don't forget down the islands which you can only access thru boat and watercraft,.its a whole other world there with huge mansions on the water, trini also makes international boats, world famous Maracas Beach for renowned bake and shark, its too much to list bcuz I didn't even touch on Arima to Sangre Grande in the east to central which is represented by Chaguanas and Couva and all those other areas which is the fastest developing places in T&T with vibrant business centers and residential living...All in All Trinidad 🇹🇹 and Tobago is unique and very rich in culture race and diversity truly amazing, one has to visit to see.for themselves bcuz you cannot rely on someone to tell u,.you have to go to really enjoy this wonderful amazing experience no lie ❤, I love Jamaica.

    The situation with Jamaica became a rivalry that started from a resentment, not only from Trinidad but also from the other British West Indian colonies.
    During colonial times, Jamaica was treated as the main island and was given more preferential treatment than our neighbors, and despite the qualifications of local people on their island, a Jamaican was often brought and placed in top positions and positions of authority within the territories. This, of course, created an atmosphere for resentment to develop.
    I find that most people in the Caribbean get along just fine. There is hardly any difference in cultural behaviors and attitudes, but as always, the loudest, most aggressive, and negative people stand out and are easily identified as a stereotype for each island.
    Jamaica has a different vibe from most other places. The people had a generally more friendly and welcoming attitude than other places, but this is unfortunately no longer that way.
    As beautiful as the physical island is, past visitors would always remark about the beauty of the Jamaican people foremost.
    In Trinidad, everything is a reason to party no matter what. Good or bad occasion, let's have a lyme. Don't try to out-drink a Trini.
    Doubles in the morning is the greatest thing, I love patty in the afternoon. They are not competing comfort foods but are equally perfect for the time of day you should eat them. I enjoy them both at any time.
    There is definitely a greater variety of food readily available in Trinidad, although the basic staple food culture is pretty much the same within the Caribbean. We eat many variations of the same things and sometimes give them different names.
    Trinidad has oil, so electricity is not as expensive there as it is in other islands. So, air-conditioned indoor malls can be a thing there and not so much in other Caribbean islands that don't have oil.
    Trinidad is rapidly developing, but as mentioned, this feels more North America than Caribbean, Jamaica is also rapidly developing yet seems to retain a more Caribbean tropical feel, and the beaches, rivers and mountains are the most beautiful.

    On the part of 'lime', Dorraine had mentioned that Jamaicans are also outgoing. That should only be applied to entertainment/hospitality related activities, and not in comparison to Trinidad. However, since COVID, Jamaican's have not been out lately, but only for work in their new economic regime.
    Jamaicans like to be more confined to their space, are more insecure, and the women enjoy being indoors a lot. And Jamaicans are not the best of well doers these days and are not welling to do much for their surroundings, hence the criticisms it often gets from Trinidad, and despite Jamaicans being the most friendly.

    Trinidad politics is its downfall since it is along racial lines as opposed to merit. When you have this there is constant mismanagement, discrimination, corruption and nepotism. The island has had its oil booms and nothing significant to show for it. One race giverns for all and one only for their likeness, one builds up the financial reserves and the other pocketing those funds. JA is a democracy too but not along racial lines with them essentially having a homogenous population; everybody on the same page in other words same as the other Caribbean islands with homogenous demographics.

    Yes! That’s because Jamaica 🇯🇲 has more Black people of African descent; Trinidad 🇹🇹 has more INDIAN! We no wake bout anyway how you can talk about Entertainment and Trinidad 🇹🇹 is more than Jamaica. Relaxation is the Norm. Too much hustle and bustle make you feel tired. Oh, Trinidad 🇹🇹 remind you of the USA? We don’t need that we need independence not being funneled into what (society) the west wants you to be. No COMPARISON end of Story!!

    I am jamaican and jamaicans can not party like Trinidadians, we like to go to parties to stand up and watch, trinis go to parties to dance and have fun, look at a stage show in Trinidad compares to jamaica same reggae artist btw, you cant debate partying and say lime ,just doing that you lost the debate. Trinidad is way more diverse so naturally they will have a larger variety of food. Malls are no longer the rave, as a matter of fact a lot of malls in are America closing down. Cant compare beef patty and doubles. Jamaica have better food overall, they put green seasoning on everything!

      Aye I ain't going to compare pattie and doubles because that is up to preference. but you see green seasoning and variety of food and overall quality and taste Jamaica loss that argument also. You all forgeting that Tobago is part of TnT. Tobago creole food is the best. No Maggie seasoning with MSG to kill you slowly JA.

      @stillirise7813 powder seasoning can be natural without additives. And the point was to diversify the flavors everything cannot and should not taste the same. And you guys do use powder seasoning. Isn't Curry powder seasoning?

      @Benji_1 I agree, but that's a testament to the strength of our culture, black culture will always be dominant in jamaica. For trinis, the Syrians, the Indians, the Spanish all come in and over influence the culture. Few years from now Spanish will be required in Trinidad
