Do we need to carry out tempering after these processes to relieve internal stresses and keep core toughness?

You can carry out tempering if you need to impart toughness in your workpiece.

@@ProfDrVasimAShaikh But sir tempering is always followed after hardening process where we heat up entire component. But here in case of surface hardening core is not heated up so is it standard procedure to carry out tempering after surface hardening or we can use the component as it is?
