Nice work! You scared me there in the beginning, I thought you where going to take the whole tree down with your Silky Saw. :) That Husky sounds like a tough little tree saw. I basically gave up with the slack tending CMI pulley, by the time you reach down to find the line and then milk the slack it's easier to just grab the blakes hitch and snatch the line thru. but that's me. i like the Orange Steel BuckStrap....And the Life Line Double Safty Feature.....Ya see some of these idjets with a Peice of 3 Strand that has Chain Saw Cuts on it...For a BuckStrap...i been using the Old Klein Kevlar Pole LineMan Strap for Years...Mowed Many Palm Tree's...Get a few Saw Bite's on it and Trade it in for a New One....! Good Equipment Makes a Good Tree Worker.........:)
Rich's 65' Tree Bucket Service Ive never seen the Kevlar lineman strap, ill have to look into those. You will never catch me cutting off the ground without two life lines. I agree good equipment pays for itself.
Thanks! the only new piece of equipment in this video is the small pruning saw. My top handle saw is about a year old and the other two saws a little older, but I like to keep them clean. I've been climbing for a few years now.
WhyKnot I love it! I used a silky zubat before I tried out the Husqvarna and after trying it I went back and bought second one as a backup. It cuts the same as the silky but build quality and ergonomics are much better on the Husqvarna. The sheath is the only thing im not impressed with, im strapping it to my leg now which I like better than hanging it off my harness but its still no ideal.
well I can tell that you are not very experienced but you keep working at it you should always make a face cut in you limbs and when your lowing wood but you did good

I also now carry a small felling lever to hit the wedge in and tip over larger pieces on trunks like that which I like a lot.
Seriously consider working with a spliced eye for your termination onto that carabiner. Your big huge figure eight has actually been proved to prevent friction hitches from biting in situations like that.

Definitely! And a splice is so easy to get done, eliminates the hazard completely. Zigzags are a lot of fun, I use the hitch climber pulley system still.

Its a CMI service line micro pulley. It tends the friction hitch really well, even after having put all your weight on it. But sometimes the spliced ends of the hitch tend to wander around the carabiner, a pulley that captivated the ends of the hitch in between the two sides of the pulley would have been a better choice.
You look a little uncomfortable holding the tree while you cut and looking down at your spikes when you step up and tying in instead of just going up but other than that good job everyone has a different style just do what works for you and stay safe

sorry for the late reply, Yes its a 550xp. Its my all time favorite saw. awesome power for the weight, and the the saw is very short making it incredibly easy to turn on its side for limbing or to make face cuts. Ive had it for over 3 years now.

It was a skinny tree. My bull rope is 150' long and it was not long enough to lower any of the branches, except for the last one. for the others the groudie had to attach a second rope to get the branches to the ground.

Dude I don't know how you have the balls to use a chainsaw one handed, so unnecessary. Not being offensive at all but just not worth it. Especially when it looks like you're just in jeans! Two hands = all of your limbs!
Arborist saws are specifically designed to be safe while using it one handed because of the aquard positions they can get in. But I do agree it is safer with 2 hands.

No face cuts on bigger limbs and chain needs a good sharpening. Looks like a DIY job, not a professional one.

Well arborist saws are made to be compackt, not for singel hand use, it's only in few climbing positions that the saw is safe used in one hand.
